Closet grow question

My brother is starting 3 clones in his closet lined with mylar, under a 15watt warm fluorescent, with 50/50 perlite/potting soil, as well as MG bloom fertilizer. No humidity dome, fan, etc. We would like to know if this will be an adequate set up for a first time grower?

so i dont have too much experience growing but you are definitely going to need more light than a single 15 watt cfl for three plants. And eventually you'll need some sort of fan/ventilation system because temperatures will get hot inside that closet. just my two cents though...

thanks, its actually a 2ft fluorescent not a cfl, idk if that makes a difference. we have another of the same that he was going to add after they rooted, will that be enough? and with the addition of a fan will this set-up be lucrative?

the CFL u are using will be suffient for rooting the clones. once they are rooted you are going to want as much light as you can without getting the temperature to high. the more watts = more lumens = more ganja. (this isnt a correct equation but you get the idea) More light more bud.

plants need fresh air(co2) to grow. you will want fan drawing fresh air in and a fan draw stinky air out.

things needed for a successful grow
-lots of light
-fresh air
-consistant temps(~75f)
-some good nutriants

Hey,

Its been said, but yeah, 15 watt is no where near enough, nor will 30W of light.
Of course Wattage isn't anything to go on, nor is lumen, but as a rough guide I think you're looking for minimum 2000lumen per sq foot, or if you're not stuck in the 1960s thats roughly 20K lumen per 1 meter squared.
Again very rough math, an HPS or MH light puts out around 100 lumen per watt, CFLs slightly less. Its my understating that they're both more efficient (lumen per watt) than a standard fluorescent bulb. So if you have a 1m square area, you're looking at a 250W set up minimum. 400W would be better though.

Feel free to correct me if i'm wrong, no expert here :P

Phant0m is right, as well as jonsey2010. Ur gonna need way more light very soon, depending on ur clones it should only take under a week to root them good.

15tube = 15watt CFL. All a CFL is the tube you have wraped around and around. So they are the same. But i have something similar check out my log

yea like everyone else say bro...........LOTS MORE LIGHTS man. and the 23-26w CFLs the best way to go. for the 3 clones id use like 6-9 of them. all depends on ur space. good luck with ur grow and keep us updated:)

ya lots more lights, fans, and no miracle grow use foxfarms line up trust me lol. if ya need lights i have a nice supply of them i could ship it to ur local post office.
