i harvested about 10 days ago and had my buds hanging and drying for about 4 days, then put them in paper bags in a cool dark place, then placed them in mason jars.....

the buds don't have that super sweet smell they had before harvest and right now smells like a teenie weenie bud smell but mostly a different weird kind of green-ish smell. is this a normal thing for the curing process? please any input would put my questioning mind to rest.

the paper bag dry is for a quick-dry and not part of the cure...the 4 days of air drying before starting the cure should have made them plenty dry to start curing and finish the drying very slow over several weeks or more by opening the lid several times/day and gently stirring, resealing (but not a tight lid) after 20 minutes or so. tupperware type bins work great for larger amounts.

are they brittle and crumbly now?

yes i do open the lids a couple times a day for twenty minutes to get some fresh air in there....

they are NOT brittle or crumbly, the outsides were pretty dry when i put them in the jars and now they are almost soft and squishy,,,but NOT in a wet way.

so is this normal to not have a super sweet bud smell at this point of curing. it is more of a green. i would say 70% green smell and 30% bud smell IF i had to put a ration on that. it was WAY sweeter smelling when i harvested them...

put it in a tupperware container for a few daays... it'll do a slight cure.
after i chopped down my plant i had 2 days before i went on vacation for 7 days.. so i hung it for 2 days, chopped it, bagged it and threw it in a cold beer fridge which was just cold enough to crystalize the water that was evaporating from the bud.

when i returned, i opened the bud and layed it out to dry. it worked.. everyone that has smoked it with me has said it's really good... 9/10... i even had a few "this is the best fucking weed i've ever had"... so all in all it was a good production :D

i got 2.5 ounces... plus a number of samples i took :| i learned my lesson don't worry. :(

total about 10 days of total drying/cure

the cure is what takes out that green smell. if your flowers aren't dried out get them into a closed container asap...it'll draw moisture left in the stems and you can still get the cure going (leave enough out for yourself while drying the rest). after the outter layer gets some moisture follow the standard instruction for a cure and they should be fine in a couple weeks, depending on moisture left inside. but in the future only use the paper bag dry for a quick sampling session...or if you have to dry fast for whatever reason.
