I have tried to start my seedlings outdoors in plastic containers with holes so they will get air. The insects keep on eating my plants and killing them. Is there any better way I can start my seedlings outdoors without having them get eaten by insects?:(

What you guys are saying is put it in a box object with a screen on top? Can you explain this a little more and how to do it?
Thanks

I use a bunch of those plastic hand-carry grocery bins with the handles, roll chickenwire across, they can go from germ like 3 - 4 weeks before transplant... ---also light can come in through every angle as there are holes in the bins --- Use a little plant safe pyrethin spray... Have no problems... Each bin can hold 12 plastic party cups. You can carry 24 at a time easy...

Take large cat litter pan . The taller the better place you seedling cup into plastic cat litter box. Then cover with screen . Like you would use on a home window.place bungee cord around to hold screen tight...

It's much faster to start them indoors. Simply fold a paper towel in half and place your seeds in the crease, then wet it and place into a plastic baggie. Keep them in a dark place and you should have sprouts within 48 hours!.:D

If your just doing seedlings without putting in the soil... Wet a paper towel put it on a plate and put a bowel over it and keep the towel damp... Then plant the seeds in soil.... They will burst fast trust me...
Good luck and happy growing hommie...:hippy:

I am starting them indoor then when I plant them in soil I move them outside. While they are outside they always get eaten by insects. I will try to put it in a container with a screen on the top.

I thought it rather unusual to even try an outdoor method for germination, it simply takes more time and effort.
I've graduated, now I'm doing poppy seeds just for fun!. Much easier to grow Opium...plus nobody knows what the hell it is...looks like an orchid.
