Okay guys, I have to be away from the computer today, so I want to get this out so that I have it in stone for tomorrow.
We are meeting at GM at about 11:30 tomorrow? I will be picking up Justablok at about 10:30 for a lift to GM? Does anyone else need a ride from metro or Boulder?
And finally, I am not sure how this whole issue with the damn Notary messing up my paperwork is going to go. Either way though, meeting to talk will not be illegal. Mark, I need to make sure that you and I don't do ANYTHING that could EVER be used against either of us. I know you agree. There's no law against talking, and I will get you all an update tonight.
Hope everyone has a great day!!
peace.

For sure Releaf!!
Anyone want to take minutes? I have a friend who is versed on such things and he can ride up. He would be THE BEST secretary we could EVER have, AND I trust him with my life. I can say that about 3 people (children are not included) He's not a patient YET, but he IS a dedicated individual. He'd never tell you, and you would NEVER guess, but a team he helped lead, and a paper he wrote while at Princeton, help end apartheid in South Africa. He's used to the heat. If he does come, don't judge a book by it's cover okay? He's REAL.
Can he be in? This is about more than just MJ. It's about Hemp. It's about JUSTICE! It's about Government "Of the People, For the People, and BY the People".
And I think I have a simple and catchy name that summarizes what FOR ME are the differing missions we are embarking on AND the singular battle we are getting into. I'm working on a logo. This is more important than most may think, in today's "cradle to the grave" branding society.
I again ask that I be considered for the task of naming and branding the group. If I am going to sell this, I need to believe what I'm selling. When you have that ROCK SOLID belief, it's about people buying YOU, and if your heart is RIGHTEOUS, then it's all about being you. And AUTHENTICITY is what we NEED. AS we saw with that other lobbying group, most of these people are not to be trusted. I NEED to be trustworthy, and I NEED to work with those whom I can trust. Not to go on, but I feel as if standards for my involvement must be laid out. I have high standards for personal and professional conduct, as I hope we all do.
Justablok... Email off in a few seconds.
peace.

Actually I have to pull out. :( I have to work til like 1p and can't get out of it. Otherwise I could and would have brought my laptop so we could have audio recorded minutes to be posted up for d/l.
I've been in the community since 44 so I'm not going anywhere and can shoot for the next meeting or the protest itself.
I'm sorry,

We are meeting today for this purpose and to come up with other strategies to defeat this I have a list the Speaker passed on to us of the Representatives that still may be swayed into voting no and thus killing the bill.
Please email and call the list of House of Representatives below asking them to vote no on House Bill 1284. These are the individuals who have the most potential to be receptive to hearing our voice and change their yes vote to NO. This must be done no later than Monday. They Vote on Tuesday. There is only a very small chance that we can still kill this bill which is something we all need to do as patients, caregiver and growers. This bill will force good dispensaries and caregivers to close the doors, preventing accesses to a safe place and local meds. Please take 20 mins and call these individuals or send an email encouraging them to vote no on House Bill 1284.
Thank you.

Not my rules.....it's the choice of the people that own this site. Would it be so hard to state that I live around this area, need a ride, could meet up at such and such gas station, etc....for a lift?
As for "buying", that was in somebody elses signature that I deleted.
Racism? Now that's a new one on me. Haven't seen it in this thread at all nor was it mentioned by me.
I wish ya ALL the best with the meeting and hope only good things become of it BUT as for here....you'll have to find ways like what I mentioned in order to pass the good word.

I want to thank everybody that made it up for the meeting, I think for the 1st one it was very productive. I recorded the whole thing as soon as I gt it downloaded I will post it for everyone. We had a pretty wide sampling attend, we had patients, patients that just grow for themselves, caregivers & dispensary owners. I should have it posted by tonight, we have several items that need immediate attention, again thanks.

lol no problem, but time is of the essence! I've got the vans electrical problem somewhat fixed so if you want a firewire cable today maybe I could bring it by as I have no use for it.. Been meaning to stop by for sometime now anyways, I like to give my business to caregivers/disp's that are on the same page as the majority of us here on this wonderful forum.
I can tell Grateful Meds is fighting this, and several other disp's but what about the hundreds of disp's that are NOT? If they figure 80% are not going to be able to pay the fee's and comply with everything else, WHY are they not fighting this?!? Maybe I'm not seeing this clearly, probably too pissed off to even think clearly but I think the mom and pops are not trying hard enough to end this. I also feel like I need to do more than I am on this, VERY interested in how the meeting went yesterday.

They aren't fighting because:
A) They don't know about it
B) They don't care
C) They think it's a lost cause
A lot of the average patients I don't think are very educated about the bill. Furthermore, many patients who aren't as involved probably don't even care. As far as they're concerned they'll still have access to meds at the mega-dispensaries. And maybe they grow their own or are locked into a great caregiver with <5 patients... so they have no worries. Lastly, I think many people think it's a lost cause... a fight not worth fighting.
Really, the last hope to rid ourselves of this bill is a legal challenge. I believe Corry is preparing for one? I'm not sure. But that would probably be the place to throw your effort at this point!

The main reason is they do not know, along with a majority of patients, growers and small dispensaries many do not know because they don't have the time to follow it through forums or take a whole day off work to sit at the Capitol and you can't blame them the are just hard working folks many with 2 jobs just trying to make it through their day and survive. They are lucky if they catch something on the News or in the Paper and we all know what kind of information they are getting there, slanted.
From the meeting we have a list of over 400 dispensaries in Colorado we were all given a section of that list to call and inform them of what is happening with 1284, that there are still 6 representatives we still may be able to convince to Vote no therefore killing the bill for this session that ends this Wednesday. We will also be telling them of this group we have formed and what we hope to accomplish quickly. here is some of what we discussed at the meeting.
1. Pressuring these 6 representatives to vote no and the Governor to veto it if it does pass.
2. Help assist Corry and the group he has formed to fight a legal battle in whichever way they feel we can help.
3. Create a public Education Media Campaign to counter the negative press and miss information about the Medical Marijuana Movement by:
â?¢ Explaining who a medical Marijuana Patient is?
â?¢ The economic benefits to the community as a whole legalizing Medical Marijuana & Industrial Hemp
â?¢ The cost to society of current Cannabis Prohibition.
This is a rough idea of what went down we have allot of talent already assembled ( IT, web design, Audio/Visual production to name a few). The idea is to get the word out and for those people to get the word out. We all just need to agree that HB-1284 is a very bad Bill and should not be passed and we should all stand together to defeat it. After that we can all go back to the drawing board and try to come up with real common sense regulation that protects the patients and all the folks that donâ??t have big money but still have big dreams.

I figured that was the case, really my fault for waiting till the last second. I'm done procrastinating though. Are the dispensaries commiting at all to emailing their patients? How can we get the word out? The patients definitely don't know whats up, or care it seems. Actually I've had to clue a good 10 patients in on what's happening. Dear Linda,
I want to thank you for all your work on trying to come up with some reasonable regulation regarding medical marijuana and the industry it has spawned. But I urge you to vote no on this bill in it's current form. All it will do is drive all of us small (mom &pop) dispensaries, and small caregiver operations out of business. This leaves open the door for big money and corporations like RJ Reynolds to take over the industry. RJ Reynolds has recently Trademarked several Marijuana Strain names (Trainwreck,OG Kush etc.). This bill will also create a black market on steroids that the likes of has never been seen in Colorado. This will only create a justice system nightmare and ruin many many lives. I do not believe this is what the voters intended when the passed amendment 20.
Why are we only punishing drug offenders? It seems as long as you raped, killed, robbed, embezzled or committed fraud over 5 years ago you can be in the Medical Marijuana Industry, but God forbid you got busted with marijuana during a unjust 40 year "War on Drugs". What is the logic here? Please vote no on this bill, please do not force me, the patients and many of my friends to go back underground for our medicine.

Thank you for your engagement in the legislative process. I did vote no on this. I believe the bill wasn't ready, so to speak, and that it would be harder to undo than to wait a few more months.
I believe we haven't seen the end of this policy area.
Thanks again.

THIS IS AN URBAN MYTH: "RJ Reynolds has recently Trademarked several Marijuana Strain names (Trainwreck,OG Kush etc.)."
There is no category in the US Patent & Trademark office for substances recognized by the federal government as unlawful. A search for all the above marks in the US Trademark registry shows numerous existing trademarks using these names for t-shirts, underwear, toiletries, electronic publishing, etc. Each item listed in their proper category. But, again there is no category in the Trademark registry for cannabis.
You could trademark a strain of tobacco you wanted to call 'Trainwreck'. You could do the same for a watermelon, or a tomato. They are open and available under their specific trademark categories. But, you can't trademark a strain of cannabis under any name.

Whether it's a myth or fact I guess I was not sure at the time I wrote that letter, But the point got across to the legislator and I hope it is getting to you, Big Corporations are interested in MMJ in a big way and for them to take this over in Colorado was not the intent of the voters in 2000.:wtf: I will try to to be more diligent about cross checking what I read in the press, between running business, a full time grow, raising a Daughter and trying to influence the legislature, I'll try harder thanks.:stoned:

CM, this is just one of those big giggle things for me. I do a lot of work with patent and trademark lawyers. Sorry to hijack your post.
I received the same gracious and kind emails from Senator Linda Newell today. Of the dozens of pieces of legislative correspondence I've sent in the past two months (none CCed,) each on a single specific amendment, I've only heard back from one Rep and Senator Newell. She obviously has a competent and hard working staff supporting her and she understands the importance of constituent relations -- she really gets it.
