With the current situation here in Colorado and after watching this video I am losing hope. Warning this is a distrubing video.
SWAT Team Kills Dog With Child Present, Arrest Father In Misdemeanor Marijuana Bust | FDL Action (http://fdlaction.firedoglake.com/2010/05/06/swat-team-kills-dog-with-child-present-arrest-father-in-misdemeanor-marijuana-bust/)
and obviously we are not only knuckleheads but an embarassment

I am not going to watch the video but I have read what happened and it really is an absolute abuse of power and meaningless use of tax dollars.

Guys, PLEASE listen to what I have to say. This is what dis-courages (think about that) people from doing anything. I know, it's awful, BUT are you going to let what happens to others stop YOU from making the world better?
That's where most of us are, or have been. I've been there. The world is SO short on positive news. 88% of people (and this was about 5 years ago) PREFER negative but EXCITING news. "Pit Bulls!!!" "SWAT TEAMS!!!!" "Murder" "Gang Violence" "Child Raped" 'Child dies" :(
It's NOT an accurate reflection of what's going on. How many AWESOME acts of courage and kindness happened in Metro today? How many lives saved at Children's Hospital? How many celebrations, breakthroughs, and selfless acts of kindness?
You would never know, because that's NOT what the money makers make money on. Why? Nobody knows. Not Paul Harvey, Larry King, Dan Rather or Tom Brokaw know. And if THEY admittedly don't know, how should we.
What I DO KNOW, is that there is a LOT more good going on then they will ever tell you.
Keep the faith Reenstar, it's NOT that bad. Take courage.

I'd posted up something before but deleted it as I was still a little hot. This was extremely disturbing and upsetting for me. I love my animals as much as I love my family... I consider my animals part of the family. It's just not alright to come in and start taking away valuable lives...
What's unfortunate is a lot of times the guys who work on the task forces are sick individuals. I've known 4 guys over the years who've become cops. 3 out of the 4 were some of the most twisted guys I've known. Woman-beater, sadistic bum-beater (same type who kills dogs), date-rapist... these are just some of the qualities of those 3 guys. The fourth guy was a good, simple, religious guy. He probably made for a stand-up cop, but unfortunately I think those types of guy are outnumbered...

They want to be beaten to death in their homes at night? Cause that's what continued stuff like this is going to cause. I really don't want to see this country torn apart by it's own government. I hope they wake up and realize what they are doing, cause they sure as hell aren't listening to us anymore.

It is terrorism, pure and simple. SOP Can you imagine the horrific impression this made on that young kid? It would horrify anyone with a soul.

Not all cops are like this. I'm not saying that this is what you're saying. Unfortunately, twisted individuals don't seem to be that hard to find these days. These are interesting times.

Hey Farmer Steve,
Yes, I have to agree. We have made soooo many strides since we began our fight in 2000. Yes, sadly, 10 years later not only are we still fighting it but it's getting more intense. But, if it weren't for the likes of each and everyone one of you on this board and thousdans who are not, we are where we are today. We will keep going and we WILL Prevail! Good always triumphs over evil in the end.
Reenstar, Don't give up hope! Even if we do take steps back we will regain them and then some. They can't hold back the winds of change long. It's FAR too big now. When we make strides here in Colorado we're not only helping ourselvs but we're helping our brothers and sisters worldwide because, as usual, "the world is watching."
From one activist to another thank you for doing what you have done and keep it up. Tell your friends who arn't active to become active. It is in numbers we have power. United we stand; devided we fall.
Right, a lil less talking; a LOT more medicating. :S5:
Don't lose hope, friend, :D

Oh this is a BIG 10-4. Almost every single SWAT type dude I have met (and a girl too) were just itching to fight. Well, they were itching to harm people who most likely could not fight back. That's not to say all of them. On the other hand, a SWAT team saved my cousins when my TWISTED ass uncle took his kids hostage and was going to do them all in. Maybe it takes a wolf to catch a wolf sometimes.
I hope you aren't thinking I think it's "okay" to hurt or kill anyone or their animals. I won't even watch the video. After the childhood I had, biker gang drug dealing mom, step dad in the pen, and thats just the start, I don't need to "know" what it looks like. I am aware of it's presence and I do what I can to bring balance and justice.
Don't let your hearts be troubled. But let me ask this. Unless the reporter is trying to rally the public to DO SOMETHING about this injustice, what is the point of "reporting" it?? Besides making money??
peace.

A newspaper, or whichever medium one cares to choose, is equivalent to a modern day bible. Everything printed in the newspaper can be considered a divine message. Newspapers always print THE truth and nothing but THE truth. But TV is even more reliable. If it's on TV it absolutely has to be true. They would never allow a lie to be told on TV. That's why politicians like to be on TV. It is the best outlet to get THEIR version of the truth across to the public. Unbiased reporting is long since dead and gone.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. ;)
Many years ago, I was in a community of Cop Haters (can't say where) and this little girl got shot, not fatally thank God. Well, they were going to burn this cop, it was racism, so on and so forth. Rumors swirled, all of which pointed to a racist cop and all that entails Well, months later, it comes out that the little girl (12 or so) have a damn knife, and the family tried to hide the fact from the investigators. Even the family confessed before the trail.
Oh it was some SENSATIONAL stuff. I was in rooms where talks of a lynching were happening, and I of course, was ready to roll on this "pig". Well, that, and a million other events have taught me to reserve judgement. Soldiers do AWFUL things in war, many of them are just sick to begin with, hence their military service. However, a lot of them just go bat shit crazy having to fight by all these rules while the enemy has none.
Disclosure: I AM NOT DEFENDING THIS SWAT MEMBER! I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT HAPPENED. I AM NOT JUSTIFYING WHAT HE DID.

Wow man! I'm sorry to hear that! That's just downright harsh!
As a Broadcasting student at Metro, I think I can speak to that.
In theory, news is to inform "The People" of events that effect their lives.
The problem inlies in the facts that all media outlets within the US is held by a very few ultra-rich media tycoons who have created huge corporations known as our Local and National Media.
So the money/power greedy media moguls took hold of our media the quality of programming went down, as did the investment of human talent thereby reducing the cost and increasing the profits. While maintain control of the programming you hear today.
Case and point; Fox, There are huge political games that are played between Fox and the whack job, Bush. They were up his ass from day one. Why? You ask, well...it's ultra wealthy elite who want not only stay that way but make MORE. Well part of making more is the money they make off the government one way or another.
They want more of the evil token that represents the United State's PROMISE that it is good! But that's leading me down a road that would be best saved for a different post. :stoned:
When you have a hold of the media you have a hold of "The People!"
That is one (paranoid?), opinion for whatever it's worth.

I'm definitely not saying all cops are twisted like that, but I do think that being a cop appeals to those types of people often times. So, I think that LE in general tends to have a higher concentration of violent-types...:stoned: which like Steve pointed out can be good in some scenarios, but bad when you're on the other end of the gun.

Nothing but love and respect for ya Farmer Steve, but for me this was a wake up call and very notivating. I read the article and was mad, I watch the video and became livid. I have to say I am done with the MMJ movement, I will now support full legalization.
I have always felt that Marijuana was a safer alternative to alcohol but the Reefer Madness hysteria kept that from happening for the 40 years I have been smoking. It is unfortunate but it's really time to put pressure on the Feds for rescheduling of MJ. This video was from MO, but it only happened because MJ is regarded as a schedule 1.
I guess it starts here, at home, and I hope Brian Vincente is successful in having legalization on the 2010 ballot. I do not want the government to regulate my marijuana but if it saves just one family from what this one went thru it's something I am willing to have happen.
I will continue to smoke and grow, after all a 40 year pattern is tuff to break, but for me the answer is not medical marijuana but total and complete repeal of any laws making the cultivation, sale and consuption illegal.:hippy:

I guess when the gangs start strongarming the few growers left, since all the knuckleheads will be gone, leaving the few who are willing to put up with this insane bullshit imminently identifiable and big, obvious targets for extortion, we can be glad that we have cops who are equally psychopathic. I wonder if those big badass auditors with guns will suit up and fight for us alongside them.

After some consideration I emailed Gov Ritter again this morning, again asking for a veto on 1284.
I thought about what and how I was going to approach this issue for the upteenth time and decided I would attach the Youtube link for the swat team in MO.
Perhaps he has seen it, perhaps not, but to me it shows what "auditors with guns" might look like. It was important for me to think Gov Ritter will see what this war on drugs is doing to families. In the video it looked like any typical american home. This video moved me, hopefully it will move Gov Ritter.

My operation has been totally upfront and on the radar of local authorities for quite a while. We have a pretty friendly local government here and they have been reasonable in accommodating this industry. I recently had to testify before the local county commissioners relative to a moratorium. I begged them not to but the local paper published my name. So much for anonymity. My wife who is also a patient got so stressed by this that it has made her sick. It basically has become very counterproductive to continue to do what was once something that was helping her and other patients that I serve here in my town. I'm moving my operation elsewhere at a huge cost in $$ and my time because of this. It will remain legal relative to plant count per patient and will comply with my rights and my patients' rights under Amendment 20. Once things get sorted out a bit with this new debacle, I will comply with the new law, as long as I am convinced that a bunch of nosey, self interested reporters will never in a million years have access to my location. I don't have a problem with being regulated and taxed as long as it is reasonable and my constitutional rights are protected. This new law seems to create a lot of questions relative to those constitutional rights.

Oh yeah it does! Carroll herself, repeatedly, said in debate that if they pass this there WILL BE litigation based on the constitutionality of it. I wouldn't be a bit surprised to find that Rob already has the paperwork ready to submit to the court once Ritter signs this and you know he will.
Honestly tho, it's not like we're actually using our Constitution right now.

It's going to be great when we can go to Rob in a few weeks and let him know that there is a newly formed group that is arming up and coming together.
These guys have basically been on the front lines by themselves (and if you've been there) or at least with scattered support. Wait until we get thew ball rolling. I'm telling you, IF, IF we do this RIGHT, and I am going to FIGHT to make sure we get the foundation correct, there IS a way, we'll have an army of voices and support for them within 2 months.
