Well, decided to continue logging this seed, original post was "what's up with this seed" under plant problems. this is my first real stint at growing from seed, thanks to forums like these and the internet searches my whole garden is thriving well, despite NOOBE problems. i thought this could be interesting to some so i'll take the time and try to keep it that way.
this came out of some decent swag that i had saved once this idea of growing began. it was the best that i'd seen in years so i found about 8 good seeds. i soaked them until the shells popped and then transplanted them into "sure to grow" (not reccomended, i had trouble with it and none with rockwool). out of 8 i got two sprouts, and i transplanted them both into a one gallon. i figured with a 50/50 chance i should get one female. these were my neglected plants, unfortunatly i tended to over water and under nute them. both plants did well under the stressful conditions, seems to be hardy. as the story goes on they grew up. they were sprouted and transplanted by 3-28. i would stick them outside to sunbathe as well as kept them in my veg room running 24/0. i used canna terra pro soil with hydroton on top and bottom. i topped the larger one and less than a week later it showed it's sex at the spot of topping!!! i've never heard or read anything about stressing to show sex, it was clear as day i saw two white pistil hairs on one site. so i topped the tallest of the three branches on the "special" one and amazingly three days later at the spot of topping it showed it's sex as well, unfortunately it had balls:(. so i pulled him out yesterday and decided to give him a chance and me more experience by planting him outside, in the bare ground. i'll give him a cup of water a day until dead or established. there will be pics of him as well. and since this has gone the way it has i felt a wild hair and lollipopped the female, sent her straight to flower after taking three clones and trimming 2-4 sites up on each branch. the clones i took were the top two from the previous topping and the shortest bottom branch. i had chicken in the cloning tray i'm using. saw it in the back of the fridge and figured it make a great tray and dome for my three clones. i'm using 2" rockwool blocks, although i think 1" is better, treated overnight in RO + hormex at 5.5 pH. i use scissors to cut from the plant, then it goes into a bowl of water where i scrape the stem and make a new cut. into clonex and into the rockwool. i have four T-5 lights linked together, there's foam insulation between the shelf and the trays/heatmat. temp and rh are unknown but a guess would be high 70's. i'll put a temp guage in there.5-6 first day of flower for "swag". she's going into my flower room with some cin 99, i have 3 1000w hps and 2 1000w mh. she'll be next to my mom #1, pics in my album, which is getting a great cross spectrum of two lights, 1 mh- 1 hps. my temps stay high 70's day, low 70's at night, rh 20%, three aircooled lights, two cheapo wings. can't think much else.

pic 2 taken 4-14 inside
pic 3-4 the 3 stemmer, crazy genes eh?

well i felt sorry for the boy being all alone, in the cold dark out doors.i decided to ease his trasition by giving him some nutes and covering him ove night with a white bucket, i decided to use the white bucket in oder to let some light through in the early am to keep it in veg state.
pic 1 heavy nutes + b1
pic 2 5-7 day 2
pic 3 5-8 day 3 looking better.
pics of swag in flower later...

If I were you I'd just kill that male. He's just going to spread bad genetics around your neighborhood.

The Female is looking good though.

As to the clones. You may find the genetics of your seeds prone to hermi. I'm not saying it's a sure bet. Just that if your girl hermi's during flower, even late with nanners. Your clones will also be prone to the same problem.

However if she stays 100% female until the end, your clones will be great. Either way it's good experience! :D

Basically, if the seeds were created when a female hermi'd and pollinated itself. You'll have seeds VERY prone to hermi. However if your seeds were fertilized by a different female plant that hermi'd. You'll have Feminized seeds. (however they too CAN hermi if the genetics are unstable).

Good luck

i'll kill here soon, way before he'll flower... i plan on growing outdoors anyways and wanted to see how harsh the conditions really are out here. so i'll give him maby a month.
what's the deal with nanners and hermi's, is it being paranoid or does it happen that often? i read a lot about people being worried and checking constantly. the few plants i stress, i'd beable to check everyday, but one room i have is dam near wall to wall with cin 99 in hydro. it would take 3-4 hours to take them out and check them, which i'm doing tonight to spray for mite prevention.
so what i'm picking up is that hermies happen from bad genes and over stressing. what does cutting most of the fan leaves off in the last week do? how about in the last two weeks? well i heard about people doing it and so i did it, it started off because my 8 weekers got mites, so i started removing them and the infected leaf. read a little more about it and decided to do the other 4. then a wild hair, i did a Northern Lights that was lst'd, leaving only a few leaves on it and it's on day 48.
i enjoy experimentation and feel strongly that without it lays the groung work for rumors. what causes hermi's and i'll try it on one or two plants. i have some in all phases, clone, veg, day 14 flower, day 48 flower, day 59 flower.
let's get to the bottom of this, i don't want to feel scared about stressing my plant to help it produce more quality smoke.
