I am grow six plants from some pretty good bagseeds. i have a 40 gallon rubbermaid tub that i converted into a grow box. I cut 3 holes in the lid and they were just big enough to thread the Y-spitters through it. Then i took sockets and threaded them on to the splitters and this is so they stay snug. The white fan is just from a bathroom vent that i stripped down. I cut a hole for that as well and screwed it on with the blade poking through the box. I spliced the fan with the lights so that it turns on with them. On the side of the box there is a black fan. This fan stays on 24/7 on low speed. i got this fan from home depot for $10 and i just cut the plastic cage off. i cut a hole in the side for this and just screwed it on. I also covered the walls and lid with tin foil. The lights i am usin are four 26wt and two 40wt. i think i am around 18000 lumens. the tempurature stays around 85 with the lid cracked. and i think the pots that they are in are 1 gallon clay pots. Soil is Miricle grow organic blend. Nutes for now is Miricle grow all purpose and right now i am only doing 1/4 strength. Advice is helpful lol.

Do you plan to flower then in your tub? How tall can they get?

I wouldn't start giving them any nutes yet. Wait a while before you do. It is like pumping a 2 yr old kid full of steroids and I don't think that would go over very well...
Just my 2c.

I plan on starting flower in there but with another tub on top. This tub is just for the babies. Right now they still have a lil bit to grow before i make the box bigger. i also picked up another bathroom vent for suckin air out of the box. I have pics from today but i have to find the cord for the camera.

Any chance you can throw a vapor dome over top of them? Another rubbermaid perhaps? They'll like that too for the first 2 weeks or so. Put a few breath holes in the dome. Don't forget to breath the dome periodically, and that you need to adjust them slowly when you remove the dome.

right no i cant with the way the box is set up. but the light is about 3-4 inches from the top of the plant so i am going to throw another tub on top in about a week

This is what i am using to water my plants with. It is made for weed killer but i only put clean filtered water in it. I refill that blue 5 gallon jug and pour 3 gallons into the sprayer. This works very well. Also there are tiny little white critters roaming the surface of the soil latley. Any ideas on wtf they are and if they can harm the plant.

I was also thinking about gettingto63 watt cfls which have 7000 lumens. Do you think its needed?

04-26-2010, 04:16 PM
No, it isn't worth it. The bulbs larger than 23w cfls don't actually get more lumens into the plant. You should read about it in this grow ---> http://boards.cannabis.com/grow-log/184064-first-time-grow-advice-please.html#post2092452 (Click HERE for link)

I had similar bugs get into one of my plants a few months back. I have a friend who is an avid grower and he told me to put apple cider vinegar in a little dish next to the plants. it got the bugs outs. Idk if its the same thing or not, but it wouldnt hurt to try it :rastasmoke:

I am going to make a grow box similar to yours. I have a hps light that im going to put in instead. keep me posted on your grow, and I'll let you know when i start my next one. (Im going with some auto-flowering strains; waiting on the seeds). fox farm soil is the way to go also. I'm gonna use some nutes that were highly recommended to me called yellow bottle; kinda pricey. If you want cheaper nutes, look into canna brand nutes. you want veggie a & b, and flores a & b.
another helpful hint: if that is foil in your setup take it out; put white wall paper or mylar in instead; they have a higher reflecting point than foil. :rastasmoke:

Yeah thats temporary i will be upgrading as i go along in this grow. Also i used white aquarium pebbles to keep the moisture in the soil and to reflect light under the plants in a previous grow. Should i use them again or is there higher risk of mold or something. Ill keep you updated often.

All of your "ladies" appear to be sativa. My last grow was sativa and it turned out to be much better than I expected.
Try to keep them as short as possible. If you don't have a lot of height to grow in then you may want to think about topping, lst, or something of that sort...

First off, I do not know if they will cause mold or not. I can see where they could, but I have no clue.
^
If they are sativa they are gonna get lanky. I recommend LST because it seems to be the easiest way to train the plants ( plus I have used it on my previous grow). LST allows you to have several main colas which=more buddha.
The lil ladies are looking good though! keep it up. Hopefully my seeds will get here within the next couple of days

i was adjusting one of the tie-downs on one of the plants and it snapped 3 nodes off. how do you think this will affect the plant with its training and its yield? the other pic is one of the plants being topped [attachment=o243829]

All the plants are taking the training wonderfully. I used half strength MG on day 18.there are some yellowing leaves on th bottom but i am not to worried about them to much though. i will start 12/12 in about a week and a half maybe a little longer. Tell m what u think. the first pic is the group. second is the one that i cut on accident and the third is the one i topped.

I think the yellowing leaves with brown spots was a nitrogen deficiency.

Man i like what you have done with that box. Bringing air in and out is great for growth. If all your stems are like thate second pic, you got some plants that could put out a good yield. But, dont flower them before the branch growth is symmetrical, which there not yet. Let them veg at least 30 days as they should be mature then, or close enough. Plus you should top at the 3rd node, or 3 sets of leaves. This will keep them shorter for you.
Its sorta funny because your plants look nice an healthy and your doing everything too early. When there young they will let ya get away with more, but as they get bigger there not so forgiving. Just dont want what looks like a great grow hermy by stress. I see ya got a issue with hight, but LSTing the heck out of them will fix this. But flowering to early may give ya males or Hermie's. But you have done so much so early already and they still look great. Mine were like that too when they started as far as the nodes being tight like that and for my first indoor, turned out with what i believed a good yield. I dont have hight issues tho.
Its on you man, but i would not go 12/12 till all branch growth is symmetrical as this shows maturity. Your yield could be a oz or more difference and to me thats enough to wait. Guess on the oz, but id bet close. If you can get same size tub and stack bottom to bottom, it will give you twice the space.
Good luck man, il be watching this one:thumbsup:

yeah i got another tub ready to go on top. i installed another vent as well to suck more air out. you'll see when they are big enough to throw it on. Also all the stems on each of the plants look like the second pic. They are doing so good and taking the training really well. yeah i am going to start 12/12 as soon as they are ready. prolly another week or two. thanks for the input and ill keep you updated.

Tday 28
I might put them into flower in 2 or 3 days.
i threw the top on the grow box and raised the lights. so hopefully i can get them to strech a little bit. Also the leaves on the ground are pretty much dead but everything else is pretty healthy. Tell me what u think.
