Hey guys, i have had my white widow plants flowering for 35 days, im just wondering what color the little milky white things go when there reaching maturity? (you know thoise little milky whitish hairs comming from the bud) i know when they change color roughly 70 - 80% its in peak maturity, so i wans just wondering if any of you have grown white widow before what color they turn so i can start watching out for it? thanks in advance.

Peace.

hey there, First of all, You have a long way to go with your grow before they are mature enough for you to worry about harvesting. The average white widow will take up to 80 days to completely flower. If you are going by Trichomes, then wait until 50% are milky white. I have a piture of what you should look for, but am not sure if it worked.

Good luck,

Keep smokin,

get a 60x microscope and check the trichomes, when they turn an amber color ur widow is ready for harvest. that is the best way to determine when ur plant is at its peak in maturity!

Hey, thanks for the replies.. Im a bit confused on the trichromes thing, i was under the impression that trichromes are those milky white little hairs sticking out of the bud about and inch out of the bud, (there are loads on each bud) i dont need a magnifing glass to see these. Are these the trichromes? or am i mistaking them for something else if so, how can i identify the trichromes, thanks?

Peace.

trichomes are the crystals. they look like little white mushrooms all over the place. with those crystals u need a magnifying glass!

Ok thanks, is there any other way to tell when the plant is ready to harvest other than looking at the trichomes, thats gives an accurate harvest at peak thc levels?

thats why you look for the amber colored crystals, the THC is at its full potential when the crystals are amber. another way you can determine if its mature, is 80% of the hairs are red.

When the white hairs (otherwise known as Pistols) turn browny red ur plant will be ready to harvest :D

Hey i have been looking at the tiny buds and they have loads of white hairs about an inch sticking out of the bud i looked further down the plant around the middle and the odd white hair has turned a sort of reddish/brownish im 40 days into flowering the buds are kinda petite are these the pistols and when all of these little white hairs sticking out of the buds are red i am ready to harvest? also at 40 days should i expect the buds to fatten out there only about 2 inchs tall and about an inch wide :(? thanks for your replies, happy growing!

Peace.

just wait til 75 or 80% (use your judgement) of the pistols turn redish brown then harvest. dont worry about it dude. just let em grow and see how it goes.

The longer you wait to harvest the more couch lock type high you will get.
For example cloudy trichomes and not yet amber you get a more up energetic high then if you wait for lots of amber trichomes then you get a more couch lock type high. The strain genetics also play a role.

Good Growing!
