I've been working on a personal project photographing the storefronts of local dispensaries. Mostly just so I can look back at 2010, the year there was a dispensary on every corner -- sometimes two! -- and Mr. Stinky's was just two doors down from A Mile High Alternative.

I ended up creating a Google map to keep record of the places I'd taken pics of, as well as to know where I needed to go to next. There are other maps out there and I've taken pretty much everything from all of those other maps plus some. If you know of a dispensary that's not listed please tell me!!! Through this has grown this sick fascination of watching Denver turn into a greener and greener blob ;)

Anyway, I figured the maps would be helpful for mmj users. I just recently realized that if it was to be useful to anyone else I should include contact info, so I've just started adding that...but for now there's 200 locations on the Denver map and like 50 on the Boulder/Longmont map.

I'm not entirely confident on the existence of locations marked in yellow, but I'm doing a big picture run tomorrow and if I get pics of them the marker will turn green. Places that are green I either have pics of, or am very confident they exist. And finally the lone purple spot will be a new trend, marking places that are appointment only.

Again, if you know of a place that's not on these maps, please let me know!

Interesting...what do the red, yellow, and green markers reference?

How can I correct your location?

And if the answer is "You can't" can ya tell me how to correct your competitor's One Brown Mouse for jumping the gun? ;)

Interesting...what do the red, yellow, and green markers reference?

I've taken pics of places with a solid green marker.

Green markers with a dot are places I've either seen (but don't have a pic of), or have a solid reason to believe exists.

Yellow markers with a dot are places I'm a little unsure of. They're probably there, but they might not be.

There should only be one other marker that's a different color, it's magenta-ish ("purple"). That place is appointment only, and as I find out about them I'll mark the other appt. only places purple.

So I went out this weekend (it was gorgeous!) and took a slew more pics.

I really like the Colfax location of the clinic. Looks very nice and inviting, especially for something on easterly colfax (near Dahlia).

On the other end of the spectrum we have this place:
http://i1047.photobucket.com/albums/b472/DenverDispensaries/Denver%20Dispensaries/P1010039.jpg
Even if I were a guy I wouldn't want to shop there. That was located in the back corner of a very sad, depressed, old, poorly maintained parking lot just a few blocks W of Sheridan on 20th.

I love it when there's places right next door to eachother like here:
http://i1047.photobucket.com/albums/b472/DenverDispensaries/Denver%20Dispensaries/P1010043.jpg

Or here:
http://i1047.photobucket.com/albums/b472/DenverDispensaries/Denver%20Dispensaries/P1010029.jpg

Or Broadway and Evans...but I haven't been able to figure out how to get all those places into one pic ;)

And I love the US flag on the side of this place, seems extra fitting

Anyway, the map now has over 200 points for Denver and over 50 for Boulder/Longmont/Ned. I've taken pictures of about 80 of them...so a lot of work left to do!

Since I'd seen the name around here a lot I wanted to mention I stalked The Releaf Center today:

http://i1047.photobucket.com/albums/b472/DenverDispensaries/Denver%20Dispensaries/P1010053.jpg

And I guess on Satuday I got another frequent poster's place, I just didn't know it because he's apparently disappeared:

http://i1047.photobucket.com/albums/b472/DenverDispensaries/Denver%20Dispensaries/P1010035.jpg

I know I'm kind of whoring this out to you all, and it's only partially relevant at best...but I've become a bit obsessed with this project for no good reason, and I guess I hope some modicum of usefulness will come from all the time I've wasted taking bad pictures.

The map includes well over 200 points now in the Denver area alone. ~80 points now include a photo.

All of the dispensary pics may be viewed here:

When I first got my dr recommendation, I wanted to check out every dispensary out there. Needless to say after about 50 or 60, it got really dull. But I learned real fast how to size up a place - like Saturday, girlfriend & I went into a fairly new place that opened not to far from where I live. Had to do the usual paperwork (first place to ever ask for my mail receipt), nice decor, nice security. Had to wait about 15 minutes to go back (was about to walk out when they called us back). Walked back, looked at their 4 or 5 closet grown strains, asked a couple of questions. Asked if I could borrow their scope as I didn't have mine with me (usually I do, but this wasn't a planned stop, we were just driving by & decided to check it out). Anyway guy hands me a 3x magnifying glass. Jokingly I said, "What the hell am I supposed to do with this, burn some bugs?". The kid didn't get it. Told them that one of their strains has mold. I even pointed it out to both him & my girlfriend. His reply,"Yeah the grower is a buddy of ours. He said he jarred it a little early".

I'm thinking,"Ok great....so why are you selling it????" Instead I simply said,"Ok , well I'm looking for a particular strain, thanks anyway..." Turned & walked out. Girlfriend said I had a disgusted look on my face that she had never seen before in other dispensaries.

I mean if you can't grow it right yourselves, then at least buy mediocre Cali stuff. At least your customers aren't going to get sick! I'm all for ABC (Always Buy Colorado) but I also don't want people to get sick...

Anyway, I can't remember the name. It's almost spelled like "Sativa" but it's something else. It's in SE Denver, off Hampden, across from Kennedy Golf Course, next to Centerfold's.

Take a picture as they hopefully aren't going to be around for long.... In reality, I hope they get some knowledgeable staff and get things corrected.

Haha, yea I really have no excuse for not having a pic of that one yet. I know the place you're talking about, I live pretty close to it too...maybe this evening.

Really then maybe we'll need to hang out sometime and I'll let you in on the caribbean spot.

Been to Sweetleaf off of Leetsdale yet? Not a bad place, just a little pricey. Also there's that new place Colorado Herbal Connections (something like that) @ the corner of Leetsdale & Alameda? Supposed to be a decent place but haven't check it out myself.

I'm unlicensed so I'm not about to be going in to any of these spots ;) Sorry I can't offer something more substantial like a review.

When I took pics of Herbal Connections there was a girl painting the pot leaf onto their big sign out front. I got to stop and chat with her for a moment and she mentioned how wild it was she was getting paid to paint a pot leaf on a big sign at a major intersection.

She said she wasn't affiliated with "the scene" tho.

As I was walking away some guy rushed out of the dispensary and questioned her about what I was doing there...so at least they seem to have pretty good security.

But yea, I live right off Parker and Illif and would be more than willing to meet up some time if I could learn about the Caribbean joint through the deal ;)

We must of been driving right next to each other! We passed her when she was painting the sign too. She was working on the side facing west (so if driving east, making the right turn off Alameda on to Leetsdale). That's funny.

Ah, haha, she was painting the other side when I was there. Nice.

So the Denver map now has well over 250 places located on it, and I have pics of ~125 places now.

This place has the worst hours I've ever seen:
http://i1047.photobucket.com/albums/b472/DenverDispensaries/Denver%20Dispensaries/89787.jpg

The board's beloved Herbal Elements, which due to a lack of distinct sinage can be a little tough to find:
http://i1047.photobucket.com/albums/b472/DenverDispensaries/Denver%20Dispensaries/P10180011.jpg

I attached my fav from this last round. They remind me of what shopping at Walmart on LSD must be like.

And then to top it off, their clones are covered in mites, thrips, powdery mildew, and other nasties!

I kinda like that it's sleathy like that, but would be nice if once you were inside there was some signage of sorts. All in due time I'm sure...

Haven't seen this yet, where is it?

Haven't seen this yet, where is it?

Littleton Blvd between Bannock and Delaware. It's set at the back end of a strip mall thing.

Attached is the portion of the map showing its location.

I almost made a new thread about this, but it's just way too off topic for this board....

So ThaiBuddhaMan:

Since this place doesn't seem to have private messages (or at least no option for them from the profile)...

Really, how can we get together some time so that you can tell me the secrets of this Jamaican place? I've been salivating for weeks now!

We're in the same corner of town -- maybe I can buy you and your lady some pho and you can see how harmless I really am?

By that I'm just as shady as you! ;)

vegetabongrips

Turns out I'm a shady fsck because I haven't made 50 posts yet. So really, this post is useless other than the fact that it brings me up to 30 posts.

So that's why I couldn't PM? (it mentions not being able to post pics...I wondered why my pics wouldn't show!)

Buh, silly rules. I can be chatty, but this board is slow and I have very little useful info to contribute :(

ThaiBuddhaMan

I meant check your reputation here on the board under User CP. There isn't any PM system here (as far as I know) but what we have figured out is one can leave "reputation" for another and in the reputation comments you can leave a message. Only bad part is, after leaving reputation on someone, usually you have to wait a while before leaving for that same person again. So usually the first reputation comment involves leaving an email address for off-board discussion.

Make sense?

Ah! That does. Thank you for that tip.

But I can't leave reputation until I make 50 posts. ;)

This is why I'm here. Best way to find out about dispensaries. First hand knowledge.
