Hi I m in the process of moving to montana and was wondering how to find patients to become a caregiver. I also wanted to know if clubs or dispensary are allowed in montana. And if any care givers would be interested in working with a dispensary.

I've been wondering how being a dispensery works? I'm finding that it's against the law.
What do people do with there extras from there plants?

Don't know what they do, burn it?:(
Dispensaries are illegal, MT uses the one patient one caregiver model, and as a patient, we can only buy from our caregiver.

Seems that caregivers dont fallow those rules..lol My wife and I just got our signed paper from the doc yesterday and right after we took them to two different caregivers here in town. Both let us buy 1/8 without signing them up as ours and we don't have to wait for the card from the state.
Also if by law you can grow 6 for a patient, wouldnt it be illegal to sell them anything before there plants are grown?

These dispensaries in MT are operating under the premiss that they are only selling to patients with them listed as their caregiver. They get away with it until they sell to an undercover task force agent (example: Montana Pain Managment in Missoula). The reason they sell to any patient is they have so many cards that they do have huge ammounts of product over the limit.
As a patient, you are legal to buy from any source - as a caregiver you are only able to sell directly to your patients.

Could you share more info or a link to a story?
Thanks!!!

Thought I'd better post the following, directly pulled from the state law. I wouldn't want anyone to get in trouble because of misinformation. You can only have one caregiver at a time and you have to apply with a change of caregiver request to the state to change your caregiver.
(6) (a) "Caregiver" means an individual, 18 years of age or older who has agreed to undertake responsibility for managing the well-being of a person with respect to the medical use of marijuana. A qualifying patient may have only one caregiver at any one time.

I should have added this to the above post. Having papers in your possesion that you have applied for the card is in a dicey legal area. I believe it's up to the indivdual judge on what the case outcome may be. In Missoula County a judge ruled that a person had waited the 21 days to get their card issued, therefore it was legal for them to purchase mm. I believe the DPHHS has that set as their turnaround time. In other words be very cautious until you have your physical card in hand.
(3) (a) A qualifying patient or caregiver is presumed to be engaged in the medical use of marijuana if the qualifying patient or caregiver:
(i) is in possession of a registry identification card; and
(ii) is in possession of an amount of marijuana that does not exceed the amount permitted
under subsection (2).

Sorry my messages keep timing out before I can edit them. To answer the OP, probably the easiest way to get exposure as a caregiver is to attend one of the caravan conventions that rove the state signing up people for their cards. They allow caregivers to set up at the conventions and show their wares / offer their services. I believe this is free on a first come first served basis for table space.
