Discovery Communications â?? the parent company of The Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, TLC and others, and known for their wildlife-focused programs â?? is planning to produce an 8-part TV show on Sarah Palin's Alaska.

Sarah Palin's Alaska is a "reality TV" show that aims to showcase the "powerful beauty of Alaska," according to Discovery's TLC website.

But the real Sarah Palin is no friend of Alaska's natural heritage. While in office, the former governor fought against increased protections for endangered whales and America's dwindling populations of polar bears in favor of oil and gas development, supported dangerous drilling for oil in the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge, and escalated Alaska's brutal aerial wolf-killing program.

Yet according to reports, Palin will earn about $1 million per episode from the nature-focused series.

Act now: Send a powerful message to Discovery Communications expressing your disappointment at their action and urging them to drop Sarah Palin's new show from their programming schedule. (http://www.change.org/petitions/view/urge_discovery_communications_to_drop_sarah_palins _new_show?alert_id=pPVlHNgGOM_XvKSVrneWc)

It's important that the truth about Sarah Palin's record not be swept under the rug by her celebrity. Palin's disrespect for the environment and disregard for science and has done real damage to Alaska's wildlife and endangered Alaska's natural heritage.

Send a message to Discovery Communications and let them know that Sarah Palin doesn't deserve to represent the "powerful beauty of Alaska" in front of millions of people.

Take action today > (http://www.change.org/petitions/view/urge_discovery_communications_to_drop_sarah_palins _new_show?alert_id=pPVlHNgGOM_XvKSVrneWc)

Thanks for taking a stand,

Ahh. Kinda like the truth about Obama's drug use or his being a socialist unconcerned with the US Constitution, or his black reparation theology leanings...? :wtf:

I'll be sure not to miss the Discovery show though.

haha, could care less about the two parties but I got to admit I do get a kick out of hearing her talk, and hearing her facebook status messages as news segments lol.. She makes me feel really smart when she talks too, she reminds me of...

but in all seriousness, it is ludicrous that she is going to make millions off of the wildlife that she showed no respect for

Have y'all *BEEN* to Alaska?? (and not just the cities either :wtf: )
Have y'all ever dealt with the oild industry other than putting gas in your vehicles??
Have y'all acdually *DONE* anything remotely resembling development of oil spill cleanup methods that *don't* destroy the effected area??
Have y'all actually *SEEN* these animals natural habitat??
Have y'all ever had a hand in the discovery of new species of marine life??

If not, then you really don't have a clue. Maybe if you were to do some studying (and not from CNN, MSNBC, NBC, ABC, or CBS)... then you might find that the oil industry today is a far cry from what it was 20 years ago.
But... If you really *WANT* to pay for $5.00/gal gasoline, as well as the cumulitive effects on businesses of all sizes that translate to uncontrolled inflation, higher unemployment, and higher prices for *EVERYTHING* without comensurate increases in salary....then go ahead on with your misguided "save the planet" philosophy.

As a retired Coastie that spent 4 years of that time as a polution investigator, having sailed from pole to pole, as well as being a business owner for the last 14 years, I speak from first hand experience.

You can say what you want, but when all else fails, common sense applies.

BTW.. here's another tidbit for you.... if petroleum products can be taken off the futures market, and the oil companies regulated like they were 30 years ago, bring the price of fuel at the pump back down to $1.50 or less at the pump....... this would give the average 1 car family an additional $2,000 in disposable income per year *WITHOUT* additional taxes. In these parts, thats a months salary for most folks..
Think on that for a while.

This is not new or news... aerial hunting is used for animal population control in Lousianna, Texas, New Mexico, and a lot of other places, as well as a lot of other countries. The targets are generally preditors like wolves, coyotes, etc., because the food chain has become lopsided, people have been attacked, domesticated animals/livestock have been attacked. Regular hunting seasons and fishing seasons are regulated for the same reasons. This is simple common sense.

Maybe you should get out of the house once in a while....
FWIW, some of the best ecologists are hunters.

This is not new
nope, this about 10 years old, and was outlawed by Government for being cruel and inhumane way of hunting decades back. Palin even attempted to pay a bounty to hunters for each wolf killed, which was illegal and didn't happen. But hey, if it provides more moose and caribou for human hunters to kill then I guess it is alright, I concede to your flawless logic.

Not sure why you're telling me to get out of the house? what the fuck that supposed to mean?

It means that instead of coming up with old youtube clips, and parroting what the liberal media is spewing, that you need to go out and *SEE* first hand what is really happening and find out *WHY* from the people who are doing the job. In my 54 years, I have been there, and done that.
A real good rule is to not believe anything you hear and only half of what you see, then you will have a better prospective.

I am terribly sorry for interrupting, but am I in the wrong place. ... This is my first venture into this part of the boards

It seems pretty contentious here. Better go back to Washington.

:greenthumb: no, stick around, Dank. you are correct. The activist section should be only for cannabis activists related topics. :twocents:

this thread belongs in the politricks section, and yes it can get pretty contentious in there. So much so that I think they removed that subforum for a while. it was becoming a distraction from the spirit of this web site.
