ohh man.. so im a medical patient here in socal and i grown a couple plants a year from bagseed outside normally and while i was in my favorite dispensery VALLEY PATIENTS:thumbsup: i was gettin some meds and i see this AMAZING GIMORMO mother plant sitting there looking at me.... this thing is about 4.5' and the stalk is like 1.5'' so 80bucks later and now big momma is mine lol... i would like to either put it in the ground or in a trash can so i can take it in when it gets too big or to force it to flower... he said use fox soil but idk.. i would greatly appreciate any opinion or word of wise and just curious if i bury this thing halfway up the stalk wil the stalk take root also because the stalk is freakin tall and i figure better root ball to maybe? btw pics a lil later today:hippy:

Yo dude, go to your hydro shop and ask for Sunshine mix 4. I prefer that better than FoxFarm. Also just leave her outdoors, if your a med patient you have nothing to worry about, bring it inside to force flower into a dark room, return her outside 12 hours later. Put her in a rubbermaid, not a garbage can :). Good luck

Totaly fine to put a chunk of that stem under the soil. I would actually suggest just the for your girl. Since she's already a mother why don't you take acouple clones off of her and then just put her to flower? I've realized with my girls that the lower buds get so little light I shouldve just cloned the heck out of the lower branches and then put her into flower. Blue dream looks amazing, it may even be my next canidate depending on how this log looks in another thread. The soil you purchased I'm not going to hate on because it can really get the job done. However I will jus throw the heads up at ya that sometimes the moiture controls and things of that nature make things kinda just pop up outta no where because you can't control when some things are being released. Ofcoarse this is not your first grow so you should have it all figured out. Keep a ph pen handy when using the MG.

If you're gonna use moisture retaining soil, I'd un-plant that baby into something smaller, like immediately. You are going to water that thing once, it's gonna weigh 120 lbs or more, and the water is going to lose its O2 (and your plant will drown in soggy soil) before it needs watering again. The roots can't get to all that water in their current form.
Fungus gnats will love that environment, too.
Sorry I didn't see this sooner. HTH, Hermie
I think a 400W HPS will handle that plant, as it looks at this point.

ok so i messed up? dang man... i dont think ive ever used anything else to grow other than mg with moisture control. but i guess i could understand how that could work. as of right now it will take a day or two to dry out this soil so that is in fact a possibility however during the summer its gonna get pretty hot out here in so cal desert. i just figured it would be cool from past experience. i actually think it might try and flower a bit before the days start getting longer for a few weeks or so but i think it will kick into veg just fine soon if this happens. and i think i will in fact take a few clones after this thing starts picking up the pace

Hermie is so right man about the roots not growing, or rotting. This will stop all the top growth with small yield if any. A 5 gallon or smaller, then keep re potting to get the roots grown big enough for your big trash can. But in the trash can i might mix your soil with some gravel to give it drainage so air gets to your roots. I grew a giant male:( in a 5 gallon this way and it was huge. It might be more work but you will get more top growth with more yield in the end. They luv getting re potted. IMO they grow faster also.
And Hermie knows what he's doing for sure:thumbsup:
My 2 cents, good luck:rasta:

Keep in mind, this guy is growing in the desert of Southern CA. from I what I recall by his postings. That is probably why he went hog wild on moisture retention. Under normal rainfall conditions in the Mid-West, you still have to water a 5 gal. bucket on a weekly basis.

I'm not too far off, I just threw one on a scale. It was watered 3 days ago and weighs 60lb. Keeping in mind this plant is only 8 weeks old, at full maturity when freshly watered will weigh close to 100 lb.

Well of course it would need watered on a weekly basis. When did i say anything about watering. I said some small gravel will help with drainage. But like Hermie said, the roots will get no air and could rot easy. Its just a lot of soil with out a bunch of roots. So he's going to water and never know if its used by the plant, which will create pockets of wet mud that will smother her. Its much better to start off in a smaller pot to build enough roots to fit the big trash can. If when its watered, the water goes all the way to the bottom. Thats one big pot. lol Not that it couldnt work, all im saying is the roots need built up to fit down in it to allow air in so yield is max. Iv never re potted a plant that didnt take off after.

alright so its been a while but heres the update. i didnt like the way she looked after a few days so i decided to do it ol country style and i dug a hole. i dug this hole about 4' deep and 3' wide. i then filled this hole with my potting mix while mixing in dirt about half and half... after looking at the rockwool cubes i realized the roots were deep inside so i cut it up to the roots where i could see em then i just planted it.. the holes big enough for all my soil and an equal amount of dirt which is kinda rocky sandy so i think it might help my soil a bit. im in the high desert in california so it gets pretty hot and it should be able to dry out quite a bit during the summer i just need more sunny days because after i planted her it rained for 2 days straight and she stayed out there takin hell and she still survives.. its been all week about 80 or so and i see a small bit of new growth on the bottom but is slow i think the days are still kinda short so its trippen her out a bit. its been about 13 hours or so in my neck of the woods. plus the giant mountain to block the sun. i hope she makes it because its gonna rain again by monday i might just make her a clear cover of some sort. i think she will make it shes pretty tough if i make it to the heat she will do just fine i know it. i just started a little early i think.. pics...

I wouldn't pull anything off till ya need a ladder to reach it:hippy:. That thing will start to root real well, because you put it in deep and dug up a pretty good area. By clearing all the grass away was good to keep it away from the nutes, so your plant will have no competition for it. Just let it grow man. If a dead leaf is on it the wind will take it. Plus if its dead, its not doing anything, but if theres life in it, then it will feed your plant. The more leaves outside the better so they catch all that nice sunshine which gives you giant buds.
You might think about fim to get more top's. I got 7 top's and that was by seed, you have a lot to work with there. You could make that plant giant. It looks great and in 4 months from now its going to be huge:hippy:This is just what Fim did for me last year and it was easy. That pant would grow into a giant tree man:cool:

Man really, your yield will be fine. If a bud would appear, it would only re veg its self and if this would happen it would end up throwing out new branches from the bud, if that would happen. I dont think it will, but if it does i believe it will increase your yield.
Here is a plant that had been grown, harvested and now in the re veg process, which i intend to plant outside after a re pot and recovery. It will grow into a big bush with lots an lots of buds, just not big ones. But as good as what i harvested from it and way more yield. Its been re vegged for 7 weeks. It started this, because i left a few buds to promote branch growth as i had no leaves to work with. There were only 4-5 buds on the stems i didn't cut down and iv created all this growth from those buds, so you could wish for it to give more branch growth. After last harvest [3] i just put the lights back to 18/6 and a re pot and waited. So, your plant would only do the same. So you only need to feed it and water it and you will be fine with yield.
Check out Rusty's log in Advanced Techniques:thumbsup:and you will see the pro with this method im using, its very interesting, plus it just makes sense doing as you see. My log will be up soon:) Oh and this is a NL#5 which helps the best for my pain, so far:jointsmile:

I guess i should start the thread with how the plants began there path from inside to re vegged outside. Its interesting and worth doing because the plant finishes but then replenishes. So, why not use the method, its only going to give you a bigger yield then it did the first go-around:jointsmile:. You just need to finish a plant before you can re veg it tho.

hey thanks for stoppin by guys :) i just hope she kicks into veg mode soon so i can get a couple clones to put out... i was thinkin just clone it but i dont know how it would take with it flowering and all.. what you guys think? im gonna put them in my buddys veg box.. clones usually do good with the co2 and theres blue and white flouros in there.. OR would i yield more just leavin it be and not grow clones? i just wanted to take like 2 clones cuz i dont want too many ya know...:wtf:
It will flower 3 months or more so you have plenty of time to get clones. But wait till its in full veg before taking clones. You will have better luck then. Also, dont worry about it, soon the flowers you see will burst it into branch growth there and you need more branch growth anyway. The pic i posted here had only 3-4 small buds on it and look at it now. I re potted it yesterday, right before i had to bury my dog. He died at 7;30 that morning. He was a great dog, Im really bumbed...

Thanks everyone about my dog:hippy:sucks. Here is a pic of him while we were checking plants. He was my best friend. He was a service dog that picked up anything i would drop and he could pull my chair, one great pal.

Very good looking dog man, those golden retrievers are some good dogs. I had 2 blue healers they came down with heart worms, took them to tha vet cured them they were heathy showed no signs. Then my male dog showed signs again and before i could take him to tha vet he died so i took tha female to tha vet.
She had no signs at all but i took her anyway tha vet treated her and when i came back to get her they told me that she died. And i was like wtf they said sometimes when they treat them that the heart worms clog the heart or some shit and they die there was nothing they could do well i still think that was bullshit to this day. but with any luck man ya will get another dog and im sure he or she will be as close as he was.

Hey man, how about a few pics of the side branching and not so many from the top. Its just easier to get an idea how the plant is growing.
