Hey all, i am new to the forum. I am an unemployed electrical engineer and have recently been tasked by a friend with coming up with an energy efficient grow system. I am really just starting my LED design and it seems to change daily. reguardless I came across a bit of news in my travels today about a AC/DC dimmable LED controller from Cypress:

Cypress Extends Lighting Portfolio with AC-DC Power Controller Family For Dimmable LED Lighting - MarketWatch (http://www.marketwatch.com/story/cypress-extends-lighting-portfolio-with-ac-dc-power-controller-family-for-dimmable-led-lighting-2010-03-29?reflink=MW_news_stmp)

It is a 10W LED controller that will work with standard 120-240 AC power, and will also work with normal dimmer controlls for home lighting.

Cypress also provides a design guide, as this is not a stand alone product. It requires a circuit board and several other electrical components:

To me this product represents what could be a stab at a decently effecient LED grow system that you dont have to be an engineer to build and can be built incrementally as the grower needs.

I am wondering if there is any interested members that would like to help start an Open Source project that would hopefully open up LED growing to the masses. This obviously is not a production type solution, this is more of a DIY type stick in the closet solution and will not benefit my current design other then possible supplimental lighting... this would be more for the people:rastasmoke:

note to admin: sorry if you cant post links, I am not affiliated with cypress in anyway other then reading the press release form this morning.
