ok this was yesterday, and 2 much light was being wasted i thought, so i cuz off half the room, and i put 2 lights closer with tin foil reflectors, now it looks like this:

Hey there,
You can flower with any amount of light.
The difference will be in the size and weight of your buds.
More light=more penetration=more bud.
Rule of thumb is 50watts per square feet but not limited to that.

and more with floros as they are less penetrating. seems your plant recovered from a big strech eh?

that is true :) it was badly stretched b4, i still dotn know if she is totally allright tho. i put those 2 lights on the sides to get more light inside, her 1st branches are coming out now, so i want to get light on those leaves, they grew a lot today as a result of that i think. could i flower with this setup alone do you think? or would i still NEED those 2 more lights i was talkin about? i assume it would be better if i got the 2 more.

yes the more flouros u have the better it is for flowering.I pesonally use 12 flowering flouros 48'' X40W for the sky and sides, and an MH conversion up in the middle as the sun.

put the light even closer, that plant will never grow good but if you work with it and its a female you may get a small amount of bud. at least it looks a little cool. don't use foil just have white walls around it even that will work better. you probably know you need better lights so there is no need in me telling you.

yeah, i just cant really get better lights, for reasons i wont go into right now. why wont i get much bud? just damaged from the stretch? should i flower now and cut my losses and start a new one? how much bud will i get if i flower now as opposed to later?

i've seen nice harvests come from a closet grow lit by nothing more than flouro's...a shitload of flouro's but all the same, it worked well enough. but if you work out the math you'll find the costs are virtually the same for buying and using when switching to a 460-600. i have 10" clones doing great under 3 dbl banks of 40w flouros (240w total) but they'll do better when the sunmasters become available for vegging again...

iow, if you can add more flouoro's, do so...but you'll get enough this time to want more the next, i'm sure...

good luck

I've had excellent results from my compact fluoroscents. 2.5 ounces in just 3 months. Everyone that has sampled it has given me a 8.5-9/10.

I grew some killer weed on my first grow with nothing but fluoro's.

It can be done.

well i mean should i wait and get more? or should i just go now and start a new one with more light afterwards? even though it got stretched will the "triple while flowering in size" rule still apply? if so, then it is rather tall for my closet. also, it has red petioles and a little red on the stalk... i thought it was "mexican redhair" (lots of that stuff where i live) but i dont think so anymore. someone said a P deficiency will do that... but when it developed it was getting 5 30 5

i've found that a 400W low-bay HID (either MH or HPS) with a reflector and gasketed lens works well in my 3'x3' shower stall. Stall stays between 80-85deg w/ 60% hum. I can hold my hand directly on the lens so buds won't burn.
Just remember to keep the light within an inch or two to prevent stretching.

Nothing wrong with flouros....Finish the grow with what you have and see how it turns out. If you have the budget and you want to go to HID, then the more the merrier. I have 7 beautiful females growing in flouros and budding well......the next grow will be in HPS without a doubt, a little is good, more is better....good luck with your babies........
