I found a good deal on one shopping on Ebay. I just got a 4X with a little 8 or 10X ring in the glass. It is about 3 to 4 inches in diameter and works great for checking trichomes and for mites. I would recommend spending the few extra bucks to get a nice GLASS one. The plastic ones always seem to get all scratched up.

I use a 13x lope for checking bugs, and a 30x scope for checking trichomes. the ones i use are sold at any head shop or hydro store.
ebay is a great place to. cheaper and you can find nice ones with cool carrying cases. same price too. I am kind of a sucker for cases. I like everything nice and neat.

Radio Shack has one cheap and if you look online there are lots of reviews about looking at trichomes.
Awesome to see our hobby out in the open. :)

I agree the smaller more high powered ones are great for looking at trichomes at a microscopic level to see how they are doing.
But I would still recommend a larger piece with a higher power "ring" in it. It gives you a good look at all the trichomes and helps spot anything nasty that may be on your plant.

Once I knew what I was looking at, I started using a 5x magnifying glass.
Before that, I used a Radio Shack pocket microscope, which is a pain to use...but it's effective. If using a microscope, easiest to tear a leaf off, lay it flat on a table, and inspect it there. Gets too shaky trying to use it while leaf is still on the plant.
