Here is my set up: 5'W 3'L 8'H grow tent. 165 cfm 4" Hydrofarm inline fan and a 4" carbon filter.

I have the inline fan sitting on top of the top vent whole on the outside of the tent. I used some dryer vent tube to run down into the tent to the carbon filter which i have hanging on its side at the top back of the tent. ( are the filters supposed to be vertical or horizontal ) mine is horizontal right now. for the intake vent i use one of the velcro flaps at the bottm side of the tent which is about 4" by 8"

Temps have been right at 78f and humdity at 50%

needless to say my house still has a pretty heavy odor and i dont know what else i can do. i was under the impression that my set up would totally eliminate the odor. i am wondering if i just have it set up wrong.

Any advise would be much appriciated.

if possible vent outside, and/or your Carbon filter is not big enough or may need a cleaning(new activated Carbon)

Try putting the filter right on the fan where you already have the fan hooked up.

And its better to pull air through the filter.

fresh air in from outside...nasty air inside pushed outside and scrubbed with filter....you will be pleasantly surprised with that result...had to modify my rooms last night in such a manner and the difference is crazy!!! I'm running 3 rooms with 5000k watts of light in each room so it gets hot pretty fast. Last night my temps never rose above 73 and 35% humidity after this modification ;)
