Apparently if you dont sleep for a while you hallucinate. Any one actually experienced this ?

We could all give up smoking pot and just not sleep !

:wtf:

Apparently after 72 hours of no sleep your brain starts producing all sorts of crazy chemicals to combat fatigue, and those can cause hallucinations.

Sensory deprivation is the most natural way to hallucinate. Look up Joe Rogan's flotation tank on youtube.. some compelling stuff. Joe is also a huge stoner these days. Which is cool.

yeah, sensory deprivation tanks, I had forgot all about them. I've alway wanted to try one. Apparently the mind doesn't need anything (literally) to create an out of mind experience. :rasta: I want to say John Lilly was another who experimented with sensory deprivation but I can't really rememeber off hand. something to dogpile at work tomorrow.

Anybody ever see Altered States? William Hurt somehow regresses down the evolutionary chain while experimenting with a sensory deprivation tank and some kind of hallucinatory drug. That movie was a trip, but I digress.

I've gone without sleep long enough to hallucinate. It's not as much fun as you might think. I didn't care for it much anyway.

As a way to get high, it fails on 3 fronts:

1. Takes too long.

2. Can't enjoy it when all you want to do is sleep.

3. Depriving yourself of dream sleep is bad for your health.

All in all, I'll stick to buds . . . literally. :D

prisoners locked in Stalins goulags, some of whome spent close to 15 years in pitch black little boxes created entire worlds they never escaped from mentally. The human mind is an amazing.

Here is a comapny in Australia that makes these things....they call 'em float tanks.

Introduction to Floating, what is sensory deprivation? (http://www.floattank.com/what.html)

i did this once. it actually happened for me somewhere around 63 hours in. though i had to work for all three days that i was awake. didnt eat either, kind of a strange few days. i eventually fell asleep after trying to make it to four days, but i took an hour long nap the next day, and then worked then slept. it was a pretty strange weekend. not really enjoyable, but nice.

yes, you definitely do hallucinate, but it is very bad for your physical/mental health. I have had a few awake binges in my past, it is nothing like an enjoyable trip. There are much better ways to make yourself hallucinate out there.

you realize that sensory deprivation is used as a torture method, right?

Yep had it happen a few times. Truck driving across the country without sleep 3 or 4 nights of sleep will do it to you. You have to recognize the signs and know that its time to get a nap. And its very hard on your health. After 20 years of truckdriving I can no longer get 5 or 6 hours of sleep and that wears on the body.

smoking weed makes you hallucinate? Not sleeping for long periods of time is horrible for your health. And yes, it will make your head go a little loco....it messes with your senses and makes your mind foggy.

This is what causes alot of drug addicts to go crazy....lack of sleep. I stick to the herb....all natural....I fall asleep like a baby every night!

Yes, very much so! I'm a security officer and I work nights, four 8 hour nights and one 12 hour night. I work alone basically in the desert with all sorts of desert creatures roaming around. These nights if I'm tired enough I'll start hearing noises and start seeing things that aren't there. At times I mix this up with the real noises and imagery though I kinda enjoy it because it gets me through the night :D

Oh and if you don't get enough sleep you can and will die as goes for the same for too much sleep! :(

As a matter of fact I'm sleep deprived right now
