11 weeks, no amber trics

Is this normal? 4 different strains, all with white trikes... no ambers yet
and 11 weeks in flower. Perfect 12/12 with no leaks, constant airflow, constant 72 degrees day and 62 at night.

Dual 400 HPS in a 3x6x8T closet, beautifully ventilated and temperature controlled. GH nutes, no major issues with plants at all... successful soil grow (Sunshine #4)

NYCD, BANANA KUSH, TRAINWRECK, WHITE WIDDOW - the plants have an uber-kazillian trichomes that are now all milky white, been getting that way for a week or so. Now today still not a single ambler trichome.

I'm sure It's normal and I have nothing to worry about... Just tell me why not to worry and how long till amber comes around... and I won't worry.

i would havest white widow in a few days..., and let others to mature into amber, if thats what you like(meaning that you looking for a heavy type of stone)

Yep, thinking the same... I now know that I have harvested other crops too soon... and with the variety of strains I have, I imagine I'll have a nice
mix of head and body if I wait till I have some amber trichs.

Can't seem to find any "thread of consistency" in the forums on how long it takes for the "Average" set of trichomes to go from white to amber... 3 days - 5 days - 1 week?. Just curious to know if there is an average... unlike waiting to get trichomes... I know each plant is different. Same with THC decay?

Am I missing a nubie page I didn't find on the subject.

Any help... I'm just impatient and don't want to wait too long, or cut too early. Like any good nubie should do.

what are you using to look at the trichs?...pocket microscope? loupe?

one dude said he was color blind & couldn't see red (amber)

Do not go by a fixed number of weeks for flowering. The amber trichomes are the indicator for ripeness. The times given by the seed companies are not a given figure since every growing system is a little bit different and environmental conditions are not the same in every grow.

The only true sign of ripeness is the milky trichomes turning to amber. You must use a good magnifying glass, or a good loupe, or one of the usb scopes for the computer to view the trichomes to determine ripeness. There is not one given figure for flowering times as every species is different. Early harvest will result in much lost yield and reduced thc content.

Good sizes for production are 4", 6" (1 gal), and 3-5 gal for finishing. I start seeds in jiffy 7 peat pellets then transplant to a 4 1/2" or 1 gal pot when roots show on outside of peat pellet. When that pot is filled with roots on the side and bottom transplant to a 3 or 5 gal pot.

Generally speaking the larger the pot the bigger the root system gets, resulting in larger top growth and bigger plants. The longer grows also result in higher potency plants. Sometimes I use the root ball from the spring harvest, return to 18 hours photo-period to change the remaining branches on the lower part or the plant to pre-flowering stage, then plant outdoors for a nice really potent fall harvest outside

11 weeks in flower cycle? that's really long! I have some white widows in an indoor setup that have been flowering for 5 weeks and I can already see the trichs turning amber....I'm curious to see what your plants look like. Do you have any pics?

And to have 4 different strains that are all not showing amber coloring after 11 weeks is odd to me....most cases those plants should have been harvested 3 weeks ago!!!

Yeah, I think you see not seeing the amber trichs somehow. I think it can get tricky in the red/orange light of an HPS! Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think sometimes it can be hard to see them because they just get slightly amber-tinted. Its not a full-on dark amber color always!

I've got white widow going also and have read a shitload of grow journals. White widow is a quick finisher, like 50-60 days. By all accounts, at 65 days you will have a nice number of amber trichs for a heavy stone! You are at like 80 days!

However, I don't think its a loss. I've been wanting to take one of my plants to like 50+% amber and see what the boss is like!

I have a Canon Powershot SD750. Its a 7.1 mega pixel. Its not the best camera in the world but its not the worse. Attached is a picture i just took this morning. If you open and expand the picture to its max size. You can actually see the trichs reflecting light and the color as well. As you can see most of the amber trichs are further away from the bud and on the suger leaves. As the plant ripens they will continue to work their way up closer and closer to the bud and will fill in more and more. I really honestly think your just not seeing them or looking in the wrong place. 11 weeks with no amber tichs is really really really really odd especially on multiple strains and plants. The bud in the picture is 5 weeks into flowering and already has at least some amber.
