Does anyone know what causes powder mildew?

Airborn spores are everywhere and will begin to grow where ever conditions are right for them.
Warm, humid, stagnant air will kickstart it, and a plant's overall health can limit, or augment it's growth.
The best defense is a lush, vigorous, plant with good ventilation.
For remedies, just do a local search.
Can't help you with that, because the only real remedy here in the jungle, is to grow resistant strains.

Good luck with it.

if you get some on a plant....

cut off the effected area. it hurts, but just do it.
keep the bottom 12 inches of the plant bare of all leaves.
use neem oil 1/2 tsp organic soap 1.5 tsp neem oil 1 quart h20, spray liberally just before lights go out at night, bottoms and tops of all leaves.
last 2 weeks of flowering use ph 8.5 water instead of neem
temp always above 70F
humidity always below 45%

at the end of your cycle, disinfect the room.

PM sucks ass. it's hard to get rid off. at end of cycle, toss all plants and get fresh clones. In the mean time, beat it back with neem ever 2 or 3 days, then ph8.5 water...
