Olympia Mayor Pro Tem Arrested On Suspicion Of Selling Pot

OLYMPIA, Wash. -- A months long investigation ended with the arrest of Olympia Mayor Pro Tem and incoming Thurston County Treasurer Joe Hyer.
Hyer is accused of selling marijuana.
Only KIRO 7 was there as Hyer left jail Thursday night after posting $20,000 bail.
KIRO 7 reporter Deborah Horne asked him if he had any response to the allegations.
Hyer said, "No, certainly not yet. No... Don't even understand them yet... I haven't been read them."
Deputies arrested 37-year-old Hyer after a two month investigation involving the Thurston County Narcotics Task Force.
KIRO 7 has learned the undercover operation involved an informant that allegedly bought marijuana twice from Hyer.
Detectives searched his Olympia home but would not say what they found.
Joe Hyer was first appointed to Olympia City Council Position 7 in August 2004.
Voters re-elected him in 2005 and 2009.
Earlier this week, Thurston County commissioners informally chose Hyer to succeed Robin Hunt as county treasurer.
The appointment as treasurer is scheduled to take effect March 1st.
Hyer has said he plans to hold both the city council and county treasurer offices.
He also owns an outdoor recreation store in downtown Olympia.
