i just let the room go dark for 2 cycles basically...this stops any photosynthesis and need for nitrogen in the plant in the final moments of its life and giving your end product a smoother flavor...the buds also swell a bit more in the darkness
i never noticed any harm to the plants in the other tray by giving them the extra dark period.
thanks.....next pics will be the hanging :D
Interested in your leds, email is

Hey str8...looking good, but one thing I noticed...you really should get thet GFCI away from the 'T' on your drip line. If the line leaks or blows...you might have a BIG issue.
Having kept many coral and fish tanks, I do know that the GFCI's are useless against water, and the warranty does not cover against water damage shorting them out and causing fires. There might be some high-dollar units for marine applications, but those from WalMart or the Dollar Store are useless against moisture.
Seriously...don't catch your house on fire. Mom might get a little pissed. ;)

i just use that strip for running the pumps to water and the vacuum cleaner when doing "house cleaning"...but i do agree it needs to be changed and moved to a safer place....thanks for pointing that out...i need to get a power strip with a longer cord so i can put it in the middle out of harms way...appreciate your input...thanks :thumbsup:

Whats up! nice job. How did you like house and garden compared to AN? House and Garden nutes are really good. The lights penetrated quite far. I have been researching lights and the LED's you use are really good ones.
What strain are you growing next?
I want to see you grow an indica so bad and see how fat you can get it.
Any way. Nice job again.

i'm kinda stuck on this OG :D
i like the H&G program...its a much simpler to use than AN's formula and easier on the pocket although i do like AN's Bud Candy, Wet Betty, Voodoo Juice, and Jump Start....i still find that the OG needs Calmag also...i've been a little lazy and the camera is in the truck so i have not updated my logs lately :stoned:

The Sierra and Spur sound nice, and man do I wish I could pass it to ya. That stuff looks down right stanky.

I'd be willing to bet it was so bright the camera firmware couldn't handle it. I've caused camera lockups by pointing it at extremely bright sources of light. I remedied that by getting a camera that doesn't give a crap, although the downside to that is picture quality is rather random without careful setup.

Has the pricing settled since you started this? I'm still going through the 20 pages, but I'm finding some 12" panels for about $120 that say they replace a 250 HPS. You said you paid about 4500 for all your needs in lighting?
Have you changed the lights since feb?
Thanks!
stra8outtaWeed
06-28-2010, 02:59 PM
CC- thanks bro :smokin:
its all family here
neceros~ i can still get the lights @ 450.....i did change out the lights that were only 630nm reds and put the ones in like the others w/660nm deep red
don't get hooked on looking at price when looking at LED's...look at the spectrums the light provides, strength of diode, the degree it emits light...660nm reds are the most expensive diodes...the amount of them will determine the price :D

Hey Str8 You have just inspired me to go full LED myself. I've been just watching and learning here for years, and am finally ready to get a very small garden growing. I'm only going to need about 2 plants in the Flower cycle at any given time max, so I think I might be able to pull off building my own LED controller ballast and a much much smaller setup to yours and have excellent results. I hope to get started shortly and get a grow log soon.
Anyways I just wanted to note for you in the future when looking for a Proxy, I'd highly recomend Privoxy and Torr. You can DL and install them very fast free and hastle free. For non techie's it's so simple and your instantly routed through hundreds and thousands of host computers acting as Proxy's for you. It's great. Some websites will not let you surf under a proxy, and they can be slow. But these are excellent products for free and if you need to do it in the future then give those 2 a shot.
Awsome grow mate!
Cheers.

yeah the plants are growing good but it looks like it would be better with three or four. You can only manage one under a ufo? what color lights are you using

you are trashing leds when its the buyers fault in this case. You first of all need at leasst 2 watt diodes with less than a 120degree angles lense. your lights need more white balance full spectrum like 7000k and your reds need to be 630nm and 660nm(you have no 660) you also have too much blue for flowering stage. Im all for a thurough review and grow test but we gotta start with high quality informed lighting purchases

I have built this awesome light track that is 4'x6', (7) tracks with 6 to 8, 10/12 watt LED bulbs per track. I also have (3) 12"x12" panels running along the 6' sides and (2) on one of the 4' sides. Each is panel 10 watts?
There are (32) fs/10 watt, (15) red/10 watt, (12) magenta/12 watt in just the over head light bracket alone. My first try I only had (5) tracks with (5) lamps each. Plants came out long and spindly. Took them outside to finish due to mites. Plants grew 52 inches in 3 months. Not a good idea to let them get that tall.
Now on 2nd try, have more lights and the side panels as listed above then was used before. 7 plants are from fem seed, 20 are clones. The seeds were planted 30 days before the clones were introduced to the grow area. The seed looks much more vigor, thicker stalk, fuller foliage then the clones. May be due to the seed plants has a tap root were as the clones do not. I hope that is not the case, will get back to this part at the end. I should note that they are not of the same strain either.
I let the clones grow to 4 weeks before flowering at a approximate height of 14", while the seed is about 24" at this time. Grow time was set to 18/6, light set at about 18" above the plants. Changed light time to 12/12 about (16) days ago. For the first 14 days lights remained at 18" and now are just 2"-3" above the plants.
So far the seed plants look thick, nodes right lenght and flowering. But the lower branches are very long and extend to almost the top of the plant height, I believe to get some light intensity. Flowering only at the tip of the branches, only one set of leaf and one node so buds will be tiny-tiny-tiny if any, fingernaill size when dried. Looks like only the main center cola will have any density, and will be small compared to sunlight or HID/HDS lighting.
Unless I hear about other suggestions, my next grow plan is to just line the center of the grow area with about 10 plants and just lattice them with the LED lights in every possible way just a couple inches away on all sides for the plants. Also will consider using auto-flowering seed to keep grow time to 60 days and see if this makes a difference?
Want to test if certain varieties grow better under LED's then all varieties. Also do seed work better then clones? I tend to use the clones I made from the seed plants under the LED's as opposed to clone from clone or a clone not originated from a LED lighting system. When I tried to grow clones from outdoor plants they fialed possibly due to lighting not nearly as intense as the sun. Also the clones I planted came from HID lighting, not LED. So maybeeee, anything not started under LED and transfered to LED lighting, will not be as full and lush as one originating from the LED settings?
I need to make this work, $2,000 on just lights, any ideas? Elect for lights is about $45 per month if that much compared to $800-$1,000 on the HID lights.

Hey, Stra8! If you're around, I'd like for you to test something for me!
Grab a Kill-a-Watt and go see how much your WRX-C150s are drawing on the actual wattage per hour. A Kill-A-Watt EZ will suffice, I'm not looking for super-accurate figures.

well as we all know every LED array is over rated by the manufacturer and the WEX-C150 is no different. i assumed it was under 150 watts. i was thinking maybe 138 or 140.
needless to say, this makes what stra8 did here and what these lights can really do obvious.
the gpw just went way up sending this grow over 1 gram per watt ;)
they are using less power and because the 3 watt LEDs are not be overdriven that should prolong life...

I see this thread hasn't had any activity in a while. Just thought this might interest you Wex-C150 owners out there. One of my bars died. It was ~18 months old. I took it apart and found that one of the transformers had shorted. So I email Welthink in China. I had a response from Welthink USA within 5 hours. After some back and forth they asked me to ship it to them in VA. Cost me $45 including insurance. Within a day of receiving the light they determined that not only had the transformer gone but it took a number of the LEDs with it. They sent me a spanking new light the next day! Total down time was about 10 days and that's because I dicked around with it for 2 days and shipped regular post which added 4 days. Great customer support. Nice to have a company stand behind their product, eh?!

Hey Strai8, long time. I did try to find you first... but your email seems to be dead.
My second light went down as well. It's going back this week. Suggests significant issues of quality control. I've read about this elsewhere. But at least they are doing the right thing. It would have sucked to have some no name company giving me the run around...
