Well, because I am less than thrilled with most of the people I met while trying to decide if I should do this. I don't want to piss anyone else off.

I gave my number to someone who I felt was cool to talk to and get advise from the other night, but it turned out not to be that way at all.

So, as much as I do think MANY people need help, and get it through medical cannabis, there are some that still want to break laws and not follow correct guidelines.

I also wanted to know how much caregivers charge patients. I wanted to know this because I am unemployed and thought maybe this could be a way to make a little money to offset equipment costs, electricity, etc. I was not thinking I would make a ton of money, but some people mistook my intentions and thought I was a money grubbing rip-off artist.

Oh well. I am not giving up on the cause, just stepping back. If and when I step in it will be to truly help people, not get away with something. :thumbsup:

Some of the people that go to RIPAC are under the impression that a caregiver should donate their time and effort to produce nearly free medicine. While this would be a very kind thing for a caregiver to do, not everyone can afford to donate so much time.

I'm in a similar situation. I'm repaying student loans and have been unable to find better employment than the job I held throughout college. There's a bit of a recession around here...

Figure out how much time you spend in your garden. Figure to pay yourself a fair hourly wage. Discuss with your patients what a fair hourly wage would be, and what that would mean in terms of how much they pay. Figure out how much electricity and nutrients cost. Don't forget those little items that add up ( new humidity dome, organic fungicide, airstones )

I work hard in my garden and produce good amounts of the best medicine available. The method I use is quite labor intensive. My plants require several weeks of training and daily reservoir maintenance. Because my medicine is so good and I produce it so reliably, patients are eager to reimburse me for my costs, including the cost of labor.

Just because someone is a "patient" doesn't mean they won't try and take advantage of you. Deal with good people who respect how hard you will work for them. Be honest with them about how much your charging and how you determined your price. Let them know that they are not the only ones living on a budget.

There are a few people I've met that go to the RIPAC meetings that don't feel the way I do. They expect to have people they don't know work for free. Pfizer doesn't give medicine away for free, and they don't even deliver like I do.

On the other hand, if you think you are getting $20 a gram or even $300 an ounce your kidding yourself. Move to Cali or Colorado! Charge a realistic and fair price. There is nothing wrong with cheap, high-quality marijuana :hippy:
