Blue Rhino (Blueberry X White Rhino) Grow Log

Hey Guys
Basically i scored myself some Blue Rhino Clones so i decided to start another log in case anyone wants to watch but really more so i can get input if i do anything wrong and also props if i do anything right lol

Using a 600w HPS although right now it has a retro fit MH globe in it and growing in a 50/50 Perlite & Vermiculite mix using a wick system.

On the side you can see my Blueberry mother that ive brought into the room until i turn 12//12 although i dont think its worth keeping alive i might just turn it aswell as it seems to have a more sativa pheno and it actually has some strange growth.. but i did have to give it quite a hiding with perithium (spelt wrong i know lol) so i think that might have stunted it a bit.. Ohh and i gave it a chop yesterday aswell :)

Well any feedback or criticism is quite welcome as im quite new to this (only a few grows under my belt)

Using Canna's Classic Range at the higher rate at the moment putting a few drops of superthrive now and then :)
Got Canna's PK 13/14 to help fatten up the buds towards the end :thumbsup:
Doing a flush everynow and then to remove the built up salts..

I love canna because i never have to EVER change any PH levels because it does it all itself!

I've used a heap of different methods before but i think ill just top them once they get a bit bigger and see how they go..
Im going to let them get quite big before i turn them too :thumbsup:

Going to be big plants.. Last grow i had around double the plants using a SOG technique but this time its going to be half the plants twice the size

p.s the walls are getting mylar'd today and the floor too, got a 12" carbon filter, fan and silence getting installed today so that should help..
They are really small now but smell quite alot already! Got my hopes up!!

Hey mate,
Yeah just a mix of the perlite and vermiculite is all im using :)
I believe i started late january..

It makes things very easy due to the face that they don't actually store nutrients in the medium so when flushed properly it goes entirely back to neutral and is very similar to using a hydro setup because you have so much more control in what the plant actually takes in.

I generally water the plants when i notice that they are quite lighter its a great indicator of how much water (nutrients) is still being held.

I have a mate that waters them every day but i find that to be a bit over kill but he doesnt seem to have any large issues doing this due to the good aeration from the medium.
(I have told him of the risks of mold and behold some mold reared its head)
Some just can't be warned lol

Thanks guys for stopping by and i will be posting some more pics this arvo as i have installed a 12" Carbon filter, fan and silence ducting into the roof cavity and the walls and floors are now covered in mylar to help reflect some light to under the leaves and the sides :thumbsup:

Hey mate,
Just give it a little while and when your looking to transplant let it dry out and transfer like you would with soil :)

MAKE SURE when you pot it push the material down well (compress it) if not the medium will not be strong or stable enough to support a larger plant, i learnt the hard way last grow :(
Just not too hard or you will damage the roots :thumbsup:

Moving to Canna Flores today and Canna BOOST aswell @ Maximum Rates.
Haven't seen any signs of deficiencies or over fertilization so it must be a pretty hardy strain so ill push it as hard as i can safely.

Doing a clean in the room which is why there is a little mess on the floor ;)

Update.
Just changed over the HPS globes. Read around that using MH globes for the first week helps fight over stretching. Seems to be helping that's for sure :thumbsup:

Hey mate, thanks for the advice but im quite aware of the health issues from both perlite and vermiculite. Before the actual medium is used i rinse it twice to ensure all the small particles and dust is rinsed through :)
I actually wear those dust masks when mixing it all :thumbsup:

Update, moved a few of the front plants to the back and so on and so on lol

I think everyone expects that stretch in veg, but im thinking the strain and getting the right amount of light may be keeping them from that big stretch. They are very healthy, so i wouldn't worry about this crop, its well cared for:hippy: you can see that.

Update,
Noticing some minor nute burn so i have dropped the levels although i have been feeding some insane amounts.
They recommend some amount for Canna flores and they say PK 13-14 and boost all work together as additives although if i mix at their recommended levels i have a crazy EC of like 2 or 2.1 which i find to be extremely high..

They are all falling over from the weight of the buds so i have support poles inserted to hold them in place :thumbsup:

Very Very happy with the frostyness! Not seeing any blue though at this point..
Hopefully that will come on later during the finish.
I will be going all the way to 9 weeks if not 8 1/2. Want that crazy couch lock and extra crystals covering the budddssss!

They have taken really really well to topping, more than most strains i've ever had! They have been taking quite high amounts of nutes without a single sign of burn until now in flowering and only slight signs. All round a hearty healthy looking strain but it seems to be leaning more to the WR side in my case and no real blue showing on leaves or stems, or buds for that matter. grr :thumbsup:

hey man they are looking very very good wish i could come sample some when its done haha anyways i read somewhere on here that the blueberry cross seeds dont show tha blue they just have all the other traits from blueberry buds but the color now im not an expert or anything so i could be wrong

Yeah tristan your buds should puff up closer to the end of your grow. I hadn't checked my plants in a couple days last summer and went back to see one cola just about doubled in size. I couldn't believe it grew as fast as it did. I think some people miss that last burst because it looked good to harvest and i might have, but was told they would puff up and they sure did:hippy:. Its tempting to do, but waiting will get what you expect.

But every plant looks very healthy as from the beginning:hippy:so again im sayin cant wait to see them buds get giant:jointsmile:

Its been 7 Weeks 2 days since 12/12 and i think ill be going 9-10 weeks because the most i read tell me that the white rhino sides of things go insane in the 9-10th week. Lots and lots more trics :jointsmile:

I think it might have been due to a two water flush i gave it to try and fight the nute burn i gave the girls lol

To be truthful i have no idea how much it cost lol, i started with one 600w HPS lamp and ballast. One circulating fan and some pots and as i got futher along i used the money i would usually use for my own use to make my room better as i can.

Right now i Use
2 X HPS 600W Globes (For flowering)
2 X MH 600W Globes (For Veg)
The ballasts for the above lights.
2 X Reflectors
Inline fan for intake
Large Carbon filter & fan for exhaust.
Some grow yoyo's to make moving the lights up and down a breeze
Pots & Temperature and humidity meter

You could go one light or two or even higher wattage or lower.
The carbon filters can be easily mate by those creative enough

Much cheaper alternatives such as CFL's even.
Just find whats right for you and dont worry about throwing in too much money until you know how to grow and then learn to maximize your grow, in that order. as a wise man on these boards once said.

I got just under 31 ounces dried :)
Very very nice stuff, always much happier with my stuff rather than buying it they just dont take the proper care of the stuff!

Very very body smashed which almost puts me to sleep each time i smoke it which is funny cause there wasn't that much amber at all!
Helps heaps with my back so im not complaining at all :thumbsup:

Next grow is already going and its a mix of a few pure blueberries and a few pure white rhinos! Good Times!! :D

Definately bong style stuff a little harsh if smoked through a bong although i do pack rather large cones LOL, the smell after its burnt is amazingly strong!

I recommend moving straight to the Flores range and use boost asap. It really helped me but apparantly canna boost is only useful if everything else is sorted. Temperatures, air in and out. Etc

I usually intend to make hash but sadly i end up with bags of leaf with nothing to do with lol. Ill probably get some bubblebags shortly :)

Basically all i've grown is outdoors or in the perlite / vermiculite mix.
I can't really say ive done that many grows to compare the canna boost grow and the others but im really quite happy with the results so far :thumbsup:

Did you train yours at all? Training is a p.i.t.a sometimes.
