Hi all,

I've been an avid reader of these forums for a few years now, but this is my first time posting.

I've tried a few grows in the past, but although they've looked good through the growing stages, the bud turned out poor quality.

I'm starting another grow useing a 250w HPS cooltube, with organic soil, in an old wardrobe 500x600x1800mm. I'm going for 5 plants, but a quick grow.
I'm growing,
2 x Blue Cheese from Barney's farm
2 x Lemon Skunk from Greenhouse
1 x Orange Bud from Paradise Seeds

all feminised; )

I just have a couple of questions, if someone can give me some guidance i would much appreciate it. I'll also be tempted to do a grow log for your amusment.

1) I'm thinking of going 12/12 straight from seed. What are the implications of this?

2)I've got a 250w MH conversion lamp. (works with the HPS fitting) How do they compare with a true MH lamp?

Plants vary but most like to get to a minimum size to bud in any substantial way. If you go to 12 straight from seed you mayb have bud in 70 days but it might also be a single zip from 5 plants rather than the 5 or 6 you would have gotten with a meager 2-3 extra weeks to mature the plants a bit.
#2. I wouldn't worry about that too much. Just use the MH for vegging and switch to the HPS when you see flowers taking over.

Thanks for your reply.

I will take your advise on vegging. I specifically asked this question 'cos other forums have a few threads talking about 12/12 straight from seed, yet nobody here ever suggests it. Its good to have some sensible advice; )

As for the MH conversion lamp, i'm still a little undecided. I used it before and i had problems with stunted growth. I assumed it was a overheating problem, but now i think about it, it could be the lamp itself. Its a good quality lamp, GE I believe, but i can't find any definate info on its colour temp/Lumens etc. Being a conversion lamp it could be slightly different to a standard MH.

Anyway the little darlings are resting in some damp peat pellets, waiting to pop into life.
Cheers:thumbsup:
