View Full Version : root damage via air stones?
hey all just had a quick question, new to the dro game and was wondering that if i put an air stone in my bed section of my drip system if it has the potential to damage my roots by maybe causing to much turbulance in the water churning about? thanks in advance for the input.

Give it as much air as you can. No damage will occur. They will love you for it.
even if the roots are almost resting on the stone?

You can put the stone right in the mass of roots and no damage. Even if you grab some roots and wrap them around the air stone, No damage.
Bubbles will never damage your roots. No Worries.
thanks for the info LOC much appreciated
since we're on the topic of roots. any suggestions on preventable root rot treatments? i use a root enzyme, i believe it is called grozine? comes in a pill form and gets dosed once a week at 1 pill per 10 gallons. any other suggestions? i have had some problems in the past with water temp and would love to see those roots glowing white all the time. thanks again.

keep your reservoir temps from getting too warm, and aerate 24/7 ... occasionally, during reservoir changes, I'll dose plain water with some hydrogen peroxide (cup per gallon), and run the system for a couple hours, flush, and refill with my typical solution ... REMEMBER: the hydrogen peroxide will also kill off your beneficial bacteria, so, after flushing the peroxide out, you will want to replace those organisms ... I use Fox Farm 'Big Bloom', it's a worm-casting tea, etc., that will fix ya up
