Damn tropical whiteflys on my 2 month olds, I've done 2 Malathion douches in a week and they're back within 3 days.

What in the world can I do to get rid of these stubborn buggers? :rasta::smokin::pimp::hippy::rastasmoke:

Yeah! What's going on this year.
Didn't see whiteflies for 3 years, and now I have them indoors and out. In large clouds.

Pyrethrium/rotenone just gets them high.:stoned:
No pest strips have no effect.
Got the coco covered and have drenched the soil.
Every day there's a new cloud.

Gardening experts say leave them alone out doors and the natural predators will control them.

2 months, still waiting.
I fear the natural predators have succumbed.

I see that the bees have been decimated.
Mango trees have choke flowers, but are not setting fruit and I have not seen a single feral bee all day.
Could just be drought related and the bee mites are finishing them off, Ah dunno.
But.
This is not good.:(

Anyone have a sure fire cure for the whitefly?

Aloha,
Weezard

Not one response?:(
Could not wait on this one so, I asked an ol'fart.

Sticky traps!
I had forgotten 'bout dem.

Nothing kills whiteflies, so we trap 'em.

They home in on a certain shade of yellow.
Seabrightlabs makes yellow cards with stickum.
Catches the bastids before they breed.
They are dirt cheap too, so I ordered a whole case.

Hung a bunch outdoors and they worked a treat.
Indoors, not so much.
Seemed like there were random landings but no attraction.:wtf:

Aha! It's the leds lighting.
Got no yellow light so the cards look red orange.
Stuck a small cfl in the room just to bring up the yellow in the cards.
Yay! Problem solved.
Went from large clouds to occasionals.:rastasmoke:
Works for me.
Don't mind sharing,:hippy: but I will not be mugged by bugs.

Hope it's not too late for ya.

Aloha

PS Saw a couple bees today, were not screwed for fruit. yet!

Alo Ha
Aunty

Got herds of Mo'o.
That's why I hesitated to use the sticky traps.
My old "Mosquito deleto" trap, used to catch mo'o.
It was a net loss, bugwise.:(
So far, all I got on da sticky is bugs, and some of my hair.:)
It took the WF population down to a point where the Mo'o seem to be handling the rest.

I only use soap on plants I no smoke.
Same with neem oil.
I spray nothing on my flowers
I'm kind of a "county sewer" on taste.
A well cured bud's tastes are subtle and rewarding.
Even a hint of burnt soap gets right up my nose. Yuck!

Mahalo, aunty

House gecko me guesses? :upsidedow

House, and garden.

'cept while mos' geckos' are jus' lizards.
Some are Mo'o.
Not sure of the literal translation.
But I was told it means spirit.
Easy to tell the difference.
Talk to 'em.
Lizards jus' go on eatin flys.
Mo'os stop, cock their heads, and listen.
I no gotta make dis stuff up.
