hey all bread again,
I just planted all 6 seeds , the planting went smooth and easy in about two to three days hopefully we will have life. 95 percent were germinated before 48 hours which is always good :].
When i went in my closet i noticed it was a little dry in there is anyone aware of a cheap reliable way to keep moisture in there at a good range?

Yeah I was woundering the same thing. I was thinking about drilling some holes in the bottom of a water jug or something, Then running plastic tubing from the jug to the soil. Just an idea.
.bread-
02-02-2010, 01:18 AM
That will just make the soil wet , or damp you need to have the air itself moist n humid. i was thinking a very wet hot towel in the corner or a hot pot of water something along those lines.

I had one seed i planted that was over germinated by a day or two and i took shitty soil from outback n planted it in a tin , was broke n wanted to test setup room but it got way to cold in the room cuz the window wasnt properly insulated so i just cut the heat n lights off , last night i notice there was a sprout in there and the temp must have gotten to atleast 30-40dagress i set it up wit proper soil lights and warmth with the other plants and its looking 100% healthy

I heard Foxfarm nutes are good. I am going to be using Miracle-Grow Bloom booster.Miracle grow potting mix has nutes in it already so u shouldent have to mess with that for like a month or 2:thumbsup:

Heres a overall picture of the back end of the closet where the growing happens cellphone pic (will update with more), you can see i have a 8inch fan setup againts the wall on the ladder.
Theirs 4 cfl lights hanging from the topshelf , 6 cups with 5 fully germinated seeds planted yesterday and one cup with a 1 day old sprout.
I put that pot of hot water to steam up the room to get it moist in the room and also the towel hanging on the window which you cant rele see in the picture i wet it to get water into the air
I plan on putting two of those vanity light fixtures on the walls with a mechanize to change the height depending on the plant age.
I gotta take the picture of the top shelf for young veg/seedling stage.

The first picture is a 3 day seedling it sprouted the night before i planted the others 2 days ago. Looking healthy and trying to not stretch it.
Second picture is of another day old sprout , third is another picture of a diffrent seedling , fourth picture of the other seelding these were all planted on the same day. The other two haven't seem to come up yet hopefuly by the morning they will be there. The top of the closet that will be used for young veg growth. And then my cute Kitty Daisy.she kept running in the room so i took a picture of her.

Looks good so far
I don't know if it's just me, but that soil looks pretty chunky and in desperate need of some perlite or some medium to aerate it. I think for now, while still a seedling in a cup, it will be fine.
But I would recommend when transplanting to pick up some Miracle Grow Organic Soil, a bag of Perlite and if u want to a bag of spaghum moss (or maybe peat moss:stoned:), then mixing them all up real well in a big container and using that for your next medium. It will provide good nutrition, pH balance and drainage
Also, are you going to be sticking with CFLs through the whole grow?

Well theres perlite in that its not to thick either or chunky but it could be alittle compaird to some soil, Thats a great idea tho ive seen many people do it on here with good results and i plan useing CFL throughout the whole grow unless i can get a cheap hps or something.

Looks to be a fun grow, Bread!
I grew for three years with Miracle Grow and never had any trouble with it. For my come-back I've switched to fancy organic stuff and am suddenly finding that I need to be prepared to deal with fluctuating pH levels. Now I'm pining for the days when things were simple and easy. :D
Just watch out that Daisy doesn't take an exploratory bite or three out of an unsuspecting seedling when your back is turned, my room-mate's kittie Theodore has been caught trying to munch on unattended plants, and I've heard horror stories about loving cats destroying a whole grow room.
Keep up the good work!! :smokin:

whats up... doing well so far.
Ive grown in MG soil and also used MG grow and bloom nutes... They work but you will have better results by using something better. Ive gotten good results with MG potting mix and fox farms trio. Ive heard the MG organic soil is a bit too hot for young seedlings. MG also makes perlite with small amounts of nutes in it that works good. Also a couple tips... They look like they might be stretching a little. With CFLs they have to be withing 4-5" from the plants to be effective. So cooling is important so that you can drop the bulbs close. Also when you transplant you can bury the seedlings stem up to the growth to fix the stretch it has. Keep up the good work!
Goodluck!

thanks to both, of ya
@ wyldeganja30- yea , i still haven't gotten to the store yet , i will in the next couple days for the spray bottle , pots , more soil , perlite , ect
@ GetThisOrDie- ive tried fox farm also in my very very first grow it went well , as i mentioned to wylde i will be going to the store in the next couple days ill see what they have better then MG and ill get some perlite for a 50/50 mix.
Also i have the lights 2-3 1/2 inches above the plants i just moved them up to take the pictures so theres no bright light blinding the picture. but i also do plan on transplanting them alittle deeper as u mention.

Day (5 an 7) The first one is the two day older one looks great , im very happy its not stretching like the others are but i do have the lights about 3 inches away, only 4 though which i need to get more, the other ones are 5 days old , they are kinda stretching but im trying to stop that now as we speak other then that they look healthy , any idea on exactly when to transplant to bigger pots,
any input is welcome and thanked.

Alright im back , i guess... Due to the cats when i checked on the babies an seen what the cats had done i was in utter shock and checked the babies out they look so bad i turned off the lights cut the fan and slammed the door and told myself i gotta start completely over there to fckkked , A few days ago i went in there to look stuff over and i noticed that 3 of them were still alive and pumping with half of a leaf or two bit off 1 was tipped over on the cup, i fixed it up , turned the light back on a waterd them ... yesterday my friend brought over 3 germinated seeds n we planted then and then he also gave me 2 seedlings which i transplanted n added to the closet with the lights an waterd.
keep out on the look for pictures of the updated room ,,,
