My plants are 22 inches tall, and I have 48 inches of open space from the top of the plant to the bottom of the light. Should I start flowering now considering th space limitations I have? Strain is WW from Nirvana. Sure is looking awfully full in my 2 x 4 closet.

No time to lose. They will be all up in your light by finish time.
What size is your light ?
Only reason is the canopy. Next time you may want to start flowering about 12 to 16 inches. Your plants are looking very healthy and dense. The light can only penetrate the canopy so far.
However if you have to bend or tie them down to keep them out of the light you should be very pleased with your harvest as good as they look.

I am running a 400 w MH with 2 two bulb flouros as fill. I am going to flower under the MH since my ballast is a scavenged warehouse light, and is not switchable to HPS. I may add 2 more 4 ft flourescents for a better color spectrum.

If you can afford one, buy a HPS conversion bulb. They cost more then a regular one, but will do the same thing as a regular on your MH ballast.
Heres a link to one:

You'll get far more if you do this because the plant uses the red light to make flowers. The large amount of blue from the MH will work, but not as well as a red light would.

i'VE HEARD SOMEWHERE THAT THE PLANTS WILL GROW ANOTHER THIRD AS BIG AS IT IS NOW WHEN THEY GO INTO 12/12.

...AND start tying the longest branches back.
I hope you have good airflow.

I just took your advice and ordered a conversion bulb. I have had the plants in flower 2 1/2 weeks, and the buds are looking kind of small. But this is my first grow, so they could be normal. I will post a pic for your opinion as soon as I get a battery for my camera. Plants are looking strong, but they are monsters. 47 inches high, and my closet is FULL. I will damn sure flower when the plants are smaller next time. I have noticed some leaves falling off on the bottom, but tying the plants doesn't appear to be an option, since I am out of room. All in all, I am very pleased with how they turned out.

My plants are currently 60 inches tall with 20 inches of head room. In flower for 4 weeks. Looks like I am up against it as far as running out of room. Any suggestions? Are the buds the right size? Since this is my first grow, I have no way of knowing. I am running the nutes at 1100 PPM.

They look great! But a bit tight! :D
Not sure what to tell you on the height issue. Just keep hoping they don't keep getting taller?
The buds look great, All crystally. Yummm:stoned:
The plant will pack on bud weight soon, as in within the next month. Many strains don't get huge buds too. However your likely to get alot more weight in the coming month.

get some Bushmaster on your next grow...it helps control the stretch and also helps with yield:thumbsup:

Would it be OK to remove some of the larger fan leaves to allow more light to reach the lower parts of the plant? If so, about how many to remove? I am about 4 or 5 weeks in flower.

A few more pics, for your opinion on the fan leaves. Also, do you cut these off at the stalk, and do you treat the wound with anything? Thanks for all your all's help.

no no no...Fan Leaves are like muscles...Do not stress them at this point. That is something I usually do during veg when lolli-poping my girls.
Here is my advice...Harvest the tops first...Give it a couple more weeks...then harvest the bottoms (it gives them a chance to catch up in development).

FYI, I went into flower about Valentines day, so I have about a month to go. What I wanted to mention to anyone else growing WW is the funk. I have been venting this out the whirly birds in my attic until the last week, and my neighbor mentioned the fact that we had a skunk in the area.He was correct in the fact about the skunk. It was very noticible in front of my house. I had to put a filter on my exhaust just to keep the neighbors from becoming suspicious. I thought I could get away without a filter by venting this into the top of the attic. Wrong. So if you are planning a grow inside, also plan on the cost of a filter, I promise you that it is more than necessary. BTW, thank you again to all of the folks on the forum for helping me through my first grow.
