I need help figuring out why my plants are growing so deformed. I haven't been able to find any pictures on the net that are similar to mine. I've lurked around here long enough and now it's time to be part of the community. Please help me and I promise I'll help wherever I can. I've been growing for 3 years now and never seen this problem before.

This happened to my outdoor sativa last summer. I was gone for 4 weeks in the middle of the summer, came back and all my 6footers fan leaves were crinkled like that, but wernt dried out that would come from the lack of water.

so you're saying neglect is the problem? just picked up some dolomite because my run off was 5.8, watering with 7.0 and run off wouldn't change no matter how much flushing was done. Used 1 tbsp mixed into the top layer of the soil, watered with 7.0 and the runoff was 6.0 so I left it at that. Should I continue adding 1 tbsp of dolomite at each watering until my run off is around 6.5?

I'm thinking low ph caused these problems.

Hey try the trouble shooting form just to be sure. I think you may be right thinking the ph was it, but I wouldn't do anything too drastic to cause even more stress without all the usual culprits checked out. If your able to I would like to see the whole plant, and if you check out the stickies under growing basics there is a form that will give anyone looking the needed info on the different variables your working with.

I see the same in my indoor garden now and then, sometimes on the cuttings, sometimes on a seedling, occasionally on one in veg. I think....mind you think....as I do not know for sure, that it is an indication of a period of stress that the plant has recovered from. The balance of the grow seems to progress as normal

Is your soil pretty hot?

I used straight FFOF with a little perlite and that happen to multiple plants. They kept growing and as they got bigger they started to produce normal, healthy leaves.

I'll post up the trouble shooting form soon. The soil is pretty hot, haven't checked the temp but the air temp is now 87deg w/ac, was 89-91.5. I think a lot of it has to do with heat stress but now I'm really close to the 86 degree air temp recommended with co2 enrichment.

I meant "hot" as in "having a lot of nutrients"... my bad for not clarifying.

And I only saw this in young clones... after about 1-2 weeks, everything started to look normal again. I wasn't sure if it was pH or nute-burn... but I think it was nute-burn from the FFOF because the pH wasn't that high (7.2 - 7.4 in soil). But I've since gotten it down to right around 6.5 or so....

yeah the ppms were at 600 so they were not "hot". Now they are around a 1000 and the run off is around 6.1-.2(I added some nutes and more dolomite to raise ph) I have had recommendations on other boards to keep flushing until the run off ph goes to at least 6.5, I'm going to give it a shot the next time I water but previously I could never raise the ph by flushing with 6.8 ph'd ro/di, I'll just try giving them more water up to 3x their pot size. I have a couple smaller plants still in 3 gallon pots and after two doses of the dolomite their ph has went up to 6.5 from 6.2 and the other went from 6.0 to 6.3. I didn't notice a ph change with the first dose and I'm thinking the 5gal pots will go up slightly less since they were all given the same dose(I'll find out tomorrow if and how much they went up when I water them in the morning)

I'm sure you meant you're ph was too high if it was in the 7+ range, I'm using the same soil to bump them up from 3 gallons to 5 gallons and I had the exact opposite results, ph was/is too low, but the old soil was already very acidic thanks to the previous owner, haha, I'm trying to take a little bit better care of them than he did.

some plants grow with variegation depending on strain, fill out form.
