Okay, after a lot of reading I think Iâ??m ready to put a short growing plan together.

The strains I chose are Barneys Farm Crimea Blue and Nirvana Seeds Northern Lights, both feminized.

Soil will be a generic potting soil from walmart (that doesnâ??t have fertilizer added) along with about 30% perlite for extra drainage. I plan to start the seeds in 20 oz cups after germinating. When the time is right I will transplant to 1 gallon pots and finally 5 gallon pots.

Fertilizer will be Foxfarm Grow Big, Tiger Bloom, and Big Bloom given according to their schedule unless told otherwise (although I will start off with a lower dose to see how the plants react).

Topping will be done twice in the vegetative stage.

Thoughts?

The right time to transplant is when the plants get a little rootbound. You could even use some 3 gal containers between then 1 gal and 5 gals. Transplanting more times gives you a better root mass. Two ways to check if rootbound are if: roots are growing out of the bottom drainage holes OR by carefully sliding the root mass out of it's container (when almost dry/before watering). Everything else sounds pretty good to me. But, I'm not an outdoor grower

The only thing I would add is depending on the length of your growing season and veg times, 5 gals might not be large enough for an outdoor grow. Just something to look into.

Happy growing

I'll take your advice and finish in 7 gallon pots. I'll go from 1 to 3 to 5 to 7.
