I am very pleased to be a part of such a great place. High quality products, fair prices, extremely knowledgeable staff who are dedicated to helping you. I would like to welcome you all to come in a check out who and what we are. Mention this post and I will gladly hook you up with a half price gram. Eligible patients only. We are developing quite a nice assortment of edibles, and topicals. Our shop proudly supports local artists. We are located next to Best Buy, on 30th in Boulder. 1750 30th st. #14, 720-379-6046
Thanks!

I think people need to realize, with everything considered, including gas at almost $3 a gallon, that a half priced GRAM is NOT going to entice hardly anyone to come in. I say this as a possible customer, and don't mean to criticize anyone. But at this stage of the game, it's going to take a LOT to get people to come to your spot. A guy like me has a place/places where I KNOW that I am going to get GREAT stuff, so why would I try out a new place, with the time and money investment that goes with that? I get a free half gram or more when I go to the 2 places I frequent anyway, and I know others get the same kind of love. So where's the sizzle?
Just a thought.

I appreciate your feedback. In your opinion, what would be an enticing offer?

(I don't live in your area, so there's probably no offer that will get me in the door.)
What I'd really like to see in all these dispensary advertising threads is PICTURES of the medicine. I realize inventory and price changes fast, but this is one of those situations where a picture really IS worth 1000 words. Congratulations on your opening.

Yes, I too wish you all of the best.
An enticing offer? Hmmm....
I think the bottom line is that IF you have the goods, you KNOW you have the goods and service to get people back in if you can only get them there once, then what is reasonable when one considers how many hundreds of options that are out there? If you don't have the goods, unless you have a great location (think c3) then it's a severe uphill battle.
To get anyone from Denver to come is going to be tough. What is $7 in gas and 2 hours of my time worth to see if MAYBE your place is worth the trip?
Blessings.

Why would posting old pictures of pot be an enticement? That's eBay motors thinking. You suck customers in with 4 year old pictures. Inventory will always be inconsistent. You can grow the same seed strain from three different sellers and come out with completely different results.
You've got your work cut out for you. The hardest part of your biz will be in competition with other dispensaries. Maybe offer weekly specials perhaps sent out by email.
Location will be your biggest advantage. Most patients want convenience to their homes. Luckily, Boulder is a very walk/bicycle conscience town. I can simply ride my bike down the path to your store.
Boulder has some of the highest rated shops in the state. Perhaps take a look at their model and see what they're doing. The best way to go out of biz is to offer $25 grams and $60 eighths as some have before you, now gone.
Finish your website. Being incomplete really looks bad to new customers. Then sign up on weedmaps.com to let us get directions and rate your dispensary.
Right now, you have a med rec going for $75 w/ or $100 w/o giving them your caregiver rights. That's already a big plus in my book.
See you Saturday...:D

As a new dispensary, I have some steep competition in the area. The place next to me sells grams for $25+, I find that absolutley insane. I reject about 80% of the product that vendors have brought in to show me. Regretfully, I opened with 9 strains, but they are the finest I have seen in a long time. We have a nice mix of sativas, indicas, and some hybrids. I have some growers bringing me in a few new strains for the weekend, so we can up our choices. I truly want to run a class act operation, offering the best product as well as the services. Having a great staff who truly understand the needs of the patient makes it all the better.
Thanks for all the well wishes and suggestions.

I know some people will appreciate the fine quality of your goods, but I think there's nothing wrong with having bargain basement line of goods too. Just make it clear that that's what it is and price it as so. Where some places run into trouble is when they price mid-grade as top-shelf. Personally mid-grade should be priced $30-40, top-shelf $40-50 with the occasional long flowering sativa or pain-in-the-ass-to-grow strains priced $50-60 or maybe even slightly more. Now if you have all your strains tested, then maybe charge slightly more as you have the proof.
Personally I think too many places place priority on getting a high number of strains. I think that just confuses people. I think 9-12 is good, with those being a nice mix of indica, sativa, hybrid and also a price range mix too. At least bargain basement strain.
I think you have things right, but just add a bargain strain for those who can't afford more or for those like me who every time I visit a new place I feel obligated to purchase a little something even though I don't usually like even most places' mid-grade. I use the cheap stuff for my edibles.
Good Luck!

Give me 10 or 12 strains that I WILL want to smoke over 30 strains with half of them not worth my time. There are places I feel totally overwhelmed and if I know there are several people waiting to come into the dispensary I tend to feel rushed.
I am still looking for my "come to Jesus" strain. Since I am heading up to THC tomorrow I hope to come closer to my goal.

Yeah, let's hear about it. I was considering recommending them to a friend for only $100. Shit, even if it's $100 plus the $90 fee, that's about as good as I've seen it. Please post your experience.

That was not stunt. We had dr Camarata lined up to do evals for 27 patients. He canceled at the last minute. We scrambled to find another dr with one days notice. We found one, only to encounter more difficulties. We did get everyone evaluated who showed up, I even transported them myself to the dr. If it was a hassle, I sincerely apologized, and did everything in my power to accommodate. It was honestly a case of what can go wrong will go wrong. I took full responsibility for any mistakes whether or not I had control. We are now working with a different dr who had shown his reliability. I ended up paying half of everyones dr visit because I felt bad for the mishap. If there was anything else I could have done I would have. One thing you will learn about me, is I will always do what's right and fair, as well as bend over backwards to give someone a good experience.

Its a little alarming how easy it was with him. He just looked at my paperwork and didn't really say a thing to me. It was so awkward that I tried to start a conversation about my current treatments. He couldn't have cared less!

I'm giving Crossroads Wellness the benefit of the doubt because I wouldn't wish opening a new dispensary on my worst enemy. I may even stop by since they're open on Sundays...heh heh.
This whole system is going to hinge on legit medical records from reputable doctors. For those who used this doctor without any records, you're probably spinning your wheels and will have to get a legit rec all over again. I saw over 40 eighteen year olds at a free clinic in Broomfield last Saturday smoking lots of cigarettes and hanging around outside. I immediately left.
The doctor I'm using this Sunday is supposedly has the highest reputation in Boulder County. Believe me...I'll be asking him tons of questions and handing him my medical records which, I'm sure, will surprise him seeing as he doesn't require them. I already asked him if they do the caregiver/dispensary discount and he replied, "No...We don't play that game," so I can retain my caregiver rights without them expecting me to join their little club.

How much? Do you mind sharing? My GF still needs to get a rec and I'm guessing she should do it within the next month or so....

I went to get my mmj rec Saturday, I am a professional female that has never medicated. I have suffered from chronic pain for years and have used painkillers also for years.
I was treated with a smile when I arrived, I felt comfortable from the time I entered the office until I left. I must admit what made me smile was how uncomfortable the patients waiting seemed to be. A nervousness filled the room and I wondered why. I sooned realized that perhaps while many of the patients in the room medicted frequently they did not subscribe to the actual holistical qualities of mmj. The doctor spent more time with me than my HMO doctor, I don't think it is fair to assume they all are in it for the quick buck. If not for the few that are willing to make the rec, where woud that leave us as patients?
I went to Crossroads Wellness for my first lesson and was treated by a professional staff that made me feel comfortable. Maybe someone could explain to me why I should get, "free stuff" when I visit a dispensary. In all my years of filling my prescriptions I never got, "free stuff". Courious why we don't treat these business with a bit more respect. I am just happy to know that I have an alternative way to deal with my pain.
PS I live in Denver and work in Boulder, so I have the oputions of buying in both cities. For the record I would rather buy in boulder.

70corvette - Nice post. I'm considering getting a recommendation, and haven't smoked in the last 15-20 years. I've been put off by some of the stories of doctors who rubber stamp this stuff (not judging anyone who saw those doctors, esp. since it's clear some of them were also put off by that approach). Anyways, can I ask which Dr. you saw, or where you saw him or her? Thanks in advance.
Are you actually achieving pain relief? I'm attempting to deal with pain associated with cancer treatment.

The last two weekends went pretty well, so we will be doing it again this Saturday. $80 to get your card (with us as caregiver). All we ask is that you give us a chance. We have a few spots left. We can transport you if you want a ride from Boulder, otherwise you get reserve a spot and meet us at the Dr in Broomfield.
