Why do they send drug tests off?

IF I have a RDT,I will go to the local Hospital to have it but my question is do they still send it somewhere to be tested at the 50ng level and if so why dont they use the same dipsticks we use to test ourselves at home and save the money?

The site for sample collection and the site for analysis often occur at two seperate facilities. The collection site is probably not certified to conduct drug analysis and therefore have to send the samples to a facility thats so. No biggie.
