I have stopped smoking cigarettes and weed and stopped drinking alcohol on the weekends and also am on no medication for my bipolar/mania.Does anybody know the best way for me to deal with this.I cant sleep at night EVER without having a goodnight cone or 2.Last night was so bad for me it was terrible.Im out of options for myself. How can i go to sleep peacefully and get tired at night(not wide awake).I cannot meditate to help as my mind races with thoughts 1000 miles per hour.Any ideas or help would be great.

Im afraid I dont have any advice except go on a long walk to tire yourself totally.
I've tried doin that before, I lasted about 6 or 7 months, but I'm buildin up to do it again sometime soon, cigarettes at least anyway, they're the worst.
All I can say is hang in there and best of luck. Perhaps at the weekend reward yourself with a smoke of weed but with no tobacco.

Hi Jacquelyne..
The key is focus darling...
Find your breath, and focus on it... Start by tryng to watch five breaths without being distracted.. Breath without taking control of your breathing... count them.... once you can count 5 breaths without letting your mind wonder, move to 6 breaths...
Stretching is very nice too.. take a hot shower.. or go on a walk... get your muscles warm and stretch...
If you send me your address I will send you a couple cd's that should help you out...
good luck dear, you are on the right path.

try zoloft, that is what i take for the racing mind thing
it works really well for me and I don't do anything else very often.. it might not be a good idea to stop taking meds for bipolar, can mess you up pretty bad without meds sometimes
that is what they are there for, to help treat it. not make things worse

I have been on them before i was ever diagnosed with bipolar. My psyc called me today and will be prescribing me different medication.I am having a baby so it has to be classed a type 1 medication to be safe for the baby.He said i must not take anything until i see my doctor and get a referral to a neurologist to see that everything is ok with the baby as they are highly dangerous to a foetus in the first trimester of preg.I will try the advice i got from garden as it is unlikley i can be prescribed something to help my mania while i am pregnant as they usually all are anti-epileptic drugs so they affect the neural tube.

Hey jac! Im so sorry your not feeling well lately. Everything will be alright. Keep your chin up. Quiting smoking cigs is very hard indeed (I've failed 23 times and im only 16). Just relax, take in deep breaths, and keep pushing yourself to succes. Peace!

Thats exactly what i do. It helps clear the mind. Most of the time it works but there ae those times when your really mentally active and trying to get to sleep isnt easy. Eating also promotes tiredness, as your stomach expands (from eating) more blood is needed for the stomach bcos the surface area is expanding and thats less oxygen for the brain causing tiredness. Exhausting all your energy during the day is also good.
Best of luck jacquelinne
It's safe to take for any age and suitable for pregnant and nursing mothers.

My advice is this: Resist your female urge to NOT play video games, and go buy a massively multiplayer role playing game liek Everquest. This thing will absorb you and you will not even THINK about smoking. It will hurt to tear yourself away from that screen to pee or eat.

I am glad you quit smoking weed/cigs. You never know what that will do to the baby, and everyone knows that smoking effects the babies health. If I were you, I would also do a hard workout where it makes you tired out. Go for a strenuous run or lift weights. This always helps me fall asleep because you get so tired out from it. Hope you feel better!

zoloft is a terrible drug that makes people way more fucked up.i hope you never plan on quitting that drug because i did and it took about a year and a half for me to get back to normal.people dont need those type of drugs.they make you think you do.just sit back and relax, life is good!!

I am bipolar too, along w/ other things I feel where your at Jacquelyne, if you have some meds right now, go to your doctor and ask for some strong sleeping pills or get on different meds depakote can just straight out level you or it did for me.( I didn't like it to much cause it just stopped my thinking at first which I loved but then your so use to working that way that you hate it.) Thats all I can think of right now. Sorry . I feel so bad, you are just so depressed you wanna go to sleep. Then you have a manic high but inside your just sad overall.( or at least thats how I felt) I hope this helps. I'm always here to talk too. It's a personal hell and heaven to be bipolar.

I cannot take sleeping pills if im pregnant.Im trying to be so careful in the first 3 mths as i am already at a much higher risk than most to have a child with a birth defect.I really hope everything is ok with the baby.I am going a little hyperactive i took my son to the park yesterday with the dog and just ran the length of the park up and down and was hurdling the park benches until my son was ready to stop playing maybe 1 hour of full on running. It did not help me sleep any better last night. There was a lady there with 2 kids and she was just staring at me and she said "YOU VERY ACTIVE LADY" lol and i said yes just keep in fit lol.Well i didnt want to say i cant help it im just a maniac lol.
