Here it is..
my third lil grow..
this one is all clones..
First i have a clone of Big Mamma.. this will be all about her and her kids,
i also have a clone from every plant currently flowering.. on the off chance that i fond another nice clone stock mother..
in the coming weeks i will be making a veg/clone chamber.. approximately 2'x2'x2'.. this and an identical copy will be used to house the mothers and then the clones.. i plan to light each with a 300w equivalent cfl @ 6500k and a 70w MH just for kicks and penetration..
once the clones are rooted they will be planted into MG soil.. after an appropriate veg time they will be cloned and flowered.. all about the cloning..
this first round of clones will NOT use cloning agents.. and if it has greater than 75% success then i will never use cloning gel..
if a failure then i will reassess..
here are a couple pics.. this thread may remain kinda dead untill something starts to happen or a failure occurs..
pic 1 - 9 new clones
pic 2 - Big Mamma.. at 3 weeks

here are some pics of the 'Big Mamma' clone..
she is looking nice and perky.. but the fan leaves are stretching away from the main stem.. why is this? i have never had this happen..
the new batch of clones are looking nice.. kinda droopy but not much and after a couple days i feel that this is a good sign.. i spray em every few hours.. straight H20.. looking to get some leaf shine to hit em with next time.. and maybe even rooting hormones too.. :wtf: i want this to go FAST! oh well just gotta wait :(

She looks alright maybe she is getting a little to much Nitrogen and a little over watered. Just a guess though still lots to learn about deficiency's.

i have only given her a lil bit (1/8th mix) MG all purpose plant food.. so i dont think she is over nuted.. but maybe.. and i gave all of the seedlings and big mamma a half gallon of straight h20 bottom fed.. the water sat in the tray for ~ 48hrs..
so she was over watered but in a couple days you wouldnt even know it..

thanks for the help man..
and i have a ton of info on deficiencies.. almost too much info.. it is hard to sort out what my problem is from all of the other problems that i could be..
if you want info on deficiencies then look for my thread in plant problems.. i guess i plagiarized a book and posted it here :( oh well whats done is done right? lol

I think that it is also nearly rootbound but i am gonna give it some time in the cup to let her get right bound up.. she is gonna be a mother so i gotta keep her smallish, right?
hope to see you again Rubberbubbler..

Looking good, looks like you over watered it a bit but no biggy, like you said a few days will fix that. Just don't drown it :)

topped off 'big mamma'..
i figured that is she is to be a mom she would need many branches to give up right?
just some pics to show the growth..

You can top them or tuck a couple fan leaves . I do both ways they both work but tucking big leaves is less stress on the plant and they pop back up within a day allowing light to get to smaller growth for a bit.

I would LST your mother if I were you. Youll get branches that grow nice tight nodes being that its a horizontal lst grow and they will all sprout usable clones.

Just a thought. Ive taken about 23 clones from my mother. I had no more space so I couldnt take cuttings. Now shes so massive shes growing along the roof as shes too tall hahha.

well i am sorry i didnt mention BEFORE i went and cut the top off her :( this always seems to be happening.. next time someone sees me being stupid try to tell me before i do the stupid shit i am thinking about :detective1: if you can figure out how to see what i am doing.. oh well im gonna hurt my head like this! lol
thanks for the ideas peeps and i WILL be taking your advice.. when she has started to branch out anyway.. i will be lst'ing the top few branches to make a nice even cloning feild.. ha ha im giving myself the laughs.. time to medicate more
btw.. a stupid thought.. i am gonna be buying a 250w HPS bulb for the main grow area.. any thoughs on what would be the best temp? (ex. 2000k 2100k 2700k...) and brands? i am looking at the cheap-y model on 1000bulbs.. i like it.. only $8 + shipping.. is it too good to be true?
thanks for input.. and pics of the new/improved grow environment will be forthcoming..

haha its ok. Topping a plant isnt that bad. If you topped with 2 true nodes you will get 4 big ass branches. All you need to do is tie them down as well and they will eventually grow thier nodes out as well which you can take for clones. Not only do you stop the plant from growing any higher with the main stem but you also release the hormones that caused the plant to shoot up into those 4 branches, so growth willbe stimulated there and they will get very big. You can also try, which if you think about it it makes sence. Grow out those 4 arms to have say 7-10 nodes, then top that branch, same thing will happen all those nodes will spit out the cuttings and they will be strong. My 16 Clones are doing so nice with the top I just gave them. Nothing changed at all, still 24/7 light, no transplant or nothing. They are recovering very very nicely.

Generally tho you do want to let that tip grow and not top for a while to get a whole crap load more branches that can make branches. Making a mother was a bitch for me b.c I wanted some herbs now. I grow for personal use, I got back pain n shit lol. But it took about 2months before I could take cuttings. If you take cuttings too soon you will probably stress her out hardcore and you will not get as many cuts as you could have. Fun Fun

when you top (or LST for that matter) you are re-routing the growth hormone auxin from the apical meristem (the part that is responsible for depositing new cells before and behind it aka growth) to auxillary bud sites. this makes branches shoot from those sites. so when you top this MAKES the plant bush out.

As any zen bonsai master will tell you, pruning is an art. Luckily you're dealing with an aggressive and efficient plant here so I say don't be afraid to experiment and learn from your experimentation.

Looking hot, by the way. Can't wait to see it through.
