I have a 400 W HPS using soil, I have heard a lot of talk about T-12's and fluorescent's, but do not know much about them... I have used my 400 W HPS to do germ, veg, flower. any good or bad stories on the LED or fluorescents? should I get a t-12 and use it until I am ready to veg?

if you got the $$ buy a t-5 HO setup..
way better.. but i have a t-12 w/ 2x 40w 6500k bulbs..

Oh and t5 are really efficient source for vegging clones and seedlings for sure. If your about to go out and buy something look for T5HO that have four bulbs or more if your trying to buy one light only for a small number of clones/seedlings. In a pinch you can swing thru a big box store and buy a few cfl's that would an easy solution if your living in an area that doesn't sell T5HO. I use a 400w and am a dirt farmer as well, I would love to see some pics of the box or room if you have any.

here is a few from my last batch.... I think I am just going to use my 400 W HPS for my seedlings... you recommend that I move it close? or what is the height I should keep it above them?

just use the old 'back-of-the-hand' technique ... stick your hand between the lamp and plant canopy ... if your hand feels too warm, raise the lamp ... :smokin:

I am thinking about using the FoxFarm soil along with the Foxfarm tiger bloom, grow big, and big bloom. I was wondering if anyone had any comments about startign seeds in reg soil first then on the first transplant, put them in the foxfarm soil.... also... does anyone know the best or a good way to flush my plants and when to do it?? I have never used nutrients/fert before. Always just used reg stuff and had good turnout just not enough yield. Any info would be helpful and appreciated!

hey i would like to talk to you i read your thread and we seem to be doing the same thing almost... i am getting the foxfarm soil as well are you just using it? or are you adding anything, other than the foxfarm nutes, to it? When are you starting to use the nutes? after it sprouts and gets to 5 leaves?
