I just transplanted these and I have a little shock in the top right plant, probably temp related, too cool. I have to keep an eye on that this time of the year. Eventually I'll run a 400 Watt MH and that will keep it warmer during the 16 hr lights on and a little after. Otherwise a space heater is run during the off hours.
I haven't decided how I'm going to continue this grow in regards to veg time, taking clones and the like. Some ideas, I'll tweak along the way.

No feminized plants this grow. They are now three weeks old. The strains are as follows,
Neville's Haze from Mr. Nice Seeds (I had 8/8 males last attempt) :(
Bubblegum x Blueberry is from the Vermont BG strain crossed with Dutch Passion Blueberry
The Super Silver Haze x Blueberry are from a free-bee (F2?) SSH and Dutch Passion Blueberry.
The different pots? Those were the closest to me at the moment. :pimp:
I'm using a 6K 400 W MH lamp right now as it is pretty cool in the grow room. Lights on is 75-80º I really liked those 3 gallon bags. I have to pick up some more, I'd like to transplant after week four.
Using Fox Farm 3 part for most of the grow. Molasses with every other watering. Mycorrhiza added at transplanting (water in with Superthrive). And I do foliar feed with Big Bloom and a drop of dish soap every couple of days.
No pics. They are just wee seedlings yet. Last grow with the NH I did a lot of FIM early on. I don't know if it had anything to do with all males but I'm not going at it like that this time. I will probably let them all grow out and take the tops for clones later on, maybe FIM the secondary branches and trim off the bottom few leaves and branches, as usual.

Sorry, no pics. It's been crazy around here.
Anyway, the plants are all looking nice. I have trimmed the lowest branches and just now FIMed the five Neville's Haze. I watered in with nutes and foliar. The temps are perfect.

I made up a batch of soil and transplanted yesterday into 3 gallon bags.
Soil : 50% home soil mix, 25% larger perlite, 25% Light Warrior

Mid row l to right, BG x BB, BG x BB, SSH x BB NH
Backrow BG x BB
Sorry for the poor photo. I'd rather clean up the grow room than set up for a photo, at this point.

Enhanced, I do run a vertical fan. The winter temps are low so I run the fan on low and from quite a distance from the light to keep the canopy temp up there. If it gets cooler, especially after flipping to bloom cycle, I use an electric heater to maintain a healthy temperature.
Super Silver Haze is a very nice smoke. Most folks like the Blueberry better, but different. I hope the cross pollination with the Blueberry male works out ok.

ya it gets cold outside where I live as well. Its winter. The cubby has its right wall connected with the outside wall. If that makes sence. Drilla hole threw the right wall your outside lol. The nighttime temps would bring her down 60-65 so I got a small space heater. Used it in 15m intervals every 3-4 hours but that really didnt help. I was having a high humid prob as well so it would get cold and lik 90% humid with moisture on the walls. So I would let her run with the doors a bit more closed the last few hours to get her temps up to 83-85 and then close her up with a inch crack between the door and put this blanket over the doors cuz of light leaks now all is well. I even put a smaller towel folded up in there at the very top to help absorb moisture and have about 6 moisture traps lol. Morning comes im around no lower than 70 which is nice and humid is around 45-50. I run my fan threw the night do you turn your off?

Check out photo in the first post. I'm using the 4 lamp there, though you can't see much when it's on. It's 'off' in the last photo I posted though. ;)
The grow area is made up of bits and pieces of stuff. The base is a couple of 48'' x 18" sheets of plywood sitting on 5 gal pails. The pails will be replaced when the plants need more head room. A 2' x 4' 4 lamp T5HO fixture hangs against the back wall on chain and is adjustable. The 400 W HID is on chain, easily adjustible also. There are 4 sheets of cardboard with mylar which hang on wire hooks and are easily removed for me to work with the plants. This set up lets me have the wall reflectors movable to adjust for the number and size of the plants. A vertical fan is just outside the grow area, even with the HID lamp reflector.
What I like about this set up is that it can be taken down in seconds and doesn't look like a "grow-op". I will take a photo later to show these details.

square, round, I use them both, especially the smaller sizes. I think putting square pots edge to edge to conserve space wouldn't work for me as I like to turn the plants in relation to the lights quite often. Square pots wouldn't make this too easy. I've used the 3 gallon bags for two grows now and I like them. I don't think I'd go any bigger. I transplant into 5 gallon pails if I need to.
Thank you for the kind words too. Good luck with your grow.

The plants are into their eighth week of veg and are mature (alternate nodes) but none have shown sex, as of yet. They have stretched as much as I can deal with so I've started LST on the taller ones.
Yesterday I watered and fed them. Today I changed the lamps to HPS and warm white T-5 HO and set the timer for 11 hours of light and 13 hours of dark. If no sex in another week or so I'll go to 9 hours of light.
I'll wait to transplant. If I'm lucky enough to have all or mostly females ethen I might just finish them all in the 3 gallon pots. If I have some males then I will have room to go into 5 gallon pails.
I've been too much busy to photo or do much of anything but I will get a photo update sometime this week.

Switched to a new HPS lamp and WW T5s. Lights on 11, off 13 for now. If the haze do not show sex in a week I'll go to 9/15 until they do and then gradually go back to 12/12.
Here's photos of the five NH and six SSH x BB. The NH have been topped and LSTed, the SSH x BB not topped, just LSTed. One detailed photo of the method I use to LST, pieces of wire. The final photo is the Bubblegum x Blueberry. This plant has not been topped nor LSTed.

My goal is to learn how to grow tastey, potent herbs of many varieties. I'm doing pretty well at learning to pop some seeds, take cuttings, sometimes. When time dictates I will cross pollinate and create seeds and hope that at least a couple of plants come out nice. Also, my feeding seems to really help the plant develope mild smoke and nice flavors and smells, according to most testers.
Really it seems that I just started, there's so much that can be done.

I changed the (4) T-5HOs from yellow to blue (grow lamps). Still have the 400W HPS but the blue is supposed to help with some trichome production.
The grow area is pretty tight with lots of time yet til done. Only one BG x BB will finish early. Then the (5) SSH x BB. These are all in 3 gallon bags. The remaining NH are 3 gallon on top of 5 gallon pails and will take the longest to finish. I think this should work out rather fine. What do you think, folks?

How do you arrange them around the lamp? Stadium style, or do you prop up some of the lower ones, to even 'em out? I've got plants at 3 different profiles, from 4" seedlings to 20" clones... and it's a PITA. :D
Really lookin' forward to seeing those NH ripen-up, I reckon they will love all that root space. Lookin' great!

Well, The 2' x 4' (4) lamp T-5HO (total of 216 watts) is hung on a side wall and is height adjustable with jack chain. The 400 W HPS is hung in the center and is hwight adjustable with jack chain as well. I like everything off the ground a bit so the 3 gallon bags are on a 18" x 48" sheet of plywood over a few 5 gallon pails. The four haze are in bags and buckets and the canopy is even using another 18" x 48" sheet of plywood on 8" x 8" x 40" wooden boxes. I move the plants around a lot and foliar feed/water just as often. They seem bright and happy.
The NH will be still 'evening out' as all the others are likely to be flowering and ripening.
Thank you.

The first word in this song is discorporate.
It means: to leave your body
Discorporate & come with me
Shifting; drifting
Cloudless; starless
Velvet valleys & a sapphire
Sea: wah wah
Unbind your mind
There is no time
To lick your stamps
And paste them in
Discorporate
And we will begin...wah wah!
Flower power sucks!
Diamonds on velvets on goldens on vixen
On comet on cupid on donner & blitzen
On up & away & afar & a go-go
Escape from the weight of your corporate logo!
Unbind your mind
There is no time
Boin-n-n-n-n-n-g
To lick your stamps
And paste them in
Discorporate
And weâ??ll begin
Freedom! freedom!
Kindly loving!
Youâ??ll be absolutely free
Only if you want to be
Dreaming on cushions of velvet & satin
To music by magic by people that happen
To enter the world of a strange purple
Jello
The dreams as they live them are all
Mellow yellow
Unbind your mind
There is no time
Boin-n-n-n-n-n-g
To lick your stamps
And paste them in
Discorporate
And weâ??ll begin
Freedom! freedom!
Kindly loving!

Inspite of all the foliage there is quite a lot of bud mass underneath. The foliage has stopped 'drinking' as I haven't watered for a while and it's still heavy. So, it's just about done. Two - three days in a warm dark space and I'll chop, trim the fans and hang.
The other strains are looking great, lots of trics, still putting out new pisils. They have a ways to go. We are in week nine and I figure the SSH x BB to go around 12 weeks and NH to go 14 or more.

After two days in the darkness I cut this plant and hung it in a dark, 70ºF location with an exhaust fan over it. In a couple/few days I'll trim the fan leaves and post photos through the drying, trimming and curing process.
It also seems that the (5) SSH x BB may ripen earlier than the SSH mother did. I'll take a look at the trics later this week and plan the flush and drying schedule from there.
The Neville's Haze (from Mr Nice) look 'Nice' and are still pushing out fresh pistils. So we have many weeks to go there.
Thanks for the props, men.

Hey Shove, everything is looking great! :stoned: I wish you would get a better camera though, would do justice to those beautiful ladies! :) I know you've used molasses for along time and I was curious if you thought using molasses would change your buds smell and/or taste? My curiousity comes from my last grow where I used molasses and most of my stuff (different strains) came out mainly lemony smelling. I'd appreciate your thoughts on the subject. I know molasses is a good way to increase weight during that final flush phase, just curious about the question above.
Hopefully you didn't get as many nanners this run, like the last. Good looking smoke you have!:rastasmoke:

Hi Balkey
All them nanners didn't effect taste or potency a bit after all. They didn't produce seed either as they were sterile.
Molasses is to condition the soil, mostly. I don't think it adds flavor. As an experiment I added a full 4 0z bottle of blueberry concentrate to a flowering BB plant and added none to other BB plants. None of them tasted at all like blueberry, though they all were equally flavorful, tastey. No smell differences either with molasses or the blueberry concentrate. And nothing I've grown lately has been lemon/citrus flavored.
And thanks a lot, ForgetClassC :stoned:
Balkey

Glad those nanners didn't affect your taste or high any! I had a hard time medicating with my nanner filled buds over my other buds without nanners. Probably just in my head but I thought the nanners made it a bit harsher for me (probably in my head though haha). I actually have thought about adding concentrate or extract to my water a few hours before harvest because I've heard about it changing the smell/taste. I would have been curious if you added Strawberry (or another choice) concentrate to the BB if it would make a difference.
Are you using Blackstrap or another brand of molasses (I think you've mentioned this before but I could be wrong)? I have a beautiful Strawberry Cough plant 6 weeks in and I want to keep the smell it's emitting intact through my flushes/molasses. Could have just been a coincidence but it seemed the molasses really added to the weight of the flowers while growing, so much so a few flowers fell over. Could be possible something I was doing weakened the stems though. haha All right, I'm rambling. Good day sir!:rastasmoke:

04-15-2010, 11:42 PM
yeh, that could be true. I usually use a little molasses in the middle of flushing and finish with plain water. I have heavy buds that bust over too. Thanks for your comments. This has been a long log with the eight weeks of veg and now into week ten bloom cycle with months yet before they are all dried and cured, ready to smoke. Oh ya, blackstrap.
Oh ya, the nanners can be harsher than the gland coated calyxes and leavelets. Some buds had no nanners and the others where in groups and I could "dust them off"

I think it's a sign of overwatering at this point. Stuff just doesn't drink it up like it used to. The ssh was just flushed, so that's that. It will need no more water, I'm pretty sure. The NH has quite a bucket of soil and few leaves left and the buckets are heavy, so they're not perfect but I'll keep an eye on them and make sure all of them get to full maturity before harvest. They are still putting out flowers and plenty of tric growth.
Thanks raizla

Bloody brilliant! ATM, it couldn't get better. Cupboard full of cured ganja (skunk#1, PPP and a bush sativa) to keep me smiling through the winter and we have had enough rain to finally break 10 years of drought.
Thought I'd better do a little early winter SOG to celebrate... especially considering the 3 month outlook is for high median temperatures and lots of sunshine. That means a good chance that temps don't drop below 40F over night and will get to above 65F during the day. Temps even my joints can live with over winter.
I found a patch of mj from a plant I forgot about last season. It wasn't taken by the theives so I hope I can harvest something there this fall.

Hi Folks.
SSH x BG is very sweet/tastey and kicks hard and is good for relaxing. It can put me out if I smoke a joint myself.
Neville's Haze smokes smooth and smells like church incense, very exotic like nothing else I've had in quite a while. Wicked buzz right off the bat, after a half hour or so I'm up on my feet again with a happy face and a clear sativa high. Like the SSH x BG, I have to take a few hits and quit, not because it will put me to sleep but it can give me a white-out on the spot.
Both kinds were grown and cured well and are smooth, easy on the lungs and throat.
I'm hoping that some of my NH hybrids will produce decent phenos. Otherwise, I'll likely buy some Mr Nice Seeds again. I have a couple of my Z11 (Afghani) x NH seedlings trying to get started. It's been a little too warm in the grow room so we'll see what happens.
Thank you all for the kindness shown here in the grow thread. Your karma is in these jars, for sure. :hippy:
