I have decided as my new years resolution that I am going to grow my own herb rather than fork out my hard earned cash for shit weed!

I'm not getting into how bad the weed is in Ireland at the mo as it depresses me. I have been inspired by my fellow pot heads on this forum & decided that enough is enough. It's time to get growing!

Ok, here is what I have to work with, the only logical area that I can use to grow is my attic. Space is limited in the house and neighbours getting wind of my supply would be a major concern.
I should mention that the attic has never been used so I am going to have to clean it out and run an extension cord through the ceiling from the bedroom to supply power etc...

There is plenty of space in the attic for a grow room & I'm thinking of buying one of those homebox grow tents to start with.
I have been looking around online and need some advise as to would this be any use in my pursuit of sweet sticky buds: eBay.ie: HYDROPONICS COMPLETE KIT GROW LAMP GROW TENT + GROW KIT (item 250556121465 end time 02-Jan-10 22:51:23 GMT)

I'm looking to grow 4-8 plants in this grow tent with a 400watt hps light.
I am hoping to get this set up within the next few weeks as we are going to holland for the weekend so I'm gonna grab some good feminised white widow seeds while i'm there. Would the tempreture in the attic affect the veg/flowering stage as it would be cold in the attic & how bad would the smell be even with the help of the carbon filter?
Could any experienced growers check out the link above and let me know if this kit has eveything I will need to get growing.
I have no experience growing any plants so any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Well for a plug and play system it seems all you need are beans. The system looks very good and a good price too. I could make some things it has but for ready to go you can't beat it. Very nice setup

As for the cold you will need a good fish tank heater to keep the res to 68 degrees. Other than that the cold should not bother that tent.

If you get it just throw some widow beans in it and let us know how it's going. I don't think you will be dissapointed.

You might be surprized when yours is better than Hollands. LOL

Number one rule is Don't tell anyone. You 'll be surprised how many friends you really have.

Thanks for the advise, I've been up the attic today taking all the measurements. Growing weed is all I can seem to think of lately

The space is quite tight for the grow room but I think I will just about get it in comfortably. I would love to hear from any guys who have successfully grown in their attics & any unforseen issues that they encountered.

I'll keep ya'l posted on my progress but I imagine I wil get started by the end of the month. Gotta go seed shopping in Holland first!

Peace :rastasmoke:

Insulation should be your #1 priority when using the attic. Temps can skyrocket during the day & then plummit at night, & that grow tent isn't insulated at all so you might need to build a little insulated room up there to combat these temp fluctuations.

Whats up guys...

Hey I looked at the auction and it doesnt say that the tent is 100% non pvc. When tents are made with PVC material they can "outgas" when the material heats up. This gas is very toxic to your plants and to you. Ive seen tons of horror stories of dead plants in pvc tents. Maybe I missed it on the auction... When I buy tents, my number one priority is finding a maker that makes it very clear that its pvc free. THEN I look for the tent that will work for me from that maker. I use Homebox and a brand made by Homebox called Growlab.

I would make sure your attic is pest free as well. The heat/smell will attract unwanted visitors and attics are usually not as secure when it comes to pest lockout.

Dont forget a PH pen, PPM meter, and PH up/down!

Goodluck and enjoy growing this great herb!
