I would love to have some recommendations for strains that would be helpful with the following;

1. Chronic back pain from degenerative arthritis, easily inflamed.
2. Depression and anxiety
3. Insomnia
4. A damn good high that is euphoric but active (I love to smoke out and then hike through a state or national park etc...

Would love some feedback from everyone with any suggestions.

Hi Red,

Hope all is well with you and yours.... These were not listed in any order at all. I enjoy smoking and just getting really high of course, however I have a tremendous amount of back pain from a car accident in 97. I was run over while walking across a street in Milwaukee, and over the past few years I also developed a depression issue. The docs want to load me up on pills, but I'm not crazy about pills because of the high addiction possiblities of some of the meds they want to prescribe for the pain issues.

I'm seeking strains that alleviate the chronic pain, help with the depression, but also are social, euphoric, trippy, and are more active if you will. I spend alot of time researching these days (I'm writing a university level textbook for entry level economics) and no matter what I've tried, long hours in the chair can become pretty painful. I love to hike state and national parks, hit museums and historical areas, etc... and I've always enjoyed smoking a fat bowl or doob before hand or during.

I've been seeing alot about Strawberry Cough and Blueberry, as well as Lemon Haze, and lots of purples.... I use a bong most of the time, every once in a while I'll roll a joint. Thinking about acquiring a vaporizer....

This past summer we spent an evening at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon watching lighting from a summer thunderstorm on the other side and smoking a wicked strong strain but I have no idea what kind it was. Worked great on the back and the mind, very expansive smoke, long since I had had the giggles from just smoking out...

Happy New Year and thanks for chiming in with the input everyone... I'll use the info!!!

I think the strains you mentioned would be good, trying to get a more even cross of indy-sativa for all around pleasure :) I'm attempting the kushberry(blueberry x OG kush) x skunk right now, I'm hoping that'll be the ticket for flavor & effect. Strawberry Cough is on my short list of future strains, as are LSD from Barney's Farm, Papaya, & Agent Orange(TGA Subcool Seeds). And yeah we've got killer bronchitis passing around my area so can't really smoke with this horrible sore throat right now. Hope things are better with you.

High Redtails,

Sorry to hear the bronch is galloping through the area. My back is just killing me today, hurts to just sit or even lay down. I'm going to break down and eat some pain meds even though I hate pills.

The Kushberry should be a wonderful smoke from everything I'm reading and learning about. Please share what you think about it, ease of grow, etc... My White Widow and LA Lady seeds should be arriving any day now. My short list is def going to include the strawberry cough and a blueberry.

I'm taking your advice and making my new grow cab into two compartments for flowering and vegging. even though I'll only be able to put four plants into each one. The idea of a perpetual grow makes a little more sense.

I hope you feel better and get past the bronchitis. Best wishes to you and yours.

Stick with a heavy Sativa strain. My suggestions are Bubble Gum, Big Buddah Cheez, Sweet Island Skunk, etc... Just make sure it is a heavy sativa. Studies I have read on Sativa verses indica say that neuro/synaptic pain can be treated by Sativa strains. On a personal note I have sumilar issues as yours and heavy sativas are best for treating my ailments.

If you are having trouble sleeping try eating a high quality baked good 45 minutes before bed. When I say high quality I mean some baked goods that are made from keef and bud not leaves and trash weed! Only high quality grade A (Indica for relaxation) bud and keef baked goods. Guaranteed to knock you out for at least 6-8 hours!

Hey PM, just a thought have you tried an Inversion Table? I know you mentioned an accident so many your not able to use something like that but I love em so thought I would mention them. Takes some pressure off my vertebrae and is comfy to me and helps. I don't have serious pain so it might not help just a thought. I hope you find a balance between pain meds and green ones, it sucks being in pain and planing your day around pain, I can only imagine that. Good luck to you in 2010!

Hey folks,

Thanks for the recommendations. I haven't tried an inversion table yet. I found oout today the doc's want to do an mri on my back and see what else could possibly be going on. I hate taking pills and had to eat like 6 #10 hydrocodones today....and I'm out of smoke in a state that has yet to understand the benefits of the plant God put on this earth for us to enjoy and use.

I appreciate all of your suggestions!!!

^That sucks bro. Be careful with hydros as I'm sure you know. They're hell to quit!!

Check out SAGE (Sative Afghani Genetic Equilibrium). I'm pretty sure it's a high-THC strain and it's also got a nice combination of sativa/indica effects. I've had some that was VERY well grown and it was incredible smoke. Very Funky, pungent, almost foul taste and it was one of the strongest I've had...

I'm not sure where the genetics come from, but there's info out there for sure on this strain...
