can you use a 250 watt red light to grow?????

im growin sour apple kush an ive been using this 250 watt red light an african violet miracle grow an it popped out of the dirt yesterday an it seems to be growing good. has anyone ever tried this or heard of it ???

Never seen it, had a friend try to grow under a blacklight though lol
