What's up fellow tokers, Just figured I would start my first grow log.
All 15 of the freebies sprouted nice and fast they are 10 days old now just transplanted them to the ebb & flow system using cal-mag plus,fox-farm nuts quarter strength. I am using a grow lab 120. I have 2 600 watt air cooled hoods. Also using a 4x12 inch phresh air carbon filter but I am going to pick up a 6x24 inch filter . I was a little busy over the Holiday as most were. so I procrastinated transplanting. They look a little water logged but should be OK.I have all 15 in the tray just going to weed through and find the males and save any females I can get. I have 15 more seeds on stand by so I hope eventually I get to try all 5. I am also going to collect pollen just in case I want to play mad scientist:weedpoke:.I will be updating often. Thanks for reading comments and suggestions are welcomed.

Oh, & is that 10 days growth on the last pics? Mine is same age (germ'd 12/17) but on it's fourth set of leaves...

Whats up everybody, I hope everyone is having a good start in the new year.
I have changed the the nuts to half strength and they are starting to finally grow a little. Its been about 70 F A little on the cold side. I usually use cfls to veg but decided to use one 600 watt with a Eye Hortilux its supposed to have 17% more blue spectrum than a standard hps bulb. Its been a long while sense I started from seed. I usually just work with clones. So If anyone has any suggestions I am open to them.

Not bad, I like how they're all looking pretty indica-dom. Makes me happy, I don't have too much vertical room. How big are you planning on growing them before you flower? And are you going to take any clones or seed anything since they're a limited edition? I topped my kushberry yesterday and am rooting that as a clone, hopefully it's a female but even if not I think I'll save some pollen.
Rubberbubbler
01-04-2010, 05:02 PM
I usually don't flower or take any clones until they are 2 months old. I will be saving pollen from what I can. I cant wait to see what comes out of all these strains. I am used to smoking unknown bag seed strains nothing to get excited over but not garbage.

Bagseed is what I got and i'm very impressed! Very tough strain, easy to grow, good high but not too "i'm so stone i can't even touch my head with my chin, oh, wait, got to remove that hockey mask first" kinda high. Great pine taste.
Do you have any idea how I can make my plant to taste like chocolate? Just a little hin of chocolate would be very nice!
You got all your gear going great! Can't wait to see them flowerin'!

You can make the plant taste like things by adding a little extract to some water and watering the plant about half an hour to an hour before you harvest. Don't know if there's a chocolate extract but I've tried it successfully with lemon and orange...

Don't know if there's a chocolate extract but I've tried it successfully with lemon and orange...I know this is getting off topic, great grow log by the way...;) but I always thought a coffee flavored MJ would be great. I wonder if you could just pour your morning pot leftovers in her pot the day of harvest? Would an extract work better? This is dumb, I am not going to actually do this...just curious.
...anyway, back to the grow.

Hey, nice growth so far. As far as what is wrong with the La Con it could just not like what your using. They probably need different things then each other would be my first guess. What color are the roots on that La C?
Rubberbubbler
01-10-2010, 07:38 PM
The roots are very healthy bright White. 2 of the 3 look like that and the 3 looks fine. I was up all night the other night and discovered my timer for my blower was not shutting off it got down to 50 degrees for one night. I was moving some gear around and had to unplug the timer apparently l need to replace the backup battery. I am hoping that it just got to cold. I vent my lights using cold air from outside I put a hole in the ducting to help regulate the temp I do not push air out only in. This keeps my room 72 degrees during the day and it only gets down to 65 when the lights are out.
frostedwonder
01-10-2010, 08:10 PM
What do you use for odor control or is that setup just for seedling-veg? I put my fan that is pushing air out of my cab on my light cycle to save on electricity but I forgot about back pressure and dampers so the smell kinda escapes my box. I am using a cold place so I had to play around with cycles and fans just to keep things warm without too much spike during a grow. I am sure I have slowed and shocked mine but at the price of learning yeah great.
Rubberbubbler
01-10-2010, 08:36 PM
I use a phresh filter they are good for 2 years. No smell problems or negative presser in the room. I use a 6 to 4 inch reducer for the incoming air. I use 2 600 watters so buy the time the air exits the blower its about 68-70 degrees.
I can close the tent up and have no air pulled through at all and it will not go over 75. I want to try a little home made co2 contraption when I start flowering so this will be good that I can zip the tent up without heat build up.
I am saving up for the Hydro innovations ice box complete setup I should have it bye July. Heirs a pic of my home made blower it has 4 different speeds.

Whats up everyone, Welcome to the 3x3 jungle lol. They are starting to let me bend them a little so I started with a few on the sides to get more light in the middle. The kushberry and sleestack cuttings have rooted still waiting on the rest to take root. The nuts drooped 150 ppm sense I changed the res 3 days ago. I goofed up on how much I raised the nuts Instead of going 200 ppm higher I went 400 ppm than last time. They seem to be taking well to the upped nuts Though. I am going to flip the switch Just worried about the clones not rooting its would be my luck I could always re-veg or try and take a few more clones of the ones that have not rooted as the branches are alot bigger than when I took the first cuttings.

when your plants get too tight and not enough air can circulate through them...but they are looking really nice....in the first week of bloom i use bushmaster to control the "stretch"...also increases yield....one application is all it takes:jointsmile:
i hate when mine gets too tight because then the lower buds don't get that big and they pull energy from the plant keeping your tops from really swelling up....and in harvest it is a pain trimming the little tiny stuff....keep it up though you'll find the formula that works for you:thumbsup:

there is something on the label about using it in hydrponic application that isn't good....gravity is one of those products with mixed reviews..some luv it and i have heard of it messing crops up...read the directions on the Bushmaster....it says more is not better....i would start with about 2ml/gal and see how it does if they are continuing to stretch more than you like you can do a 2nd app within the first 2 weeks but once you find dosage that you like it only takes 1 application applyed within the first 2 weeks of flower...i like my plants vegged to size i like and i hit them with it on day 1

Damn that's a nice thick stalk! Glad you caught it early enough, that would suck to go in there only to find the nutrient flow's been cut off because the stalk grew too thick for the lid. I'm really liking how the kushberry I have is doing, very tolerant of little stresses and the perfect hybrid for a christmas tree shape.
As for the trimming, I like to remove the bottom set or two of branches and a few other runty offshoots and have noticed that it doesn't really affect yield positively or negatively, like str8 said you will come upon your own style with a little experimentation.
How long are you going to veg the clones or are you turning them into mothers? I vegged mine for maybe 5 days after roots formed and she's about 20" tall right now with 10 nodes and her stretch is done. I think it would make a great SOG with some of that bushmaster...

Thanks. I am keeping the clones for mother plants. I usually take clones right before I start to flower and then make the new cuts into vegged plants for the next run so I usually do not have a mother plant but I think it would be a good idea to keep the clones I have as mother plants. I think I read some were that if you clone the clone that you cloned it will start to diminish the quality. I have no Idea if this is accurate but I do not want to chance it.
I am a little worried that if in the next run when I hit them with the bush masters it will effect the sleestack and the kushberry they both stretched the same and only half as much as the Kandy and og. I might just run the Kandy kush and og in one tent and sleestack and kushberry in the other. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

If you have the spare room that sounds like a worthy shot, or one idea I just had would be to plant them in a stadium i.e. Kandy & og around the outside with the shorter sleestack & kb in the center?

Thanks. That could work out good it would be worth a try. The Kandy and og stretched about a foot and a half taller than the other to.

If things get to out of control I can always take them out of the tent and hang the lights from the ceiling. Then I will be able to turn the table but I would rather try and keep them in the tent. I will see what happens then do whatever it takes to keep them going.

They smell so good especially the og and the Kandy. I wish I would have got a female of the la conf but I have 3 More seeds so I will give it another shot. As for being legit I would guess so. Not sure never smoked any of the the strains they are crossed with. I never smelled anything like them. so I have high hopes. Thanks for stooping bye.

They only smell like a skunk outside of the room but when you put your nose to the bud they are very sweet smelling. I figure I should be able to harvest between the 26th of march and the 8th of April.

Hey rubberbubbler
Wow awesome buds, I just saw your reply and haven't dropped by your log in a long time I never had the chance to reply back.
So to answer your question I haven't made a log yet but I have germinated all the seeds and will let you know when I get the chance to log it.
I do have a question for you, how much did the sleestack x skunk stretch during flowering?
I have one that is going through preflowering and it's a foot and a half.
Also how did it react to nutes compared to your other strains?
I had a bagseed and a sleestack growing next to eachother and the sleestack x skunk was eating up the nutes and seemed to want more.
Thanks

The sleestack only got about 2 feet not much stretch at all for me. I only got one female of her though so you could end up with a different feno. As for nut uptake she is a heavy feeder I am currently using full strength fox farm nuts with the solubles. ppm is about 1400 and she showed no sings of nut burn.

I went to go snap a few pics before the lights came on and usually the light comes on right as I'm done flashing a few pics but I realized that it was a hour early because of daylight savings. Do you guys think I stressed them by flashing the camera about six times. I was only in the room for about 3 minutes. I am worried that they will stress on me and go hermi.

I don't think you'll have a problem if it was pretty close to lights on, but yes the flash does screw with the photoperiod.

Thanks I guess worse case I will have the mystery skunk train fem seeds:jointsmile: I was looking over the plants and noticed that the mutant kushberry started to through out nannies as well as my only sleestack plant.
The two plants were side by side and they were the smallest at about 2 feet so I think they were a little stressed from lack of light and to much N possibly. After the fox farm schedule changed to using tiger bloom in the mix It brought me up to 1400 ppm Im noticing a little nut burn so I am going to start cutting back on the nuts maybe to half strength. My plants drink 2 gallons of water a day and I only run a 20 gallon res so I have been changing the res about every 6th day. This is wear my plants usually start to look like shit. So I am trying not to screw this up This is my third run with the ebb and flow so I am still learning. any advice is much appreciated.

I have a question. I was wondering I have clones under 24 hour light schedule that I am about to flower can I change the photo period of flowering so they flower at night instead of the day.
stra8outtaWeed
03-24-2010, 01:24 PM
sure you can bro....the only thing to do is let them be dark for the extra time that lights would normall be on until you choose the new starting time...a little extra dark time will not hurt them if they have one really long "night"
i have done this before when switching from running lights on during the day to lights on at night:thumbsup:

Hey Rubberbubbler,
I know this grow log is from a while ago, but I'm hoping that you get this question because I can't find help about this issue.
I am currently using flood tables with individual pots filled with hydroton and placing the pots on top of more hydroton. I am sick of using all of this hydroton!! I plan to switch to a system similar to yours. I ordered some Botanicare grow tray lids for my trays and I'm going to cut some holes for 5" net pots. This will drastically reduce my need for hydroton :)
My question is.. With the roots suspended/exposed like that, how often do you have to feed them? (how often do you flood your table, and for how long?) Are you using any sprayers in there or just a simple flood and drain?
Until I saw your grow log I planned to have the tray constantly flooded with a bunch of air stones in there to give the roots oxygen, like a SWC (shallow water culture). I thought the roots would dry out too fast without a medium in the tray, but it looks like you do periodic floods. This is great news! If you still check this log will you please share your ways with me??
Thanks!!

I like the to use the 3x3 tables so I can use the netwell. Thats the wite plastic with the hols for the baskets. Look through my grow log and see the pic showing the roots. Its not alot of hydroton this also made the plants not tip over one the root stated to intertwined with each other. I flood my tables for times a day you need to to watch the roots to really Know how many times you should flood your tables to make sure the roots do not start to dry out. simple flood and drain is all I used but if you are makeing you own system you need to make sure the flood and drain fitting are at the proper hight so no need for spryers. Sorry it took me so long to respond Some things changed in my life very quikly and I had to pack it away but Know im back on the forums. I hope you have already figiuerd this out though good luck.
