So I'm getting ready to start my 3rd grow cycle with some new clones. The first grow I had 3 purple Kush and 3 Grapefruit Diesel. They grew to about 18" and at the end of flowering I ended up with about 2oz of GD and 1 oz of PK. I didn't get too disappointed since it was my first time trying on my own.

So my 2nd grow I had 3 Blue dreams and 3 Querkle. One Querkle never took off in vegging. The other 2 Q's were ok. I introduced Co2 into my 2nd grow and did notice a difference in height. When I switched them into flowering the Blue Dreams were at about 25" and the 2 remaining querkles were at about 18". The blue dreams were a dream. Always perky, great strength in the stems and beautiful crystaly buds. About 2 weeks before harvest the Querkles became very sparse. There were a lot of hairs but not really any bud density. It seemed as if the leaf material just went away. I pulled them about 1 1/2 weeks early for fear that they would just fall to nothing. I got about 1/2 oz off of those 2 plants. The blue dreams looked good and smelled great....but I pulled a little under 2 oz for 3 plants!!!

I am growing in my bedroom closet. I have a 600W HPS light, a portable AC/humidifier for temp control, Co2 boost and am using a recipe of 9 nutrients including: Microblast, catalyst, maxicrop, grow, bloom, kool bloom, potash, humic acid and fulvic acid. I have them in 5 gallon pots with Happy frog fertalizer and perlite. The walls are white, the floor is covered in aluminum.

What can I do to increase my yields??? I want to be able to pull at least 1-2oz per plant. I know that isn't unreasonable. I'm using good stuff, so what is it that I am doing wrong? any advice is greatly appreciated!!!

Did you prune these plants at all...clone from them? Or did they just grow, straight with one main cola?

I prefer the one cola method, but them have more plants in close together. Trim lower branches that aren't going to produce well, focus energy on main cola, put plants in closer together.

or

Prune/ take cuttings to make the plant produce more main branches to produce more (larger sized) cola's.

or

I've not done it, but others do LST...to increase yield from plant on confined space.

or

Wait longer to switch to flowering.

I'm currently doing an experiment on LST vs normal growing on the same autoflowering strain to see about yield increases but yes it seems as if LST (tying the plants over to spread out an even canopy) is making a difference (+30-50%) for me at least.

I've also found that the Fox Farms fertilizers I'm currently using (Grow Big, Big Bloom, Tiger Bloom, Beastie Bloomz) are doing better for me than other products I've tried so you might want to change fertilizers on your next grow to find one that works for your style, the current mix sounds like a lot of room for error having to mix 9 things! I'm also using the Happy Frog soil, but in 1-2 gallon pots because it's a dwarf strain.

yea i want to know what you do, you dont seem to be producing as much as u could

redtails LST is actually fun to do one of the tings i like to do or have done in
previous grows is get the plant to out line to pot and when it completes the
circle put it in to flowering so u pretty much make a crown of buds

like this pic:
the red is where u tie the plant to the pot the
lighter green are bud sites
green in the plant
and the arrows show u which way to lst it

Hah, I was thinking of doing that twitch. The one I did so far didn't get long enough before it autoflowered otherwise I would've.

25 days into flowering(started 12/01), it's a 9.5" square pot and the plant stands about 4-6" tall. I've counted 40 buds on it then lost track so I don't know but I'm hoping for over an oz. Site said up to 25g indoors but once those buds start packing on the weight more I'd say I might surpass that by a few grams. Harvest is scheduled for Jan 13th(9 weeks from seed) but the trichomes are starting to turn milky already...

Thanks for the advice, guys! I am going to veg them to about 1' and then start the flowering. I've learned that this process will develop one or two big buds. I'll try to keep you guys posted on the progress...

Also, if you are in the sacramento area and want to get some growing tips....River City Wellness on Broadway offers classes on friday night for members. They are very informative and it's great for new growers to get some real hands on experience.
