Bickey's making some crosses. and hoping to find the purple

Most of you probably have seen my grows around here... but i havent been on for awhile... my last grows have went really well and came out with some bomb product :stoned:.... but ive grown the same strain for awhile now and its time to switch it up a bit...

so heres what i got to work with :jointsmile:

4 Jack Herer clones
2 Super Silver Haze clones
... all purchased from a local shop in sacramento ... they said the genetics were from oaksterdam

11 grape ape X Mendocino purps seeds breeded by Danny Danko (which i dont know if its true but that what the peeps said at the club)

This time around im am trying some new soil ( 50% Roots organic 50% perlite)


everything is pretty much a week old i think (but not sure thats why i like doing these logs lol) :stoned:...excep 6 seed which are about 3 days old...


last night i transplanted the clones into some 1 gal pots and all of them had nice healthy white roots that filled the bottom of the party cups they start in...


for some reason my jack herer clones are always dropping a little bit until after about 6 hours of light ... but they were pretty sick when i pick them up.. :(

lights are at 18/6 for the clones and 24/7 for the seeds


the clones are under the 1000watt hps light for veg and will veg until the end of the month

i know im not over watering ... and the super silver haze is as perky as can be :rastasmoke:..
im just guessing the light is a little strong for them and they will snap out of it.. i havent seen a delay in growth

they will be given their first dose of nutes tomorrow

hey sarah .. nice to see some more peeps joining ..
they said it was a 50 50 pheno but i would say its more on the indica side because of the massive fan leaves.. but it looks like its gunna be a heavy yielder!! the side shoot stems are pretty fat probably the size of my toothbrush .. if that makes sense :stoned:

I dunno, I'd just as soon crop the bottom leaves and branches together. One, two, or three pairs. Let the top branches florish and the top fans catch the best light.

i take the main stem fans off after about 10 days of flowering to open more light to the bottom to eliminate undeveloped buds... i usually do it to all my plants.

and i am hoping to get some good purps with these low temps i have ... 68-75 with lights on and 58-65 with lights off :hippy:

yo jake whats happening !!

i tend to tuck them as much as possible to allow the top of the shoots to get direct light... i only take off the BIG fans that come off the main stem and tuck and tie the others out of the way... i think that the plant waste energy on the big fan in flower so i get rid of them ... never to i take anything off during veg unless im topping or cloning

there are soooo many theories on taking leafs off or tucking them or letting them go its hard to say whats better for them... i have been experimenting with this throughout all my grows and compared plants.. yeilds and potency .. ive always gotten more yield with out lose of potency

heres good example .. these are my purples erkles i grew about a year ago and did 12/12 straight from seed.. one of them i took off all the main fans.. the plant was taller.. yielded more.. also it had alot more side shoots they produced nice sized buds.. where the other grew one main cola... but she took about 2 weeks longer to finish... of course this could all depend on strain..

damn that seems to be good proof.. i think that i will have to try when i get cloning.. seems to be the only good way to tell to me..
but it would only seem like a good idea if you have the head room.
if you could answer one question bickey.. how much more weight did you get and how big was your main cola??

the ones i didnt trim were all around 28 grams + or - 1 or 2 and pretty much was all in the main cola.. where the one i trimmed was about 42 grams but the main cola was only like 4 or 5 grams... were the other the biggest main cola was around 20 grams...


how bout this i will take my biggest jack herer and my biggest super silver haze and not touch them at all.. besides continue to lst and tuck leaves and all the other i will do my normal thing .. and in the end i will see which ones yield more and if theres a difference in potency

ill do the same with the mendocino purps cross

took down a small male last night and i am letting another one that is bigger and better grow out a little then ill take some pollen...

anyone know of a good way to get the pollen..?

i have heard of people cutting the plant and putting it in a cup of water.. then putting a mirror under the plant and letting the pollen drop on the mirror ..

sounds kinda messy .. i dont want to pollinate my whole crop


also any one know of a good way to set a drip system up.. hand watering is getting tedious.. i have always hand watered even in coco but ive never had this big of crop before..

i have loved the lst so far.. i can see a huge difference compared to my other grows.. :stoned:.. the yeild is going to be way higher!

ive thought about doing a bubble cloner but when i do clone i usually just do it the old fashion way... root hormones, rapid rooter, and a dome .. ive also almost bought the prebuilt ones from the shops but decided against it.. ill probably do it someday... as for the sog goes... it probably would of been a better idea for my grow area but i try to stay as close to my limit as possible .. i want to do a scrog with the ssh i think it would do awesome in that type of grow

well i had to do what every grow would hate doing and thats cutting females..:(
all my grape ape x mendocino purps have shown sex and only getting 2 males.. i have to take all the smallest one out of there because there just is no room and they were being shaded my the bigger girls. so they werent going to yield me anything more then 25 grams it looked like soo i had to make some space... so only my healthiest and biggest 5 grape ape x mendocino purps stayed.. but still it is so crowded in there..
next run is going to be in coco perlite on drip. going to go do a photo now!

Mmmmm. I have an idea you might wanna try sometime on one plant. As it enters the flower stage, about 1 week n a half in you can try gently bending your branches a lill one way then the other. Do this on a few branches so the branch is broken but u havent broken the skin, you gotta be gentle. This will make your buds and your leaves drip crystals. I did this about 4-6 inches from top of one of my jack47s, it healed up fine, not much stress, this plant has about 50% nore trichs than the other does. Gotta make sure tho that you did ur last transplant at least 2-3 weeks prior. I do this on almost all mybranchs, if not bend gently untill it breaks just bend them for train. Anyways lol, i read it does stun the plant a small bit, might take a week more until harvest date.

Thanks bickey.....those mutants just keep poppin out! I think the pwx pkx pr might take a turn to the garbage can soon! man, and the dad had sooo much potential....i guess you never know till there are grown!

Thats kinda why i dont like to buy seeds....you really dont know how much testing actually went into developing a strain....sometimes you hit a dead end! lol! Hope to see the non-mutants do you well!

check ur ph bro, you might have nute lock, that kinda looks like a bunch of different NPK deficiencies. Best to check that first as it can cause many issues to arrise at the same time. Iv had slight bunrt tips and had lower swindly leaves that were getting no light start like that then just shrivil up and fall off when i touch them. but thats normalish. Best of luck.

LoL mutants can always be fun to work with tho. My current mother is a mutant bag seed lol, somehow when I trained her she sorta stopped growing her top and let the right branch go way out now shes a beast and very healthy looking.

Anyways, best thing depending on time would be to check ph, maybe give her a flush with ph corrected water and if ur using nutes u could attempt to flush with water that is ph corrected with the nuts to give her a nice rebalanced diet u could say.

I really shouldnt write on here when Im stoned......I ramble a lot. haha.

check ur ph bro, you might have nute lock, that kinda looks like a bunch of different NPK deficiencies. Best to check that first as it can cause many issues to arrise at the same time. Iv had slight bunrt tips and had lower swindly leaves that were getting no light start like that then just shrivil up and fall off when i touch them. but thats normalish. Best of luck.

LoL mutants can always be fun to work with tho. My current mother is a mutant bag seed lol, somehow when I trained her she sorta stopped growing her top and let the right branch go way out now shes a beast and very healthy looking.

Anyways, best thing depending on time would be to check ph, maybe give her a flush with ph corrected water and if ur using nutes u could attempt to flush with water that is ph corrected with the nuts to give her a nice rebalanced diet u could say.

I really shouldnt write on here when Im stoned......I ramble a lot. haha.

its not my ph because i make sure my ph is correct everytime i water... the only thing i can thing of is i must of over did it with the monster bloom because i believe im over nuted with phosphate witch locked out the nitrogen which is causing the yellowing .. not a big deal i just flushed then added 1200 ppms of just sensi bloom ... soo hopefully they will snap back out of it .. other then that.. the trichs have been building up the last couple days and have no sign of stopping so..

i learned from my jacks not to use that monster bloom until week 3 or 4 of flower... the guy at the hydro store said to use it everytime you feed during flower.. :cool:

then i read the instructions ... MY JACKS ARE HUNGARY !! but the soil is still moist from the flush!! they need to eat... the way they look is depressing but then again all the different colors are kinda cool :wtf:

Man how did you get your pics to look like that lol. Very nice. Back to your problem with the jacks, I found that my jack47s leaves looks wierd threwout the whole grow. At first they actually looked wrinkely and lumpy, the leaves wernt flat, but eventually they turned around.

they werent edited and yes they were taken in the dark because the hps light messes with they camera ... but i think since the nitrogen was locked out then i fixed it the yellowing is coming back as a purpleish color.. not a good thing that happened but it makes for colorful pics.. i lost a bunch of leaves to this and only a few are surviving and are coming back with a purple tint :cool:

WHat up skunk?! prepare for some serious stretching with the ssh! it has to be at least 3x its size since switch light to 12/12 ... i believe they will go about 80 days or so for flower, they look like they should yield nice tho :jointsmile:... and im loving the smell lots of lemon in the smell.. its been one of my fav smokes for a awhile so i was stoked to see some clones at the local dispensary :hippy:

this update is going to consist of the mendocino purps x grape ... these ladies are turning out to be unbelievable ... the colors the smells the frosty mmmmmm... just a little bit of a late bloomer and low yielder but like i said before this is gunna be one heavy smoke... when you touch the buds (not even a squeeze just a light touch) you can see the oil and your fingers just stick together ... i know that all my plant are sticky but this one is amazing its almost like a wet stickey or something like really oily ... if that makes since

sooo as of right now i am debating on chopping down my ssh :(.. last night i found some nanners on them :mad:.. one was opened up but id didnt look like it had pollen ..... i tried to pick off all of them and picked some more off that i missed today... i dont think they let any pollen out but if i miss one it could totally ruin my whole grow and im not sure if i can take that chance... i dont want to take them down because ive wanted to grow ssh for a very long time...

Sorry to hear that bickey i just stopped by to see how she was doing and i would be pretty mad because of how long it already takes to flower.

This just happened with one of my sativa bagseeds and now I regret cutting her down, because i would rather put in the hard work and cut off every nanner, but for the sake of the other ladies I would think about putting some cardboard around her just in case, but im not sure if that would work.

My sativa grew nanners almost full grown in its 12 hrs of darkness which is scary.

well the thing is last time i had nanners i found one open and when i picked it off pollen fell on the bud below it and only that bud had hella seeds in it everything else didnt have any.... the good news is that the fan is at the opposite side of the ssh soo all the air gets blown towards them soo im hoping they sucked up the pollen if there was any and as far as i can tell none of the other plants are effected........ yet :cool:...

but i think im gunna try to control it and if i cant then out they go :cool:.... and since this happened to both of them im blaming the dispensary for selling me bad clones :jointsmile:

soo far ive just been watching the ssh very closely.. i dont want to take them down because of the time ive put into them and if i did cut them down im not sure if the bud would get me high or not.. i did take a a nug off 2 nights ago to smoke and see if it gets me high ... but i dont think im letting these girls go past 10 weeks

on a side note 3 more seeds showed sex.. 2 males and 1 confirmed female.. took down both the males and now i have 10 plants left

I have five SSH X Dutch Passion Blueberry hubrids growing right now. I don't worry nothin' ti's all to smoke anyway. My last run had two afghani (Z11) hybrids that tossed a a couple of dry stamen (no pollen) It didn't spoil my seed run either as I had earlier dusted it with Neville's Haze pellen, Dusted [G13 x NCDG] with NH an crossed a special sativa Z11 x NH. Any seed that appeared was dark and fully matured. The smoke is heavy duty shit.

the jacks came out very nice! weighing in at just under 12 ozs! the smell is crazy i dont even know how to explain it... almost like a thick spicy muggy smell with a slight hint of skunk.. the high is a psychedelic high where your mind just cant focus on anything.. not something you want to smoke before you have to do something or talk to someone.. just smoke and watch a movie or play video games!
the seeds were put into flower a couple of days ago and the ssh is trimmed up and drying after 10 1/2 weeks they started putting out a bunch of nanners!
ill have a better update for everyone this coming week got a couple of surprises!

hey guys thought i would get this thread back up!
soo as of right now i got 3 sour grapes that are a couple days in flower that got about 35 day veg!. 2 sour grapes and a mendo purps grape ape that are 19 days in.. sour grape mother and blueberry trainwreck mother that are huge and are 40 days in.. and 5 bbtw that are 7 weeks in these one only got about 6 day veg..
in the veg room i have 6 mendo purps grape apes and 1 pre 2000 alaskan thunder fuck that i recieved from a old hippie!

hey guys just chopped the bbtw.. these looked way better then last round. the mass of the nugs were much larger and the trich coverage was better also.. ! the smell was pretty much the same

soo for now on the pics are going to have to take place under the light until harvest.. i just i have 2 much going on to take the time to mover everything to take a pic.. so the colors might be a little distorted but ill try my best! also have a hydro mendo purps grape ape that i havent shown yet but you can see her in the right corner.. she 2 days of flower with a good veg i dont remember how long i think like 2 weeks or something also have 2 mendo purps g.a in soil that are the same age but the hydro got shocked when i transplanted so we will see.. she didnt have many roots when i put her in the drip bucket..
