Hello friends,

I want to start a grow in the spring and have to do it on the cheap. I've used fluorescent tubes exclusively in the past, can't afford the pricey MH or HPS. I know nothing about cfl bulbs. Any recommendations on what's out there, wattage, color temp., etc? I'm going through the threads picking out what info I think I can use, but any advice on cfls, wattage vs. number of bulbs to use? Totally inexperienced aside from the old shoplight fluorscent method. Thanks.

Mike

I use a 200w 6400k CFL, they can be had on ebay for under $100 with a reflector and work pretty well for a plant or two(or a SOG setup). Also have a 2700k one coming in the mail(hopefully, seller won't answer my emails :( )

Thanks Dutch and redtails. That should do me info-wise. I hope your 2700k arrives safe & sound.

Me too, tomorrow will be 2 weeks since it was supposedly mailed. If it's not here or I don't recieve a working tracking number(ebay had wrong one) I'm definitely taking action. That's just rediculous that it takes so long for a light to come from BC when I got seeds from UK in 7 days including a weekend!

Oh, dear me, if this is from an ebay individual, they can be a real pain sometimes. I'd worry less if it were an ebay store or from a commercial enterprise, they're usually pretty good about it as they have a reputation to protect, are usually in business a long time and want to keep repeat business coming in by satisfying their clients. Any time one is dealing with the mail or with shippers it can be a learning experience. Hopefully it's just a minor delay from an unexpected bump in the road. I wish you good luck and I hope it arrives before the holidays.:madnoel:
