I grew quiet a few plants this year & i had 5 that were the alaskin ice that were huge i'd say they were 20 foot hight or 22 foot & even the ak47 purple haze and A.M.S.They all seem to grow well nothing out of ordinary but all my plants seem to have huge colas buds at the end of the limbs & the rest of the plants was like a bud here and there on the limb.I did ok but the ice was suppose to produce around 800 g's to 1200 per plant but that was way off.I figure out all my plants i grossed 2 1/2 pds off all of it.I had 11 plants in al,so i was disapointed in the weight i was pleased on the buzz of it.The ice is amazing high.So what am i doing to get so little bud on the limbs & the other parts of the plants.Thet don't seem to completely fill out.I use great soil mixture & i deed it fox farm ferts & i topped it atleast 4 to 5 times to make runners.Thx for any info.

I think you topped it too much, it put all the plant's growing energy into the terminal branches and that translated into mostly colas for you. Maybe next time top it 2 times max and if you need more training you can bend the branches out with stakes. Also 20' high? I've never heard of that unless you live on the equator and veg for like 10 months...

Oh I've seen better but can't find it anymore. It was a pic from South Africa where the plant was next to a house and just dwarfed the building! Equatorial regions get more intense light and a longer veg period so you can just imagine what's really out there somewhere...

Equatorial areas do get more intense light but they do not get a longer veg period. Close to the equator the day length doesn't vary much from 12/12 year round, so there really isn't any veg period at all.

To get the large plants you need to grow sativas that will continue to gain height as they flower and flower for a long period. Classic SE Asian sativas can take between 14 and 20+ wks to complete flowering. Many don't actually ever stop pushing out new flowers (called intermediate flowering), you just cut them down before the wet season brings on the mould.

Oops, thanks for the correction Sarah! I think I've heard of that intermediate flowering, sounds awesome if I lived somewhere that I could grow a monster like that! You can keep it going like that for years with proper care right? Now that would be awesome...truly perpetual grow with only one plant

Hiya Midniter, Without seeing any pic's i will first ask if you kept the fan leaves cut off of them as that would surly make the plants not to produce..

I mean 20ft plants should have had a LB a piece..Just my thoughts, i have always grown outdoors and now trying to learn about indoor growing..

Would like to see some pic's tho as i never seen such size plants produce so little..:( :wtf:

Wow a perpetual grow only one plant and its a tree id love to be able to make that happen indoors what would you do just...give it like 6 months veg? I toke mainly sativa (unless I cant get it) so that wont be a problem lol yeah they do grow up quick but ive had to cap em at 6ft cause of the rooms I had em in

but yeah...damn...those pics redtail lit a fire in me you have no idea hahaha:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Maybe id get some huge pots...10 gal (garbage can?) and have it outside during the summer right? then bring it indoors in the winter.:stoned:

I've heard that but never seen it, so I can't say. I would expect that it is more myth than reality though, I really can't see a flowering sativa surviving the torrential rain and 99% RH during the wet season.

From what I've seen here, places with a climate that supports the growth of giant bamboo, will also support giant cannabis plants.

I mean, they're both grass. :rasta:

I was looking at some of my old post & pic's are still there,1st August they just started budding and the pic's i took they were around 11 to 13 foot high then.I have never seen plant grow so much in the flowering season it almost doubled. That's why i kept suckering off the big fan leaves so they couldnt be seen as easy from the air.So look up my old post you'll see the pic's back then! The stalks on the ice was as big around as my arm, they were huge thats why i couldnt understand why i only got the big colas instead of the whole plant producing.

I done some research & i think the Doc is right by taking the big fan leaves off i stop the growth of the bud forming on all the limbs.I notice to where ever i had plucked big fan leave they would be a small bud there & then it might go foot to 2 foot before another bud formed.Thx Doc i know now to let them just grow.I had to tie these things up like tomatoe plants this year i had 12 & 16 foot stakes drove in the ground & had to tie them up to keep them from breaking so much.

Hiya Midniter, Glad to have helped. If you are worried about them being seen from the air i would just top them next time to keep them a lil' shorter..you would still have a good yield growing out doors.. But yes just let them grow with all the leaves..
Peace and hope you have a better yield next time my friend..

Hey hachiman6677 if you want to grow outside & don't won't to dig the holes & all the back breaking work to get nice plants,go get you some of the biggest kiddie pools that walmart & kmart sale.Buy some brown grren paint chamofloge them cut few holes in bottom of pool, then put it in a low area cut some small cedar bushes down put them around it and put your dirt of your choice in it & you can grow 5 plants in them.I had them all in those & i been doing this for 4 years now & it works great.I used good top soil perfect mix play sand canada petemoss & i feed them fox farm nukes. But there easy to hide and you can manipulate them to where you can hardly see them unless your right on top of them. But when they get as big as mine did i got alittle worried about the chopper above, but this year i will tie them down and let them grow sideways more.I was close to some bushes & i just tied them in with them & it worked great.Give it a try you on't be disapointed!
