Need a second opinion, spider mites???

my plants have recently got some small white spots, some i think are just lack of iron in the soil, but others look like damage from mites. what do you think

Kinda looks like it. When ever i get them it kinda looks like someone was spraying ceilings nearby and got a little overspray on them. Damn buggers!

look on the undersides of the leaves with a strong magnifying glass for the little bastards ... and, hang up a Hot Shot No-Pest Strip, remove it the last week before harvest ... good luck (P.S. - Neem Oil is horrible crap, don't get talked into using that crud) ... :smokin:

Ya I tried neem oil once... Didnt do a damn thing but take the ph of my soil so out of balance that my plant was twisted and turned every which way, some leaves even made it completely upside down... was able to save it with an emergency flush. Ended up having to get a chemical pesticide and sticky strips.

It has to be more concentrated than you can get it outside.

You can get pyrithrum spray in a encapsulated spray. Pyrithrum disappates quickly. So the encapsulated formula hangs on untill the critters walk on it and then it's like a land mine. Normal pyrithrum spray will work just make sure it's only pyrithrum and spray every 3 to 5 days.

If you get time release be carefull about harvest time I'm not sure how long it last. Could be bad for harvest.

Use the kind safe for fruits and veggies, but do NOT spray it on a budding plant. While it's not particularly toxic to humans in the spray form, when it's smoked you're just asking for trouble!

Neem oil actually worked for me but it's messy, you better get the ratio right it does mess with the PH. Then I went to no pest strips. They ain't cheap but work great. One for every 2 or 3 plants for max effectiveness I found.

I just remembered I've got some of the solid yellow no pest things that give off a vapor, I use pieces by my snake cages to keep away snake mites and they work freakin awesome, like a 1"x1" piece will clear a couple sq feet. I think they're under $10 from Walmart. Wish I could remember the name...

Excellent recipe. Thank you. And I love it when everybody is right. Makes me want to load up one of those 1"x1"x1" bowls from my adolescence, so that everybody gets 1/4 high and 3/4 headache from the uber-schwag I was smoking at the time (about 1972). Mites are one of my biggest issues here in the high :rasta: desert, so I need all the ideas I can get.

Neem oil with a little baby shampoo works great for me whenever I encounter any kind of pests

I have wiped out severe infestations of mites with DE. Yes its messy and leaves white powder everywhere but it kills those suckers dead. No chemicals or smells.

Yes it is Diatomaceous earth. Most garden suppliers have it or google it and buy online.

it is tripes not spidermites dont worry there harmfull try to get rid of them though it dont look like they have taken hold yet
