Alright so long story short I threw some of my old seeds in a plant I have in my living room jokingly and low and behold 4 days later they are growing. WHAT!? So now that I have actually seen growing first hand, I am VERY interested. I want to grow 2-4 plants indoors, probably in my closet. I have the seeds but I'm not sure how to construct a good grow room (I'm in college so money isn't abundant).

What are the basic things I NEED to construct my grow room and some things that are not imperative but will make my grow yield more and have higher quality.

Also, is there any chance those seeds I threw into the pot that has another plant in it (Yucca Plant) can survive to be harvested?

You'd probably have to move the plants to their own pots right away if you want anything to come of it. Main things to get a good yield that beginners often skimp on are lots of light, good ventilation to get fresh co2 and keep temps down, and good quality soil/nutrients.

Get some scrap plywood and build a box like this:

It's 2' x 2' x 4'tall, lined with mylar(95% reflective) or you can use flat white paint. There's a black garbage bag covering the carpet to keep water from damaging it but that's not in the pic.

Then you need to get a light(HPS, MH, LED, or CFL). HPS and MH are generally the preferred lights although the others can work as well. Whichever you choose, make sure to shop around, check craigslist/classifieds, and read through the sticky threads in the lighting section. You want around 5000+ lumens per square foot to get good yields. After you get the light, hang it securely from the top with chain so it's adjustable for when your plants grow. After you do that, plug it into a timer and turn it on for an hour or so with the door closed like you would have it normally(only without the plants in there) and check the ambient temp in the box(not right under the light). You want the temp to be in the mid 70's to mid 80's in the end.

After you figure out how hot the light gets it in there you can design an exhaust system to get your temps to a reasonable point. The basic starting point for an exhaust fan should be 100cfm, that would cool it maybe 10 degrees in there and exchange the air enough for the co2 to be ok. I've read that you want to add 75cfm for every 10 degrees you want to cool it further and make sure to add more for things like long ducting, bends in duct, or carbon filters(it's going to SMELL!). I've got a 130cfm fan on this pushing air through 6' of 4" ducting into the attic with no bends or filter and it keeps the box around 80 when the room temps are at 70.

Now I should mention that you want to seal the box super well so that it's light and air tight. Make a few passive intake holes low down on the box and the exhaust hole up top because heat rises. You want the intake dimensions to be roughly twice the size of the exhaust so if you have a 4" exhaust you want to have 8" total diameter of intake holes. You can do 4 2"(I did) holes, 2 4" ones, 8" x 3" rectangle, etc as long as the intake area is twice that of the exhaust. With these holes in the box now, it's no longer going to be light proof so if you're leaving your closet doors open or don't want to have light shining from under the door at night you should get creative and build light traps or put louvers/vent covers on the holes to help keep the light from coming out and outside light going in(causes hermaphrodites while budding).

That's the basics really for the box: light & temp. Read as much as you can on here and any other related forum you can find. The more info the better, helps you to "weed" through the bad and get the general idea firmly "planted" in your mind. Good luck man, it's an awesome journey but don't get discouraged if you hit some potholes along the way.
