First grow (6 days later)

im wondering if it is growing at the right pace
i added more lights and the fan has helped the stem
is it ok for a plant to grow slow?
oh and the two leaves that came up when it sprouted are turning yellow and brown at the ends is this normal?

Looks like mold or these small mite like bugs that puts a web like that across the soil, iv seen it before. What are you using for soil? Ya got something going on, but they are young you can save em i think.:rasta:

Maybe get them in better soil and dont over water, like me:D

im using two 18w flourecent bulbs ive been meaning to get more stronger ones but havent had the time. will do asap.
the temp is probably 78 or 77 degrees in the room
i water the plant when the soil looks and feels dry.. i noticed if i water it too much the leaves droop a little . so probably every other day i would say.
oh and the soil - it was some cheap brand from home depo prob the rip off brand of miracle grow i cant remember..
the lights are probably 3-4 inches away.. ive had them there since it was small so im thinking i should move them an inch away?
the lights arent hot but does it burn them even if its not?
and yah i did find a little red spider in my soil the other day..
oh and i dont think that what your seeing is webs tho.. i think it may just be sand in the soil..
i only have spotted 1 spider and i think i killed him that sucker was fast..
anyone know anything about these spiders?
i looked them up but any one have any experience?
any cheap ways to kill them?
i dont see any signs on the leaves like under them.. just the very first two round leaves that came up are starting to die on the ends.. i dont know why..
they are at the very bottom so its hard to believe that the lights would burn them and not the top leaves first??
are they suppost to die? sorry im a newbie at this =D but it is very interesting. and who doesnt love pot hahaha

The round bottom leaves are called cotyledons and yes they usually die, it's all good as long as it doesn't spread but it doesn't look like it will. 3-4" away sounds good for your lights, I do 1.5-2" with them and have no problems. You distance the light mainly because of the heat the bulbs put out and yours won't get that hot unless the plant is touching it for a while. If you can keep the back of your hand there for a minute comfortably then it's ok for the plant to be that close.

Go to a local nursery or garden store and ask for some pesticide that's safe for fruits and vegetables, should only be a few $$$.

Heya dude.. no offence LSY, but that looks more like a course grade of sand or filler to me.
And as far as using CFL's and distance.. about 2-3 inches is optimum IMO, however ppl's views differ, and I find the major cause for ppl stating to put the lights up are one of two things.

Firstly Heat, if ya can vent properly and/or have a decent intake setup.. the closer the better, if not.. 5-6 inches.

Second issue I see is Growth.
Problem being in the veg phase the new growth,(if we can manage to get it right) is pretty hard out. If you don't monitor the growth/height of ya girls, they can reach the lamps overnight in some cases and cause burn that way.

I ran my last flower cycle with 440W of 2700Kelvin CFL's and T8 tubes (33600lm over 6sq-ft or 5600lm/sq-ft) after running a 400W MH the grow B4, I'm not any sort of expert but this is what seemed to work very well for me.
They outpaced the MH girls.. see for yourself... as in the thread.. same soil, same feed, same ventilation, same light and feed cycles, same everything

No offense Jim, but what are you disputing. He said he found a spider and killed it. I only ask what medium he was using, because it looks like dirt from hes backyard. But my main concern was, are they in a pot, cuz it looks like hes got a pile of soil on the floor of hes basement, to cold id think for a seedling. Oh, lights i agree 3-4'', just watch new growth. Mine keep growing into the lights, or were:wtf:
