I'm looking into finding a place in CO. I've read alot about the requirements for a card, and as far as qualifying conditions I think I should be qualified. But what I'm not really sure about is the id and proof of residence requirement.
I searched on here a little but I'd like to know for sure.
Do I have to wait until I get my actual photo drivers license? or can I use the temorary one I'll be getting? And do I understand correctly that once I have the recomendation and the paper work sent off, can I start growing and shopping at dispensaries? or do i need to wait for the ID from the department of health?

You do not need to wait the 12-15 weeks the state is taking, just keep copies of all your paperwork, and when you mail it to the CDPHE send it certified mail return receipt requested, then keep it all together with the proof of mailing, and until you get the actual license, that packet serves as such. The law actually says the copies and return receipt are sufficient. The instructions do specify a photo ID, and I don't think the temp licenses have photos, so you might be SOL there.

Yeah you have to have a picture I.D.. Some dispensaries wont even mess with you if you dont have your actual card (most are cool). Card took me 3and a 1/2 months to get. Good luck.

Man I hate to be a dick, but you should probably stay where you're at and not move to CO just for medical marijuana! I used to hear people in northern Cali say this and I kinda thought they were dicks but now I totally understand.
I think most Coloradoans don't want to see their state turn into a refuge for disillusioned potheads. There are already tons of people who are trying to get rich in this industry. It'd be hard to make a living in this industry without any connections and/or without being set up already! Its happening now! Prices are going to plummet and within 3-6 months I bet supply will be so abundant that its going to be hard to make much money by supplying to dispensaries.

If the powers that be get their way, I think the opposite will be true. Their desire to put numerous roadblocks (licensing requirements, big $ fees to state and cities, geographic restrictions on grows etc... ) will inevitably raise prices, because many current growers, upon whom dispensaries are relying for product, will give up or go back underground. Reduced supply plus increased demand (500 license apps per day?) equals increased prices at every level. Simple economics.

You're assuming that the supply will be reduced. I don't believe that to be true. Hell, there are still underground growers supplying dispensaries now! More people getting their licenses means more people growing and more supply!! You're assuming that they will regulate who can grow, but its in the amendment that patients can grow 6 plants, so I don't think that's going to be changing soon. The supply will be there it just may be coming from a different place.

It's cool man. I definately understand what you're saying. But I want to clear up a few things.
1. I'm not a pot head. Maybe a stoner on hiatus at the moment. BUT I have a legitmate medical condition recognized by the colorado department of health.
2. I'm not looking to participate in the "green rush" so many people are trying to profit off of. I'm just looking to get treatment for my severe chronic headaches, by supying myself and not having to put up with the side effects and risks of darvocet and other meds which didn't work nearly as well as even the cheapest weed.
3. Ganja isn't my only reason for wanting to leave south Texas aka Northern mexico. It's getting freakin filthy here and Co just seems like a nice place to live with some intelligent peeps.

Hey bro, sorry bout that. I understand where you're coming from and I have to admit that when I moved here a few years ago access to MMJ was definitely a factor I considered when moving. I also prefer MJ to the prescription meds I was getting. You aren't that far away either. I hear others wanting to move cross country and its obvious that they haven't really thought anything through.
I have no problem with people moving here partly because they will have personal access to a medication that they otherwise would not. But I am opposed to the people whose primary motivation is to move here to make money off of pot. Its just not realistic in most cases.
There was another post where some kid wanted to move out here and start growing and selling weed. Sounded like he didn't even have a real medical condition and made it clear that he was coming here solely to survive off of marijuana. He thought the job market here was great. Its not. I just read something that said that Colorado was one of the hardest hit states by the recession. And most people don't know that Colorado has been experiencing its own recession for many years before 2008. The job market here sucks!! And its not easy to break into the supplier market with no connections. Currently you can sell any excess harvest to dispensaries, but it looks like there's at least the possibility of that coming to and end within 2-3 months.
Anyway, good luck. I hope you make the decision that works best for you. Colorado is a beautiful state as you probably know. There are so many great things about this state besides MMJ that its sometimes annoying that's all that some people think about. I've actually said I was going to move to Colorado since I was a kid. If you have any more CO questions I'd be glad to help you out.

No worries man. I understand how you feel. I'm not a big fan of people who look and mmj as soley a bussiness opportunity. I've been reading articles about people moving up there to open dispensaries and it seems rediculous. I agree with you that it's only going to complicate things and most likely have a negative influence on peoples views on mmj when towns start having dozens of dispensaires popping up everywhere. hopefully shit won't get too out of hand.

yes it's in the admendment for us to grow 6 but it says nowhere about the grower/shop relationship.and i know 75+% of shops depend on caregivers selling them there extras. be it extra meds, seed, clones, and so on.
like i said in other posts the state does'nt like giving the people what they want as that takes away there control over us,they hate that.they do indeed think were evil scum of the earth for not wanting them to tell us what we can take for our pains and such.leo has a hard on for us even more now as they have to now show us sum type of respect.very lil but some, and now they hate the fact that this is now somewhat legal.they look down upon us as if we are all lazy dirt bag stoners.
infact i was very productive b4 i was hurt on my job,i have never laid around in my life but they still treat me as if im scum now.believe me when i say they are chomping at the bit and in hopes that this will become illegal again or where the laws help them fuck you more.it's us vs them way of thinking.they know if this becomes to legal that they will be out of a job and they don't want that.they want to walk around proud with that star on boasting what they are..

They are only popping up from supply and demand, You will reach a tipping point where others start closing down, if not already there, from real co-op's that supply A+ meds at good prices, rather than C- meds at same OR people are going to go with good individual caregivers. I think it will be about quality. Either way im moving their over Cali. Plus yall have some sick ass cement parks for ridn.
EDIT: Is their really a problem with not being able to get enough constant bud from 3 flwr. plants every 2.5 months per patient the caregiver has?
