High everyone, not new to growing, but wanted some feedback on an auto seedling. Her stem is super thin and I don't know why. I germed 3 other autos at the same time, and they look healthy (fingers crossed).

I don't think she'll make it, and I wonder what I did wrong. She's in FF Ocean soil. I initially germed on paper towels, and nothing happened, and then I was told to plant directly into moist soil. Then all 4 popped their heads!

Please see pics and tell me what I could have screwed up, thanks!

looks to me like the seed was planted too shallow, and wound around a bit, trying to get a foothold ... next time, don't pre-soak seeds, place into warm (70 degrees F) loose soil, about 1/4" deep, lightly tamp ... if it's a healthy seed, it should pop ... happy gardening

Yeah, thanks, I think you're right. I may have put it 1/4 inch down, but when I watered it, I think she floated to the top. My bad. She's dead, and I'm sad :( , but her sisters are doing good.

That just goes to show that no matter how long you do this, it's still and art and science, and that you can never know everything.

yeah, they sometimes float up, sometimes they just seem confused, wind around in circles, before finding the surface ... happens to all of us, better luck next time

Yeah, thanks again bud

I also realized that FF Ocean soil is very airy as compared to less quality soils that I have used in the past. From now on though, I will "pack them" down just slightly for some taproot stability.

Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to you too! :)
