Hi all I just wanted to get some opinions on a Gro-Well black ABS insert with (36) 1-1/2" wells for a 3x3 ebb & flow table. I would like to get rid of the hydroton so I was considering the grow-well using rapid rooters instead of RW cubes. Please tell me what you think. You can check out my album and see my setup.

Looks kinda cool, but I would imagine it would restrict growth.give it a shot and let us know how it goes, some one has to be the first to report. Omit.I say go for it I'm interested in watching the progress.

Thanks for your input guys. Just wondering how would it restrict growth? The roots grow from the insert into the tray to form a root mat. :weedpoke:

I decided to go with the net well insert and continue with hydroton. I think I am going to start aroponics after a few more grows with the ebb & flow.

Rubber Bubbler, How many finished females do you plan on having in the netwell insert, I am switching to ebb and flow and this is the system I was looking at as well

I usually do 6 for this space but if I wanted I could do 10 using clones and the scrog method fill the screen up quick and flip the switch.

I just got my 3 x3 econotray.Have used DWC in the past. How much water/nutrient soln goes in the resevoir ? How often water/nute changes (Using my small DWC I changed H20 weekly using r/o water from culligan)
Im wondering if the netwell insert was worth the $$, doesnt seem to keep the netpots very far off the bottom.

You need to use 30 gal without the insert and 25 with the insert you could still use 30 gallons if you want though. As for how often you do a res change it will depend on what stage of growth your plants are in and how many are in the tray. A ppm meteor comes in handy for determining when to change the res. I have 15 in my tray I had them at about 800 ppm and it would go down about 30-50 a day. Also Another way to know when you need to change the res is by keeping track of how much water is used for toping off the res so if you use 30 gal res you should only use 15 gallons of top off water before its time to Chang. I just use the ppm meteor and keep my solution fresh so the nuts do not get toxic levels.

thanks rubber bubbler
Wow 25 gallons... that will keep me running to culligan for refills but I dont trust my well water. I have used Latewoods 3 part GH with DWC with very good results, was planning on following this. It was easy to change my 5 gal resevoir once weekly but would be a lot more work for 25 gal to change weekly
I do have a TDS meter, after a few grows didnt need it cause I know what proportions to add then nutes. I should bring that out again for this grow I suppose. PS one more question. I will end up with a max of 12 plants in netwell insert will be in hygroton, any hints on how often and for how long to fill res?

Just take a sharpie marker and add 25 gallons and make a mark right at 25 gallons. You will have to add a little water each day to keep it at the mark.
If your res is kept up on you can go almost 2 weeks before a res change.
I was collecting rain water and was fine with that until I learned a thing or to about it from the forums. You would be better of getting an ro system for about $200 but then again you mentioned you use well water so I would pull out the tds meteor and check the ppm of your water source before I bought an ro system if its high you will have to change the filters once a year maybe sooner I cant say for sure as I don't know what your water quality is to begin with. If you have anymore questions I will be more than happy to help. Good luck and check out my grow log to see it in action.

It looks like my setup will be the same as yours. I have the DR 120 tent which looks like the same size as yours. You have 2 x 600 lights?? I was thinking one 400 watt would produce enough light for maybe six mature females but sounds like I can do more light? You seem to have done well with a total of 1200 watts without overheating? I have a 409 CFM 6 inch wind tunnel fan to cool the reflector. If you get a chance can you give me an overview of your lighting and ventilation ? Thanks RB
